Brings back memories milking good and bad have drank warm milk straight for the cow and still here at 70y Great watching you working Richard on your farm and test driving your boots ect have worm Hood bullseyes , Grubs boots ,Riggers boots dealers boots they all wear out been looking at Dickies Landmaster tried different water proofs ect, as I still help out on an Equestrian centre . Looks like a nice tanker. Around where i live they use big articulated milk lorries. The yards and roads are very tight and like ma and my dad say, milk truck drivers are easily the most skilled drivers in the world!

The USA when they pickup it the same but the milk man driver fill out form documenting the amount and how clean the milk tank room are and then the inspector has to see this and how clean tank room and they look both the tank room and milking barn and they are very picky but that has been long ago some 20 years for we stop milking because mamaw and papaw did not want to keep dairying.

Milk collection in NZ is way ahead of the rest of the world. We can test the milk at the farm on the truck and have a result in less than 10 minutes.

I can taste plastic in Muller milk. Any ideas why that would be? Other brands delivering moo juice in plastic containers are not so tainted as Muller. I'd like to know why, if that is possible.
We have three artics and god knows how many rigid wagons but they're all 8 wheelers and they hold 20000. That was a gardner denver system on his wagon they seem more accurate to me, i don't mind using them just abit slower with all the count down stuff!

How many cows do you have in total and how many do you milk? (It depends i know) Where I work we have 124 Jersey cows at the moment and around 113 milking. We have around 5100 liters when Arla picks it up every second day.
Only Milking about 60 at the moment

is it always in liters or in gallons? Thought that England have had gallons in the metric system?
in the uk we use metric because every thing new is metric, but all the old stuff are imperial so we have to use imperial and metric , for example inch,gallons,foot,yard is imperial but cm,m,litres are metric
Interesting to see him take a manual sample even though he has a 2016 vehicle and system that should have an auto sampler.
I think the driver preferred doing it this way

how have you found the transfer between dairy crest too muiller richard? they seem too have alot nicer lorries than davidstow !!!
Smooth so far. The lorries are owned by the hauler wincanton. This one is the newest I've seen

You're not though, In England we have auto samplers on the back of the truck!
why is the milk not stirred all the time as i'm from nz where the milk is stirred all the time and chilled all the time
It's stirred until it reaches the correct temp for storage

The dairy i run into are paying 27p per litre! Some are only paying 23p!!

Ian Coles litres, at the moment our local creamery gives us a basic litre of 28p but iff theres bacteria or a high somatic cell count youl get penalised and iff you have a high butterfat and protein content you get more money per litre

what an old antiquianted way of collecting milk we collect 38 k at a time dont have the time for that old system . most of our farms are over 20k at a time

why dont uk farmers sort out their fuckin access. drive in drive out like in nz is much easier and safer.
Because we have farm yards that are a lot older than yours with more buildings. No need to swear
stej484 if you haven't realised farming takes money and money needs to be earned cause when your in the dairy business in the uk the price of milk isn't the best! And to make a drive way bigger you need more land and if there is houses there you can't extend it! So don't get on at him for something he does his best at to make ends meet! Cause he doesn't get pocket money!!
