Thanks for the video. We are stuck on the right rear. Used 17mm with breaker bar couldn't get it to unwind. Used penetrating oil still won't budge. Ordered a bottle of Mouse Milk Oil as a last resort. Obviously, if it won't come out it's time to cut.
@@hondaresource I might described it by mistake. On the video, before you hit with the sledgehammer the front strut, you removed a pin and a nut. My question is about that pin, did you re used it or got a new one.
Just got a recall from Newmarket Honda here in Ontario Canada on my 2006 Honda element for the rear brace they said if it’s too rusted out and they can’t repair ,it they’ Will be keeping my car and not giving it back to me because of safety issues and it is not roadworthy they said I need to buy another car there ,this doesn’t sound legal or ethical what do you think, Element well rust proofed I do it myself,it has 490000km and runs like new, i’m thinking of not even going to the dealership and just getting a independent mechanic to check it out for me I don’t wanna take the chance of bringing it to the Honda dealer ,any opinion ?
I believe they are buying back the damaged vehicles, not at market value. 06 with 490k they probally offer $1k-3k. My suggestion to you is take it to ur private mechanic and check out the rear trailing arm location, if it looks rotted out then its a goner. Good luck
@@hondaresource darn it. I'm in Illinois. I was changing the rear struts yesterday and I was able to change out the passenger side no problem but the driver's side lower bolt was seized 🤬🤬.
Have you ever used KYB Strut Plus and if yes how do they compare to Monroe Struts in terms of restoring the original specifications and ride feel of the original factory Honda Showa factory struts? My factory Showa Struts lasted 16 years and I want to find eplacement Struts with the same longevity. I saw a lot of users warning about cheap crappy Struts. Has anyone have problems with TRQ, Unity, Bilsteins or other brands?
Never do quick struts they don't last long, but you must have a spring\coil compressor to safely compress the spring\coil while replacing only the shock insert and then your able to keep the original OEM spring/coil. Also, I think you will find KYB products much better than Monroe for reliability and longevity
@@hondaresource KYB is vehicle specific, so the ride stays the same. "One size fits most" struts can change the leveling of the car, and also affect the handling.
Thanks for the straight forward explanation and instructions. Bonus for your dimples.
Smile knowing that good luck has finally found you. Wishing you plenty of joy, happiness, and health
Good job my friend, you talk slow great explanations ,so easy to understand and follow.
I've got a 2007 Element and the ride is starting to get real rough and noisy. I was wondering what was involved. Now I do. Thank you.
Very helpful. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!

Great video help me a lot do it mysel
Glad to help
👍👍👍👍👍
Great video, but I'm surprised you didn't put silicone paste on the sway bar, or the bushings to prevent squeal, or corrosion protection on the bar.
Corrosion isn't really an issue here.
@@hondaresource true. I just did mine today and put a little silicone paste for good measure.
What floor mats are those?
Has anyone put the Monroe quick struts on a 07+ element? Their web site says it will fit 03-06 Element.
I haven't
Hi, are rear struts on a 2001 Honda crv side specific or are the interchangable?
Nevermind I got it after watching your whole video! Thank!
Thanks for the video, did the new front strut come with the cutter pins?
why do the struts need cotter pins?

@@minigordo oh, I see, for the tie rod end. No the shocks don't come with new cotter pins. I have a box of them I bought from harbor freight.

ХОРОШАЯ РАБОТА !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you!
Is there any other cars you like to work on other than Honda’s?
All I do is Honda. Very rare that I work on anything else, but if I had to choose... Toyota
Any update on how they're holding up?
as far as I know, they have had no issues!
How have the Monroes held up? I heard Monroes are low quality compared to KYBs but KYB does not make a rear quick strut.
Kyb isn't the same as they used to be. As far as I know the Monroe's are doing well.
@@hondaresource Scott Kilmer a mechanic for 53 years said KYBs are great. There are many bad reviews on Monroes.

How do you know you need replacements?
Customer requested these. Typically they will be bouncy or be covered in oil from where they are leaking.
