i think if you're gonna do another "Which is Better?" you should do Chessington Vs Legoland Windsor I think, very similar markets and quite close to each other.
Cheesington is better balance between family and kids with like two thrill rides, Legoland is definitely great for kids but you can enjoy cheesington by yourself
My vote would absolutely be for Alton Towers. Much broader array of things for whole families to do, including the gardens which are beautiful and a nice bit of peace and quiet if you need a break from everything. Thorpe Park has fantastic rides but does just feel like an island of concrete and metal with no soul...
I think I might just prefer Thorpe but that is probably because I only go once a year but I go to Towers pretty much every month of the season. I just love the thrill of Thorpe however I feel disloyal to Towers as it is my home park and nothing can bet the theming or the hotels there.
Hey digital dan, I just scrolled down on UA-cam to find every single video of yours andI liked and subscribed to every single one just for how good and amazing your channel is.
I feel like what made Alton better used to be the atmosphere, with every single detail being perfect. Over time that seems to have dropped though; if they built a hotel nowadays there's no way it'd have music in the lift lol
I loved this vid. Very comprehensive and I would agree with the outcome. I will also say that Hyperia has definitely had a big impact on being a tighter race. Alton has so much variety which I love and Thorpe is good but really falls behind without Hyperia as there isn’t much choice. I love the food choice and pricing at Thorpe especially since they still maintain having a few of the high street fast food places so to speak which are almost standard prices and definitely a safe pick.
I’d vote Alton Towers. I’ve been there today, and (if you subtract the crazy amount of time I spent queuing) I’ve had a really great time. There are a lot of great rollercoasters, but the number of flat rides is a bit limited.
Thorpe Park for me, you can see a ride has a short queue, you're at the queue in 5 minutes, everything's nicely condensed together, Alton Towers is so spread out, you think "oh, smiler only has a 15 minute queue" by the time you get there (which us a long time without the cable cars working) the queue is massive!
What we DO need to talk about is Merlin's new access process. We haven't been able to use our passes anywhere near as much this year because we can rarely get an access reservation any less than 4-6 weeks ahead of time which takes the spontaneity out of a trip to the parks when you have a child with access needs. I have no issue with having to prebook our access but make it realistic on the numbers and perhaps have a wait list and make it easy for people to cancel their reservations if they aren't going to use them ( you can't cancel it anywhere right now). Think you could do a little Digital Dan digging into this?
Alton Towers ANY day of the week. Alton Towers has something extra special about it that no matter what they do to Thorpe Park it will NEVER Surpass. The Gardens, The Towers thenselves, The Atmosphere, The Scenery and Landscape and I actually love that it is in the middle of nowhere. The Rides are unique etc The only issue is they do need to sort out the rides that breakdown, another Flat Ride ls to soak up some people in addition to the one they are building and the coaster in the far corner and they need to build a Large Coaster in that Canyon and the Air Carpark at some point and CBeebies Land definatley needs cleaning and sprucing up. Also Side Note - Get rhe Licence back for Sonic Spinball - Sonic is rising in popularity and id change the theming back
I love Thorpe because it’s way closer to me and I love the intensity of the rides, but towers just has such a lovely environment and amazing theming, except it’s like 4 hours away and absolutely kills my feet lmao
Thorpe Park is only a 40 min drive away for me but Alton Towers is always the winner, it's location the gardens and it's ruins are part of the whole experience package.
the point about transport links is really good actually, something i’ve never considered when comparing the two.. yet i’m always complaining when trying to plan trips to alton! 😭
I’d have to say towers is better, yes it’s a lot of walking atm and it’s a much bigger park, but the rides just feel much more thrilling there and I agree that they are more unique e.g. having a 14 inversion coaster with the smiler
hi dan this is a real hard one as i have lived very close to thorpe park in the past only 10 minutes away so yes getting to a either park thorpe trumps it but in defence alton towers is built in the woods so gives it a more spooky feel. rollercoater wise i think they are evenly mached for thrills and spills but would give thorpe park the edge for thrill wise. food i cant answer as i always take my own food and drink. ride availability the times i have been to both this year has been good so cant complain. both are always clean and tidy. car parks i think thorpe park is better designed ive lost my car at alton towers twice this year. and i think one element you could of added is merchandise and here i think alton towers trumps this. sorry rambled on to much. peter from birmingham
I can finally have an opinion about this without bias because I had my first trip to Alton just this pasted weekend and erm I still don’t have an answer😂
Were you in line on the Saturday for Nemesis? I was the very last person to leave the queue. It did have its advantages in that I got some badass pictures. We're going back on Friday to try again. T-T
I would personally say that categories such as theming should be weighed differently with two points as I think theming plays a huge roll in the overall experience, having things to look at and interact with whilst you’re queueing for hours really makes the day more enjoyable 😊
Alton towers with “the magic” is always the better park… this year though it’s Thorpe’s year as towers have had a shocking year so far! Scarefest has gotta pull something outta the bag to convince fans that next year is worth visiting!
Thorpe Park wins it for me in terms of accessibility (you can scale the park multiple times and go on rides more than once without having to walk thousands of steps to get to the ride) Alton has way more intense and iconic rides, but the Skyride is currently not working, which makes it impossible to go back to different sections of the park without a way too time consuming and energy sapping amount of walking across the site. When the Skyride is back up and running, Alton undoubtedly reigns supreme!
Ok I've just been to Alton Towers for the first time, for the last 4 days, ok Smiler great, Oblivion fun, wickerman good, Nemesis awesome, but I have to say, I prefer the Holy trinity of thorpe park, The Swarm, Stealth and Hyperia.
Imo Galactica needs a re-theme. It worked with it's current theme when it had VR but now it's just a hardly themed space ride and i don't see how it fits with the theme of Nemesis Reborn or the theme of Forbidden Valley at all. Like they could do so much with it and with project ocean being constructed near by its gonna look so out of place. When it comes to Rita it has a purpose in the area of dark forest, you need to escape and that's your only way out and they could do something very similar with Galactica and obviously theme it to The Phalanx. I understand that it's expensive to re-theme things but soon Galacitca is gonna be like the retro squad in dark forest, an absolute eyesore.
i personally prefer thorpe park because its alot closer to me (half an hour away) amd its home to my favourite rollercoaster (saw the ride). i still love alton towers though!
Also, Thorpe Park has their own Nemesis - So the Nemesis or Hyperia debate is a non-starter for me as you can experience both at TP (just with less theming)
I still think Alton is better as an overall experience and because it has more to offer, but Hyperia has definetly gave thorpe the edge now if your just judging it by coasters
I used to prefer Towers but last year Thorpe Park overtook since Alton is nothing without Nemesis. This year, I have to say Thorpe because Hyperia is my new number 1 and the ride availability is much stronger
Used to be towers for years but this year for the first time I would say Thorpe Park without a doubt. Thorpe have made major improvements whereas Alton have really dropped the ball.
For me, I live 20 min drive from Thorpe Park so easy for me but the endless drive to Alton Towers, nearly 2 hours off the motorway at the end... and for weekends away as a massive group pf us at a local caravan park, like 17 of us for 3 days, ALTON for me, the memories, we went in sept early on no kids, stayed on oblivion 15 times in a row once, drunk, won't do that again \1
Thorpe is for me as there is more opinions on where I sit Ipoh the ride for example front row queues. Alton towers there is no opinion on where you sit only Rita has a front row queue which some people can’t access anyway. To me Hyperia is the best ride in the uk so that just totals is for me.
Alton towers is more of a family park with at least 3 boring adult coasters if you like thrills I mean my fav is oblivion and I wish another park in the uk would make a dive coaster. Thorpe park I feel is more for teens to adults and is far better in the coasters direction Also Dan I re rode rita for the first time in a while and compared to the coasters in the park it's far better than you give it credit. I understand why there are 75 minute queues everytime I go there
Went to Alton towers … 32000 steps later and we only got in 7 rides.. operations were disappointing. Rides kept breaking down all day . I know these things happen in every park but Alton towers seems to suffer worse than Thorpe park …
I've never been to any of them, but Alton Towers looks like a theme park but more of a halloween style, and Thorpe park looks like kinda it might be tied up. But I think I will say Alton Towers just cause of the Rollercoasters just look slightly better than Thorpe park
Alton towers is iconic BUT its clear that Merlin are investing in the weaker parks near london as when universal lands Chessington and thorpe will be hit the hardest whereas Alton Towers is the strongest park to withstand universal due to heritage and central location (thorpe is too far away for northerners whereas alton towers is within reach of london, midlands and the north)
I went to thorpe park last week for the first time. The staff and parks upkeep impressed me over alton towers. Alton towers staff on rides seem to be ruder when they have the alphabet cult members staffing them (trans, blue haired, gay etc). I werent blown away by the rides there (maybe coz I'd been to a dnb festival the day before and consumed a bit of mdizzle) but I'd like to go back again as I only had 2 hours in the park to get on everything. Alton towers ride selection at the min is better. They both have their pros and cons. Alton towers needs some major tlc
i think if you're gonna do another "Which is Better?" you should do Chessington Vs Legoland Windsor I think, very similar markets and quite close to each other.
Great idea. Especially because legoland is astonishingly better.
Going with the kids, Legoland takes it but better overall... Chessington, hands down!
Cheesington is better balance between family and kids with like two thrill rides, Legoland is definitely great for kids but you can enjoy cheesington by yourself

New subscriber! So glad I found this channel, I’m an ex cast member from attractions at Disneyland Paris for seven years so this is really interesting
Paulton’s Park vs Legoland Windsor? Drayton Manor vs Chessington?
crazy to think Hyperia rolled back when I was there and it was my birthday 🙏
I loved this vid. Very comprehensive and I would agree with the outcome. I will also say that Hyperia has definitely had a big impact on being a tighter race. Thorpe for me, walking through that bloody valley 50 times at towers just about killed me 😅😅
Thorpe Park for me, you can see a ride has a short queue, you're at the queue in 5 minutes, everything's nicely condensed together, Alton Towers is so spread out, you think "oh, smiler only has a 15 minute queue" by the time you get there (which us a long time without the cable cars working) the queue is massive!
I really really liked Thorpe park, going to Alton Towers in just over a week... i'll get back to you on this debate
First, Dan congratulations on winning best theme park content creator of the year
Thank you!!

I went to Alton towers today and rode Wickerman in the back at night !! It was insane
This is like the 50th time Dan has made this video lol
3rd*
When I read the thumbnail, I thought the original video got taken down and he had to reupload it.
As said at the start I want to do this concept every year to see which park is better, feel like every year it’s getting closer between the two now.
Alton Towers ANY day of the week.
Alton Towers has something extra special about it that no matter what they do to Thorpe Park it will NEVER Surpass.

Thorpe Park is only a 40 min drive away for me but Alton Towers is always the winner, it's location the gardens and it's ruins are part of the whole experience package.
pretty sure that another thing you can consider is location to the person since a close park is better than a far one
the point about transport links is really good actually, something i’ve never considered when comparing the two.. yet i’m always complaining when trying to plan trips to alton! 😭
Their both amazing but Thorpe because it’s near me but Alton for the coasters

Again a cracking video there. Me personally prefer Thorpe park. Atlton Towers scenery is better but thats it and alot of walking😂
I agree with you 100%. However, if TP keep improving in the next 5 years they will absolutely leave AT standing!
I can finally have an opinion about this without bias because I had my first trip to Alton just this pasted weekend and erm I still don’t have an answer😂
for me, it's towers, i just prefer that they have some more tame coasters and have places to relax if you need to
Drayton manor! The wave and Gold Rush are brilliant

Would also love a Flamingo land vs another park video.
Flamingo land is yhe o ly theme park ive been to so love when jt gets featured in videos.
Thorpe Park wins it for me in terms of accessibility (you can scale the park multiple times and go on rides more than once without having to walk thousands of steps to get to the ride)
Alton has way more intense and iconic rides, but the Skyride is currently not working, which makes it impossible to go back to different sections of the park without a way too time consuming and energy sapping amount of walking across the site.

Has to be Alton. More memories there and it’s more iconic, also the rides are all unique and thought of, except for one.. 🏁
i personally prefer thorpe park because its alot closer to me (half an hour away) amd its home to my favourite rollercoaster (saw the ride). i still love alton towers though!

Do Congo river rapids close over winter because when I went over scarefest there wasn’t any water in it
I still think Alton is better as an overall experience and because it has more to offer, but Hyperia has definetly gave thorpe the edge now if your just judging it by coasters
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS (Thorpe park best)
Alton towers is the best by farrr (never been thorpe park maybe going next year tho)
I don’t know why but whenever a new coaster is built I always see the Thorpe park shark cabins….
that guy on the front row of hyperia that is literally clipped in all your vids 👌
I used to prefer Towers but last year Thorpe Park overtook since Alton is nothing without Nemesis. This year, I have to say Thorpe because Hyperia is my new number 1 and the ride availability is much stronger
Maybe you could do a video on chessington against Draton manor i think that would be an interesting debate

Personally prefer Alton cuz I like a good bit of lore and Alton's rollercoasters have so much.
Used to be towers for years but this year for the first time I would say Thorpe Park without a doubt. Thorpe have made major improvements whereas Alton have really dropped the ball.
This year Thorpe Park is the better of the two even without Hyperia!
Thorpe Park definitely. I just wish they had more space to build.
I loveeeee your content and personally I pefer Thorpe park 😁🎢

hows u doing? pretty good i suppose
Also can i use this video and make my own thx

Which has better theming; Galactica or Hyperia??
I am Jude. You met me at chessington zufari area!
Referrer me?
You should try another vs like chessinton or blackpool
You should compare the other two Merlin theme parks LEGOLAND and Chessington ❤
Chessington wins easily but Legoland and Paulton's park is much fairer
Or Chessington and Drayton Manor? They both have 1 major thrill coaster and some good family coasters.
Thorpe cause I'm a real roller coaster head
thorpe has 7 coasters and alton has 10......
Personaly for me both Theme Parks are equally good so i dont wanna chooose wich lne is Better 😅
Thank you for the super thanks! They’re both great!
Now for the real question...
Octonauts or Troublesome Trucks?
Pls make a video about riding vampire at chessington all day.
Pleeeeeaaaaase digital dan!
It broke down when I went on it yesterday
Went to Alton towers … 32000 steps later and we only got in 7 rides.. operations were disappointing. Rides kept breaking down all day . I know these things happen in every park but Alton towers seems to suffer worse than Thorpe park …
Why does Mario Kart music suit rollercoaster footage so well? :D
Alton Towers is better in my opinion but Hyperia is the best ride overall
What about Blackpool pleasure beach vs flamingo land?
EARLY ❤❤
I've never been to any of them, but Alton Towers looks like a theme park but more of a halloween style, and Thorpe park looks like kinda it might be tied up. But I think I will say Alton Towers just cause of the Rollercoasters just look slightly better than Thorpe park

Dan which is your favourite theme park in the world?
I love Alton towers and all of its theming but it is close with Thorpe park because of all of the thrill rides
Road to 100 K 🎉🎉
I will always say, Alton is the best theme park, Thorpe is the best amusement park.
I mean the way I see it, Thorpe Park has Stealth and Alton Towers has Rita. Rita and -37 flat rides.
No Dark ride at Thorpe Park? I'd have said The Walking Dead counts as a dark ride.
Which would make Thorpe Park win that category.
Towers is better but the smiler ...... it hurt my back whilst riding yesterday ( I'll never ride it again ) and it still hurts 😭
They both have their pros and cons.
Alton towers needs some major tlc
200th like
Alton Towers for me. Rides and experience combination is hands down, better than Thorpe Park.

Thorpe park immediately comes to mind
