Pretty much everything is closed except for supermarkets and pharmacy/chemist's shops so the few people still working are doctors, nurses, police officers, shop assistants and people in some primary industries

The reality is that japan, Britain, and Sweden tend to 'examine less' policy(becasue their capacity is low) while countries like China, South Korea, and USA want to find more patients as possible.

Erik Litsenius while the graph does flatten out, that’s mostly due to the fact that it’s on a logarithmic scale. If it was on a linear scale, it wouldn’t appear as flattened (but it is probably still at a lower slope....just guessing)

Shouldn't the scale on the left be evenly distributed, so the lines don't appear 'warped'?
It's called logarithmic chart. You cannot use a linear scale chart in this situation because of the important data discrepancy between countries. If a linear scale was used, most countries would have been represented by straight overlapping lines at the bottom of the chart.

The point of this scale is that exponential growth appears as a straight line, so it's easier to see if your doing better, when the curve start flattening

And these are only the confirmed cases. Many cases aren't counted because a lot of people don't get tested for various reasons. Here in the UK for example they won't test you unless you're seriously ill so the actual number of cases here is probably significantly higher. Italy only looks as bad as it does because they have a very good healthcare system and have been testing more people.

Louisiana will be a hellscape in a few days, if it isn't already. New Orleans partygoers are still crowding the usual places. The cases are exploding in Louisiana with similar numbers to Italy. Our schools were shut down two days ago and we all thought it was a bit much. The next day the cases doubled. Louisiana has the highest obesity rate in the country and many of our residents are poor.
