It is interesting to me too that someone would read the first line as "The Way that cannot be experienced..." As a layperson who has studied on my own, I feel The Way can be experienced as clearly as the wind on one's face once the mind has been allowed to settle, and can be recognized by assessing the organization and movement of Qi and change. The hardest part is becoming clear enough to recognize it and not holding on to disturbances that can affect our own perceptions.
I have never heard that translation. And I agree, it seems that experiencing it and getting in tune with it is the ONLY way to understand it. I’ve read “ the way that can be named is not the true way” and “spoken of” and “known”, and you can see it’s hard to explain what they mean
