I appreciate your review...I believe the in-depth analysis of the pictured outfits is not there because these gentlemen dressing in this manner at this time was a revolt within itself. These looks were reserved for the upper class of white Americans and to see black men operate with the same (or more) level of grace and style was revolutionary at that time. I believe the author gathered a collection of photos to showcase these men, at that time, revolting against their status quo. Thanks for the review and look forward to more
Sir if anyone didn't tell you this I will as a Black American gentleman. I loved your review on this and your absolutely right about how it's not focusing on the style. It's more of a civil right book, thank you for the review!
I follow you on Instagram and don't necessarily agree with all of your political/social takes (though I do like your style), so I was a bit hesitant to hear out your criticisms of this book. But I think your critiques are incredibly valid.
I've read chapters from it, I can say I enjoyed i but, I get what you're saying, you enjoyed the type of clothing wear choices, but yet disappointed in the lack of descriptive detail in various choices of style patterns etc.
Great review, thanks. I might pick this up for the visual aspects, as you suggest. What other books do you recommend that might have more discussion about classic style and its various subcategories? They seem scarce.
Thank you. I am actually quite new to style literature, believe it or not. The only other book I have read is True Style by Bruce Boyer. It has been a while since I've read it, but it is a good, helpful read if you are striving to learn or relearn the basics. He also has a tremendous prose style, which makes it pleasurable to read.
I really appreciate the depth and sophistication of your channel! It’s really a breath of fresh air! Also other sartorial inspired literature that I feel are worth reviewing are A B C of mens fashion and An Englishman’s Suit by Hardy Amies.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed!
You should do more style/fashion book reviews
That's the plan! I am going to try to start doing them more regularly.

Are there any books which you would recommend as a guide for ivy style

Thank you! I am going to have to add those to my Amazon wish list!
Check out Dressing the Man, by Alen Flusser. I highly recommend it for classic men's style.
