    What are the symptoms of a worn out bevel gear ? I have a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad. 45000 miles. I haven't rode it yet due to not having it tagged yet. And I need tires. Its coming on winter, so I was going to repair everything for spring. Got the bike on a trade, runs great. Great video.

      Thanks, and congrats on the new to you bike. It's easier to say listen to the video again. We explain the symptoms I believe in the beginning/middle of the video. Hope that helps. Good luck with servicing it and thanks again 👍

    I know this is old video, but I’m having trouble with my 96 when you’re going and you get into the throttle it acts like it skips with this cause it like you pulled the clutch real fast and let it go real fast already replaced everything on the clutch side

    So, I now have suffered this issue at 38k, and now at 62k miles on my Vulcan Classic. I watched a few additional online videos, which some touched on the tips that you have provided. This is not a simple job, but doable in the home workshop. Again, greatly appreciate that you have done such a great job of providing video, and talking thru the situation.

      @@Gordons-Cycle-Parts hey man I got a 08 Vulcan Classic 1500 with the shaft drive. Got a vibration feels like it's under the seat rear wheel area, when I pull in the clutch going down the road about 80-90% of it goes away. Do you think it would be the u joint on the driveshaft? If so what would it cost to do this job? Appreciate a response if you got time. Thanks in advance bro.

    what's up buddy? I'm from Brazil, I have a question, I have the same bike and since I bought it in reduced gear it makes a sound as if it were going in reverse, it even sounds like gears making noise in the engine brake, when I accelerate or press the clutch in motion it doesn't make a noise. reverse gear, it only does it when the engine uses its opposite driving force, do you think it could be this bearing?

    • @Gordons-Cycle-Parts
      @Gordons-Cycle-Parts  Рік тому +1

      Hey, from what I can remember, it's likely that's what it is. As soon as the load is off the bike, it can sounds rough, vibrate, grind sound, whistling sound etc. Hope that helps. Good luck 👍

    Please start doing cruiser repair videos. I know they not as glamorous as the sport bikes , but some of us old guys could use some helpful videos like this on metric cruisers. There's plenty of videos on Harley's,just not much on metrics. Thanks and I'll sub just in case you decide to.

    • @Gordons-Cycle-Parts

      cl roberts thanks, we plan on it. This was the 1st and only crusier bike we have ever worked on other than tire installation. We welcome all 2 wheel machines, we would love to learn them all as well. Since then, we purchased a tripod to hold the camera so we will definately get start to finish videos now. If you're on Facebook, like and follow us at Gordon Cycle Parts. We have a few videos on there as well. Thanks again.

      dakadr4250 wow I didn't expect a reply. Thanks. I'm having a problem with my Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. Intermittent vibration. Feels like it in the handlebar. Removed the wheel and checked the wheel bearings and they are fine. Going to replace anyways while the wheel is off , and the brake pads also. Hopefully my problem lies within one of those two. I'll keep you posted. Sorry I don't have book face .

    • @Gordons-Cycle-Parts
      @Gordons-Cycle-Parts  6 років тому +1

      cl roberts you're welcome, ok and good luck. Pay close attention to what the bike is doing when the vibrations starts. If during deceleration, its likely from worn parts. Be sure to check the oil drain plug screen for metal shavings to determine if its internal wear. Again, good luck

    Great video. I went thru this experience about 3 years ago. Exactly the same situation. This video fully supported what my experience was. Appreciate the time you have taken to explain and document this procedure. Key thing here is that you do not have to pull the motor, simply remove 3 of he 4 motor mounts and then slide the motor over far enough to get the Bezel Gear Cover off.

    Hey, ive got a 2003 meanstreak 1500 that has a locked up drivetrain, is it possible that the bevel gear bearing can wear to the point of seizing up the drivetrain? or maybe even creating enough play between the gears to bind them up?

    • @Gordons-Cycle-Parts

    Because i dont wanna buy extra parts i don't need, How'd you remove that copper cap from the assembly cover that houses the nut for the front bevel gear and that bad bearing. Did you pry it out of punch it out? Figured it be better to ask, i know the bearing is bad but i could figure out how to remove that little cover to get to the nut to free the bevel gear.

    • @Gordons-Cycle-Parts
      @Gordons-Cycle-Parts  2 роки тому

      Hey, sorry we don't have a list. Its been so long we honestly would have to take a little time to create a list but it might not be %100 everything that's needed. Might want to check with your local dealer to get a list for the repair. However, the question has been asked a few times before so we will work on the list of parts and add it to the description. Thanks and good luck 👍

      Gary M. Pollitt PhD hello, this was a customer's bike that I only replaced the bevel bearing on. So I would recommend using the manufacturer recommendation on mileage for oil changes. However, we used rotela t4 15w-40 and a standard filter to run it a few miles to flush it, then we went back with Castrol synthetic blend with a K&N filter. Hope this was helpful. Good luck 🏍

Are you replacing the old bearing with the exact same part new part new bearing and expecting it to get any more life out of it, Or did Kawasaki upgrade the replacement bearing for better life? Thanks chief you're a stout fellow 😎
