If You Own Silicone Resin Molds You Need To Try This TODAY!
Warning: Important Health and Safety Notice:
Resin is an industrial chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken. Here is a video I have made on how I keep myself safe: • Stop Making Yourself I...
Sorry I should have said in the video. When I made the Matt finish ones I rubbed 99% alcohol on the bears before making the mould. I did this until the shine was gone. The Matt bears made the Matt mould ready for casting.
Love these im gunna try these xx steve have you tryed making pin badges, I make them and they are very popular ❤ I'm also in the middle of making flower pots with flowers in xx
Steve I really enjoy watching you create, you are amazing and very talented:)

Hello
I've been watching your channel for a few months. I have so many resin molds and other things but I'm scared to death to do this
I know it can't be any worse than when I started my Bob Ross paintings. After a few paintings I was in shock that someone offered me $150. For one painting.
It's just my anxiety and low self esteem that is stopping me from doing this.
Do you have any suggestions?
I have a mold for gummy bears that I use to pour my extra resin into. When cured, I drill the holes to make them beads, then use them to make bracelets and necklaces for kids. I also incorporate it other craft items and sell them to other crafters.
So smart!!!
So awesome. How nice of you to go that extra mile for a friend.
That's absolutely awesome!!! I have to make some button molds now!!! The great granddaughters will love these!!
They should sell well also.
Stay safe, you do you, protect yourself and stay crafty 👍👍🔔🛎️🦋🦋👑
Can’t wait to see what you make in the members group, I bet they will be amazing. ❤
They all turned out so pretty 😍. It's so nice of you to help out, your friend. ❤❤❤
Thanks so much 😊. She helps me in return when I do fund raisers. Her stuff is always so amazing, so it’s nice to help.
Oh!
LOVE it!!!!
Thank you.
Great idea--so pretty
Thank you! 😊
Love Ya Steve! keep up the great work!
Hope you are well and Mum too Steve ❤ hugs from Florida
Thanks so much
Those are so cute! I love them!
That was a brilliant idea! And I bet your friend is going to be thrilled to get those adorable little bear buttons! You my dear friend are one of the most creative persons I have ever had the privilege to know! Bless you my dear friend!
Truly darling!
Thank you and so much fun. They look great on the stuff my friend made. I’ve had to make another couple of batches of these for her. All for a great cause.
@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts the "All for a great cause" is just icing on the cake. Blessings to you
Love them I’m changing the ugly buttons on my favourite cardigan tomorrow thank you Steve all the best to you x
Very cool Steve, thanks for sharing. 🤗❤️🤗
They look lovely Steve ❤
These are brilliant ❤ so cute. U r a good friend to make them buttons
Greetings,
Absolutely beautiful. I love them.
Just a thought, in the clear mold, place the resin almost filling the mold(s), cure the resin to a soft tacky point that should let you place the button backers, hooks, jump rings, etc on the resin and it not move. You could then pour the last bit of resin & that will secure it for life. That will provide a variety of ways to attach the buttons. You’ll have some that can be sewn on through the holes (visibly attatched) or they can be sewn on from the back (invisibly attatched).
I am just curious. How did you make the last mold have a matt finish? Were the positives of the teddy bears a matt finish, or was it the silicone used to make the mold? Thank you for your videos, I do my best to not miss a single one.❤
Great question, I should have said in the video. Before I cast the bears I took the shine off the bears using a little bit of alcohol, then I cast them which gave a Matt finish. Thank you for asking that one. 😀
That was a so adorable, Steve!!!!❤❤❤
Thank you for all your wonderful ideas. ❤❤❤
They are adorable ❤
I love this, I have already planned on making cabinet pulls after I get started pouring and get competent at it.
Those are really cute. Do you have any ideas on how to make buttons with the loop on back instead of holes?
If u put the metal loops in the back mid cure ( when it's firm enough that they won't move around, but soft enough to get them in) would probably work
@ That’s a great idea. Thanks!
What a great idea for buttons👌.
I like matte finish but some people don’t. There is a way to restore the shine as well
So cute ❤
AWWW! These are *adorable,* Steve! 😍 I LOVE this idea! 😊❤
Little windows has button fixings too. Love this❤
I was coming to say Little Windows has the silicone hole makers. Not sure they would work in a complex shape like this, but if so it would have saved a lot of time. I didn't know she also had button fixings!
@ I wish I could send a photo
Brilliant idea Steve. LOVE it!
Super adorable
Beautiful! Lovely idea!❤
1. Will this work with UV Resin?
2. How do you get a mat or a gloss finish with the molds?
Should work with UV resin in the same way. Before casting the bears rub them over with 99% alcohol it will take the shine off them when you then cast them they will be Matt.
@@SteveMcDonaldCrafting I actually meant the first part. The painting powder/pigment in the mold and then the resin. I see it done with normal resin but do not think I have seen it done with UV Resin.
I quite often search for a technique and ask can I do xyz with UV resin but I always seem to get results showing the use of two part resin. Mybe UV is swear word in the world of Google.
@PetrikNZ
I would not use UV to make buttons IF you're going to use powders or flakes, or heavy glitter! The UV simply must "reach" all the way through.
*** HOWEVER...I can think of some workarounds for this:
1. After painting your mold with flakes or powders, Make the button with MANY *super thin* layers of UV, curing fully after each layer. Then, flip over and cure FULLY from the clear back. FINISH off with a couple of TJIN layers of black UV *NAIL POLISH*, which works extremely well.
2. Make a CLEAR UV button. Then, paint the top surface with UV, cure *BRIEFLY!,* (5-10 seconds) leaving it sticky, and paint your bear with powder/flakes. Cure fully from the top, then flip over and cure FULLY from the clear bottom. Leaving it upside down, paint the underside with 2 thin layers of black UV "NAIL POLISH* (cures really well).
ALSO, you can mix your powder or flakes with:
1. glue and let dry...works well with pretty much any glue, from school glue (dries clear) to epoxy-type glues (dries much faster).
2. OR use foil glue which remains tacky after it dries (45-ish minutes). Works really well, too.
Hope that helps?
@@fairyspunfibers9098 Thanks, not making buttons just the flat pendant type molds, still awaiting a few supplies so researching correct procedures so far, or more to the point those that work.
So super cute
Very cute. ❤❤
This was a great idea 😊
Very cool idea.
Super cool tutorial
Brilliant! Thanks!❤
Love love love
Love it!!! Great video
Amazing idea xx
The bear buttons are excellent, thank you for sharing your techniques and expertise. May I ask you an unrelated question? I have been gifted a job lot of craft gear following a bereavement and there are 2 large containers of resin marked A and B, 1:1. There is also a brand new uv lamp. I have never used this type of resin. Can it be cured using the uv lamp or is it 24 - 48 hours waiting time?
Steve, do you have a discount code for Jdiction resin.
I was told the uv resin yellows after awhile
💜💜💜💜
Don't we get to see what they looked like flowing in the dark?😢
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
