Allosaurids (Specifically NOW Allo Anax) Have Always Been My Favorites As Well. I'm from Colorado & I'm a paleontologist & in 2015 I found a partial lower jaw bone of an Adolescent Fragilis on a family friends Ranch literally just outside of Canon City!!!
Personally I don’t understand why some people are so distraught about the possibility of it just being a species of Allosaurus. Because that doesn’t preclude them from using Saurophaganax as a common name regardless
Originally was distraught about it, but then I reflected on it, and I came to two conclusions, 1: Saurophaganax getting its name turned to a sauropod is stupid, and 2: It’s alright, Saurophaganax will always be the giant allosaurus, it can have more than two names after all, and at least there’s more of them and their uniqueness, rather than them just being a really big Allosaurus Fragilis individual.
@@lizardwithinternet1314 "Saurophaganax getting its name turned to a sauropod is stupid," Nothing stupid about it. Makes perfect sense, if we're being honest. What does Saurophaganax means? Lord of the Lizard Eaters. What were the most powerful animals of the Jurassic? Sauropods. A sauropod would be the elephant of their day, the largest, toughest, and possibly meanest animals in their environment. So while they don't eat meat, they would be the lords of those who do. They are not lizard eaters. They are the LORD of the lizard eaters. Besides, it's no dumber than naming a while King Lizard (Basilosaurus).
@@PrehistoricLifePodcast Since the sauropods is the holotype, if they find that it is diagnostic, the name would have to stick by the rules of nomenclature. Right now it seems the sauropod remains are just Apatosaurus vertebrae.

Well it just takes away some diversity of unique genus very large theropods but at the same time…not really
I really hope they don’t just name the sauropod Saurophagnax, because it just doesn’t make sense

It’s just a name. The giant theropod still exists/existed.
The title makes it seem like apex predator and allosaurus anax are mutually exclusive.
Short answer…algorithm
