What were your favorite and least favorite books you read in 2022?! I'm building out my 2023 TBR so would love you hear what I should check out...and avoid 🥰😅
Hi, there! My worst book was The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon, over 1400 pages of pure nothing 😑 And my favorite was This Thing Between Us by Gus Moreno; it's a great mixture of horror and drama, I think you'd like it!
Just Mercy is a fantastic non-fiction book. It is about Bryan Stevenson, the lawyer who started the Equal Justice Initiative, and it mainly focuses on a case where a black man was accused and convicted of a murder of a woman that he did not commit and the aftermath of that and what the EJI fights for every day. It is a fantastic read, but it is heart-wrenching and it will make you angry about what was done to this poor man.
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy really is worth the hype. I don't read much nonfiction, but this was a fantastic read. Even if you never watched iCarly, I still recommend it.
The Plot sounds great! I just got False Witness from Karin Slaughter from a charity shop, I finally wanna try her work (fingers crossed it will work for me even if it's not one of her best)! I couldn't stop thinking about The Last House on Needless Street, that's going on my top books of 2022!
Oh, please give Know My Name by Chanel Miller a chance. Her memoir is simply one of the most unforgettable non-fiction I've ever read. Despite what happened (what the memoir was about), her writings... oh some people are just natural writers. Hope you would check it out.
I can't remember if you have read it, but my favorite horror novel of the year was The Changeling by Victor Lavalle. It's a slow burn, so I think it's right up your alley!
One of my fav nonfictions this year was a memoir with some true crime elements called We Are All Shipwrecks by Kelly Grey Carlisle, about the author's zany childhood growing up with her grandfather (her mother was murdered when she was a baby, possibly by an infamous serial killer) on a houseboat in a community of wayward outcast type people.
Absolutely looooove Kill Creek. I can’t remember if you have read Razorblade Tears, but that was a favorite of mine this year! I also really enjoyed A Flicker in the Dark and The Push
One of my favorite non-fiction books is The Feather Thief. I highly recommend it. I'm soooo looking forward to Grady Hendrix's new book How to Sell a Haunted House this month.
For nonfiction, I haven’t read it in years, but Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead by Frank Meeink was great. American History X is partially based off of him.
Plot twists get me because I'm not usually actively trying to solve the book. I let the story happen. But yes! Shorts - sooooo many! I watch YT on my laptop too so it's annoying to watch the small vertical videos on my "big" screen.
I loved Kill Creek! It was definitely a 5 star read for me lathe previous year. The Plot sounds interesting and sounds similar to this movie Murder of Crows that I saw back in school which was pretty entertaining. For this past year The Last House on Needless Street, The Silent Companions, and Middlegame were my favorite creepy books.
I was so disappointed by Lapvona. I hope I like her backlist better. And I'm shocked you didn't like False Witness. That is my favourite Karin Slaughter book by far.
Totally agree with your critique of Kill Creek. T.C. Moore was my favorite and the most interesting of the authors, yet she was the only one sexualized and that really bugged me. That might've been my single complaint about this otherwise fantastic book. I also really tried to read Lapvona. I loved the writing but I just couldn't finish the book, it was sooo bleak!
Gosh I didn’t read much nonfiction in 2022. Three memoirs. All three were 4-5 stars for me. Matthew Perry, Elton John and Leslie Jordan. I loved all three. Anybody else read those? (I realize this is kind of a horror channel but….)
I’m like you I dislike UA-cam shorts it’s really annoying because many of the shorts are repeats of a longer video. I do tend to ignore them or hide them lol.
I did not like Mexican Gothic at all but I really liked The Beautiful Ones (not horror) and Certain Dark Things which is kind of cyberpunk vampire noir set in Mexico City.
The best book I read in 2022 was The faithfull executioner by Joel F. Harrington. It's about the Life of Frantz Schmidt a 1600th century executioner. It's not as horrible as it seems. It was a really good biography. My least favorite book was The lost village by Camilla Sten. Great concept but it was slow and not that exciting.
@ChapterStackss 5:56 that's the ebay message sound. I'm a reseller and I hate that sound. It's either someone complaining about something or making a $1.00 offer on an $80 item.

@@Tessy31 that does sound like a nightmare 😅

Thank you so much! I’ve seen the movie, but I didn’t realize it was a book. I’ll definitely have to check that one out.

So glad to hear that! I actually have that on hold and it should be available in a few weeks 🙌🙌🙌
@@ChapterStackss Awesome! I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!
omg I read that late last year and it was SO GOOD! Agree that it's worth the hype.
The Plot sounds a lot like a novel by John Colapinto called “About the Author” that I have on my TBR. I’m interested to see how similar they are.
The Plot sounds great! I just got False Witness from Karin Slaughter from a charity shop, I finally wanna try her work (fingers crossed it will work for me even if it's not one of her best)!
I couldn't stop thinking about The Last House on Needless Street, that's going on my top books of 2022!
Even though it wasn’t a favorite for me, I do hope you enjoy it!!

I just added it to my goodreads TBR - thank you!
@@ChapterStackss i hated it..😖

I actually really enjoy the shorts! 😊
Woohoo!

Sounds fun with shorts! I don’t usually like them but I like what you’re planning to do with the format :D
Awww thank you! 😅
I’ve been meaning to read Wolf in White Van for YEARS, and now thanks to this it’s risen to the top of my tbr 🤩
Happy New Year Katie 🤗
Happy New Year!
Absolutely looooove Kill Creek.
I can’t remember if you have read Razorblade Tears, but that was a favorite of mine this year!
I also really enjoyed A Flicker in the Dark and The Push
No I haven't heard of that one so thank you for the rec!
Great video, Happy New Year!

Yes I can't wait for How to Sell a Haunted House!
Yes Grady Hendrix is what I am waiting for right now! Reading his novella Bad Asstronauts tonight
For nonfiction, I haven’t read it in years, but Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead by Frank Meeink was great. American History X is partially based off of him.
Also! I read Devil House by John Darnielle and I enjoyed it on the same level as Wolf in White Van.
I so love your videos ❤
Thanks so much Denise!! ❤
I 100% agree with your take on The Plot
Plot twists get me because I'm not usually actively trying to solve the book. I let the story happen.

Oooh I'll have to check out Murder of Crows - thank you!
For non-fic rec: Working Stiff by Judy Melinek was really interesting. It's about her career as a medical examiner.
Oooh that sounds incredible! Thank you!
I was so disappointed by Lapvona. I hope I like her backlist better. And I'm shocked you didn't like False Witness. That is my favourite Karin Slaughter book by far.
I hated Lapvona and have really enjoyed her other books so I hope you do too!
I’ve wanted to read The Plot for so long now 👀
I think you'd really enjoy it!

Exactly! I was worried about getting flag so I didn’t use that exact word, but you explain it better than me 🙌🙌🙌

LOVE kill creek!
I’m like you I dislike UA-cam shorts it’s really annoying because many of the shorts are repeats of a longer video. I do tend to ignore them or hide them lol.
I wish they just removed them from the subscription box and put them in a different category 😫
The two horror books from 2022 I liked the most: "Hidden pictures" and "House of Hunger"
Oooh thank you! I haven't heard of those.
Did you see there’s a new show on Hulu called Will Trent which is supposed to be based on Karin slaughter books ?
I saw but somehow I've never read any of the Will Trent books! haha
I did not like Mexican Gothic at all but I really liked The Beautiful Ones (not horror) and Certain Dark Things which is kind of cyberpunk vampire noir set in Mexico City.
Ooh thank you! I’ll have to check those out
I LOVED Universal Harvester! I will definitely be reading more by John Darnielle
Wohooo!!

I feel the same as you regarding YT Shorts. I prefer longer form book related videos. Everyone wants to be TikTok now, I guess?
UA-cam has been pushing shorts so hard :/
I also do not like youtube shorts ): Where have people's attention gone? I wish they have any option to hide shorts in the subscription list lol
My favorite book of 2022 was Know My Name.
Thank you!!! I haven’t heard of that one
The plot is not a great book at all but The Latecomer by the same author is brilliant give it a read
yay!!!!! yay!!!!!! 👍😊🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I reeeeally dislike shorts BUT I will watch yours
hahahaha thank you!
Lol. I checked my ebay twice before I realized it was the video.
What?? haha
@ChapterStackss 5:56 that's the ebay message sound. I'm a reseller and I hate that sound. It's either someone complaining about something or making a $1.00 offer on an $80 item.
I never realized I could be uncomfortable with breastfeeding until Lapvona.
SO TRUE
Best..mindf*ck series...The Groomer..the Arrangement...Confessions..Minato..by far!!! Worst..i don't waste my time i stop reading them..😁
Oooh thank you for the rec!
