That’s really great advice. Travel can be so easy if you just know what to do. Also seeing things in person is really important. There are lots of places that are just putting up nice pictures but in reality its nothing like it.

The pictures can be very deceiving! And people somehow never know how big their beds are!😂

I and my partner totally agree with every single point! It works in 98% of the places. Speak with the place directly, negotiate and pay in cash. And if you decide to stay longer, they are happy to drop the price even lower, so both sides are happy. But in Foz do Iguacu in Brazil it didn't work entirely 😁 elsewhere was exactly like in the video.

What happened in Foz? And yes, it doesn’t always work out. Paul got a degree in Tourism and they teach them that every hotel has its priority to fill up their rooms, even at a lower price. So that’s what we expected in the beginning. But we soon noticed that some don’t want to do discounts even though the hotels are empty. When we check out a room and something is damaged or the WiFi isn’t working and we ask for a discount and they don’t give it to us, we gladly move on to the next one and don’t stay there. 😊

@@AlexandraAllover happened that almost any hotel is happy to give a discount on the spot, they actually recommend you to book over booking when you have cheaper. Therefore they are happy to earn less, minus booking fee, so no brainer 😁 but likely almost everywhere we go and ask to pay in cash, owners are happy and keen to drop the price when paying by cash. Cash is king in this case. Like that saying, use it or loose it. And we don't want to loose the cash as an option of payment.

Thank you! Yes at times it seems to us that hotel travel is our life. But it’s exhausting too. Sometimes we drive till late at night to find a good one. Luckily we’ve been stationary for a month right now, how relaxing! 😊

@@AlexandraAllover Fully understand. I had a similar style of traveling some years back, with a sailing boat and car (Pacific Ocean and outback Australia). Do you have a tent or a tarp? And a small gas stove or burner? If yes, then it may be interesting to once every so often venture out and find a nice place in nature in the middle of nowhere. You can camp there for a few days and enjoy the scenery to balance out the hotel stays. Anyway, hope you guys are doing well, enjoy!

That sounds great! Paul lived on his sailboat for almost a year and it would be a dream of ours to buy one (40ft) once chances arise. For now we are looking for a hard shell rooftop tent to go camping more often. We do have a camping stove and propane tank for the occasional camping but would love to do it more! Outdoor experience in Australia must be amazing! Take care!
