  • The original Star Wars, retroactively subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), was followed by the sequels Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983), forming the original Star Wars trilogy. George Lucas later returned to filmmaking to direct a prequel trilogy, consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). In 2012, George Lucas sold his production company to Disney, relinquishing his ownership of the franchise. This led to a sequel trilogy, consisting of Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017), and Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
    All nine films of the "Skywalker saga" were nominated for Academy Awards, with wins going to the first two releases. Together with the theatrical live action "anthology" films Rogue One (2016) and Solo (2018), the combined box office revenue of the films equated to over US$10 billion, which makes it the second-highest-grossing film franchise of all time. An additional film, Rogue Squadron, is planned for release. A number of other films, including an independent trilogy, are suggested to be in development. (From Wikipidia)

    i know it’s such a small moment but that shot of Leia sitting at the console, no doubt contemplating everything that’s going on, and the subtle rumble of the empires bombing above is just so… cinematic to me.

    When I was growing up this was my favorite star wars movie. I watched it more times than I can count. And this scene was what I watched it for. I was obsessed with the millennium falcon.

    Yes, the original Star Wars trilogy. A sci-fi franchise that some people remember all too well. Since there's a lot of kids these days who have parents and grandparents who used to watch them in the theaters. Those people have a history of seeing the elder star wars cast members on the screens.

    So, a monster that needs no atmosphere to breathe, and has a huge mouth with big teeth despite having no large prey to hunt on that asteroid. LOL, awesome scene, though!

      Sound in space isn’t a thing star wars gets realistically, however I guess the animal evolved to not need oxygen or at least a sizable amount

      That's a human view. We understand so very little about life. Imagine the shock when you see a news headline about an intelligent organism discovered that lives in volcanic vents 6 miles under the sea? Anything is possible.

    I think from the DVD commentary Lucas said he was never happy with this scene when it was shot and edited, compared to when it was written in the script. In the words of Harrison Ford: *You* can type this shit...

    Don't you LOVE how the asteroids have no gravity wells UNTIL you go inside one then it is HUGE gravity? AND outer space is under one atmosphere of pressure? LMAO

      the very huge asteroids we have tracked would have a small amount of gravity.

    If any of those Tie Fighters or Star Destroyers got caught by that monster in the very big asteroid,it would‘ve made it very happy. Darth Vader wouldn‘t be strong enough to handle it if his Super Star Destroyer got caught by that huge creature with him aboard.

    A nice try for Han,Leia,Chewbacca & C-3PO to hide in a cave of 1 of the asteroids long enough to get the hyperdrive repaired only to find out as they were leaving they were inside the belly of a huge monster. At least they distracted and slowed down the Imperial Fleet.

  • @azurerainbow4637
    @azurerainbow4637 4 роки тому

    If 1 of those Imperial Star Destroyers got over the asteroid with a big hole in it, the big creature inside it would try to bite the ship and drag it down, whether it would get killed by an explosion or not if the big ship impacted on the asteroid.

    This scene is nice but leveraged the low scientific knowledge of the public.... let’s suppose that they don’t freeze to death in a few seconds in plain clothes and an airline type oxygen mask being in a cave on an asteroid (probable temperature at least -150 Celsius)....anyhow they would float around because gravity is given by Mass, Earth gravity is such because of the planets size and mass there is no way you’d have the same gravity on a relatively small asteroid :-)

      Not really...The plot demanded they need to be on the run. So their has to be an explanation on why they were forced to bail from their hiding space.
