What a tumultuous life. Most of his history is very new to me (aside from what I learned thru the movies) and begs to reason if Charles hoped to "Mastermind" repress Erik's memories to lessen his threat against humanity. Great video, as always. It is far easier to comprehend these characters with your excellent summaries.
Magneto is both sympathetic but confusing. He suffered horrific stuff only to turn around and become pretty much the same kind of person that victimized him. His story is a true tragedy from beginning to end even when he was winning.
@@DMcPherson mutants are superior. He took Genosha because humans are racists and kill mutants at the drop of a dime..so he settled for the island at that juncture.
@@Mickieshelton He could have took the X man rout helped make the world better show people they had nothing to fear. Magneto had a lot of power if he built a few skyscrapers he could've turned public opinion around. While I appreciate their attempts to make Magneto a nuanced and sensitive character given their attempt to tie him to a terrible human tragedy to emphasize his goals against humankind, I can't get over the jump from "he was a young man who fought tooth and nail to survive the Holocaust" to "and then he put on an anti-mind control helmet and a cape and started calling himself Magneto, Master of Magnet". In movies they often face heroes against a dark reflection of themselves. I was thinking about Black Knight appearing in film soon and I wonder if they might face him against the villain "Dreadknight". His history is bizarre!
