He's so handsome
Chad Stahelski really has done an amazing job with the John Wick Series for sure. Stahelski is one of those rare directors where he tells a story through action by making it personal, character driven. The action really gives the dialogue and you see that with John Wick series. The action in John Wick is for sure an art form. It's a ballet dance. Action choreography for sure is like Engineering and Stahelski really makes sure that the action is precise, exact and nothing has been missed. Every detail in the action matters and seeing the rehearsals the actors, the stunt team go through is quite impressive. Also already coming from a stunt background and doubled for Keanu in the Matrix trilogies that itself says that collaboration between Reeves and Stahelski is gold. They both understand each other and have similar taste in movies.
Chad is such a creative force! We need more writers/directors like him!

Wow, Chad is a breath of fresh air. He is an anti-Michael Bay; Chad loves the craft and the people he surround himself with and very modest -knowing he is still learning. Really appreciate all the time and effort he puts onto his films -like training the dogs from the start.
The hyper action sequences for John Wick look exaggerated but at the same time Stahelski has found a way to make the hyper action as real as possible. I think the Gun-Fu sequences in this movie is going to be the highlight because of the constant hand movement with the guns that they have shown during the tv spots, training sequences with actors are precise and very smooth.

I'd love to have the director's cut/first assembly, because I love DVD extras. I especially would love to see John Wick walking places. Apparently that happened enough.

I wonder if the similarities in some scenes were intentional. The glass room fight scene and climbing upstairs and fighting bad guy at each level are reminiscent of Bruce lees movies Enter the Dragon (Hall of mirrors final fight scene) and Game of Death ( fight scenes at each floor before the final against Kareem Abdul Jabar).
I'm not sure if there exactly 1:1 but they've been very clear about their call backs and homages to specific movies in the commentaries. So I would assume they're intentional, unless Chad says otherwise.

When he was discussing that question here, it sounds like he called it a sign of times. I’m thinking the concept was about blending retro elements with more present-day or even futuristic ones.
If you look at things like the tech and the uniforms worn by the switchboard staff, it feels very retro, but then the tattoos make things seem much more present-day. I think the sheer abundance of the tattoos (their individual meanings would also be interesting to find out) also fits the idea that these aren’t quite regular people, and they are part of the criminal world. Obviously not everyone who has a tattoo has any sort of criminal connections, but there is also a history of their having special meaning within various criminal organizations, as well as military ones.
And the concept of blending old and new is a theme present throughout the series. For example, they deal in these special gold coins, which is a more retro aspect in some ways, but then they also use the latest in things like weapons, accompanying modifications, and special equipment like the bulletproof suits. So we have old, new, and potentially futuristic elements blending together in different ways. (-:
And with the switchboard concept itself, they have the very retro setting but are sending out cellphone alerts to people across the globe in order to transmit the bounty information in an efficient way.
@@AhsokaJackson This is an amazing reply. I also think they follow the "rule of cool". He's very visual directors and he (and David Leitch from JW1) have said they love interesting visuals that break the expections of an action movie. I could see that style being part of their natural brand.

Dear Chad, Please make a female character in the upcoming John Wick 4 a slow moving, older, peace loving unifier character who is known by PEACEMAKER. Ironically because she doesn't use or own a gun and peacemaker is the name of a gun.
The best action scene to me was the knife fight. The motorcycle fight was a nice try but it didn't quite work.
It's pretty good but not lvl phenomenal like knives.. Because it's not beautiful enough on the bike.. U know, riding and fighting sooo 😊

Just saw the movie. Very good but overstuffed. Could of made 3 movies out of it. One of the best parts was Halle Berry's action scenes. She's better than Wick! Her acting is pretty crappy though. But who cares. Hope she's in the sequels.
