Have a carport with (I believe) a tin metal roof. It is really noisy when it rains and you can hear the metal (or base insulation board) pop (make noise) when the sun comes out behind the clouds during the day time. (I believe the sounds is due to thermal expansion). Ok, question. The roof top is brown colored. If I use a bright white elastomeric/cool paint, would it reduce the roof top temperature so it would reduce the noises due to thermal expansion?

I used elastomeric coating on my roof top deck. Lasted 5yrs then leaked everywhere!!! Had to gut and replace entire roof deck. Stick with rubber.
