The streamer has gone straight to series on two TV shows based on Millar’s works - Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus. On the feature side, Netflix announced Empress and Huck - both based on Millar titles - as well as Sharkey the Bounty Hunter, which will be published as a Millarworld/Netflix comic next year.
“My wife Lucy and I are 11 months into our jobs at Netflix and it’s everything we hoped for to the power of 10,” Millar said in a statement.
All told, the five projects are the first slate in what sources estimate is a deal worth between $30 million and $50 million.
Jupiter’s Legacy, which will span eight episodes, hails from Steven S. DeKnight (who launched Netflix’s first Marvel drama, Daredevil) will serve as showrunner after recently inking an overall deal with the streamer. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott exec produce, with DeKnight directing the first episode. The drama is based on Millar’s ongoing comic of the same name, which was first published in 2013. The series is a multigenerational drama that follows the world’s first generation of superheroes, who received their powers in the 1930s. In the present day, they’re the revered elder guard, but their superpowered children struggle to live up to the legendary feats of their parents. Jupiter’s Legacy is considered the crown jewel of Millar’s Millarworld banner as the title, about the world’s first superheroes, could lend itself to become its own suite of series akin to Netflix’s Marvel TV universe.

Sheldon: What did you do?
Brandon: I went for the head.
Thor looking at this saying I should have gone for the head
Thanos: SEE THAT'S HOW YOU GET SHIT DONE THOR!
Omni man would have given the kid a cookie.
Absolutely right
No he would get ass whooped do you know how powerful blackstar is and this was Just a clone
Omni-Man: "You made the right choice."
Homelander: "Great job, citizen."
Dr. Manhattan: "Your choice was logical."
Superman: "You had no other choice."
Sheldon: "Oh, come on!!"
@@elgenfranord1651 Can Blackstar crack a planet like an egg?
And a gold star!
This is the equivalent of Superman getting pissed somebody killed Doomsday instead of allowing it to get arrested.
Ppl saying Brandon broke the code. Well how many people have died because of the code. Like they said in the show not every hero can just walk off a punch from blackstar
I mean ... if that thing would've exploded and took half the state with him ... it would've died either way ... WITH A FEW MILLION PEOPLE!
so I don't see what's the problem oO
you take him into space
*after beheading one of them literally*
@@slemangerdy8407 Fr tho he wouldn't have time to take him to space look how long it took him to get in the crime site, a whole group of gangsta had died
Good question. Is not acting when you have the power to act also murder?
Sheldon: "No! The Code I made up in the 1920s must always take priority!"
I think the idea of justice and "not killing" is based in the hope that people can redime themselves, change for the better and become useful and active members of a society. This monster cannot be in that category and it'd just be exiled from that code. This is non sense.
I love how comic stories think this not killing thing is some sort of grand ideal.
It was literally invented so comic book writers didn't have to keep creating new villains.
@@BlazingOwnager Sometimes the real code is well used, like in people like Batman or Daredevil, which intention is to not become the people they're fighting against. But this is about not killing criminals and humans, people that still have a little hope of change.
Not this monster. They won't become a monster nor this monster won't redime itself. Plus, this was a critical moment. Even cops kill in moments like this.
Then later in the show, this super bad guy is kept in a normal prison lmao 😄
It's not a normal prison. It's the prison where they keep all their super villains. BlackStar also didn't have his power suit on in that prison fight.
1:31 Super Mario Jump!
This fight scene is cheaper than the Disney Channel😂
And those costumes are even cheaper 😜
Better then CW
DAMN! 😭😂🤣
Sorry, when it comes to disney, nothing is cheap. You're lucky to get away without signing over your house and car.
@@adamrickett8865 really is better than CW fuck the flash
This is one the most brutal super hero fights I've seen in some time, the way he roasted 2 heroes and holding one of their heads
Lol come on man
One of the most brutal fight scenes?? Ok bro lmao 😂
Go watch invincible
Cmon guys, holding someones head after decapitating them with a death Lazer isn't exactly "low tier"
@@chronicler6162 it's brutal
I think my brain partially shut down for a few minutes after watching this
It only woke up to laugh at the Dragon Punch
I really liked this series. I know an animated show would've done better but it is always fascinating to how these shows are adapted as live action tv shows.
It wasn't as bad as people are exaggerating. It has its flaws but its a pretty good one IMO. It has its fair share of goods and bads but the good is slightly more for me than bad.
If he hasn’t have gone for the head, black star would’ve murdered all of them, play millions of people😂
Sheldon: "...but nobody would have broken the code!"
Heroics aren't black and white straight paths. They are shades of grey and relativity. This dood killed 2 heroes. Arresting/Apprehending was off the table the moment lives were claimed. I understand the Dad's pov just from years of comic books but his son made the best and most logical move in that situation to minimize any further damage. That said, Why is it always the "leader" of any superhero group thats a stickler about no killing? Has shades of Kingdom Come, Old School Heroics being washed away by "current" heroic standards
This just turned me completely off from this show. Taking the high road after the bad guy kills your friends and threatens to kill everyone else is just old school dumb that I am not going to entertain. So, they could have killed that dude before he killed their friends and didn't because "we don't kill ever"? I get not wanting to murder every bad guy but this monster was apparently beyond that rule.
Sheldon: "You could've shut down his systems! You could've carried him into space!"
Me: "...WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THAT?!!"
Ditto.
The old guy is clearly full of it.
He listed things that kid COULD have done, that NONE of them were capable of pulling off.
That monster would have murdered all of them, along with half the state.
Even Superman would have pulled off the kiddy gloves in this scenario.
But too be fair, that could have taken him out , without killing him, if Union's brother hadn't been such an arrogant, overconfident prick.
@@dustinmaxwell259 Seriously, the show opened with him getting smacked around by some unnamed chick in power armor! How was he supposed to manhandle this universe's version of Doomsday?!
That was the whole point. Utopian was out of touch.
I didn't know sabertooth was in here
A righteous kill
Man what was the budget of this show.. $5..??
well it has a series budget so close to it actually
This battle is even worse than the comics, this battle supposedly happen fast, very fast
I'm reading the comics and what are you talking about? The comic battle of this was pretty terrible and underwhelming.
@@entertainmentfan1463 They did preface with "even" so I don't think they thought it was good to begin with.
@@magikcarpet1360 The comic battle was completely terrible though. It was basically just Sheldon and Grace slamming Blackstar into the hill. There was no energy attacks or any fancy in the comic, all the heroes just surround Blackstar, Walter goes in his mind and it's over. That's it. Whole thing ended with in just a few pages.
Low Budget avengers
I hate this last scene. 2 superheroes die by that doomsday guy. And utopian STILL VALUE darkstar's life!?!?!?
Utopia values the code of not killing too much, but it's a recurring story point that the other heroes are questioning the code especially with how much supervillains are out there now.
@@entertainmentfan1463 Sheldon is a psychotic control freak that treats the code that he himself wrote as gospel.
@@silverblade357 Yes Sheldon is a control freak, but I wouldn't say he wrote it himself. Seems very much like it was based off what the island taught the original 6. I honestly don't blame Sheldon. Considering how much his life was falling apart and all the hell he went through both on the island and before the island, he probably saw what the island taught him too much of a easy solution in life answer and became too reliant on it.
Pretty sure the guy that plays BlackStar was also the guy who play Theokoles in Spartacus.
Every hero makes a tough choice
Same except scene in invisible bruh
I wish this show got a actual real budget and covered alot more story in the first season, first season was WAY too short
No amount of budget can fix writing as bad as this.
Looks like a cheap knockoff Darkseid vs Justice League fight
Naw, I'm sure that's as good as it gets.
That’s what Thor should’ve done...
What is the name of the movie or season
Jupiter's Legacy (Season 1)
Why is Sheldon so garbage at fighting, and why is Brandon so easily rattled? These dudes are superzeroes.
Stop hateing People we will get more remember this is Just the first season
it was cancelled
This aged... poorly
I hate the whole Batman we don’t kill bullshit.
Who cares if the joker has broken out for the 500th time to kill hundreds of people as long as batman's conscious is clear that's' all that really matters. For real though I fucking hate this trope so much it is so overdone and I can't imagine why a modern day writer would choose to make their whole story about such a dumb plot point.
@@magikcarpet1360 thats it you’re going back to arkham where you just escaped and will escape to murder again !
Dude thats was cheap and full of none sense
Jesus man, stop saying about the VFX , the show is amazing, the drama and the story. Invincible animation is horrible but the show is amazing, the same here with te VFX. Its not the focus of the show, big battles, but the arcs, the story. Its amazing.
This is by far the most mediocre superhero show I’ve seen 😂
