I liked the statement that vintage sewers would have used a serger if they had it! I often imagine someone from the pre-industrial sewing age getting time machined here, getting to use a sewing machine, and then learning that some people sew by hand for authenticity. (Nothing against that, I just think that it would make the time travellers' heads explode.)
Me too. I think people, especially of the past, appreciated the lastest and greatest. In the 40s this rayon would have been a new concept instead of silk. I feel like the person using rayon then, would have been into the new.
Great hack! LOVE those colors! If you like it better with the starch, you could always re-starch it every laundering before you press it again, which I'm sure you already know so IDK why I'm mentioning it. 😁
Love it! Thanks for walking through all those modifications. As far as the machine goes. And I'm sure you know. Give it a thorough cleaning and oil as per the manual and replace the needle. Sometimes thats all it takes.
I definitely have done that, and even took it into the shop. It is something with the tension, it keeps breaking the thread. Hopefully I can figure out what it is, I was very excited to start using it
Yes, unfortunately it appears to be some sort of complex issue, no one seems to be able to figure it out so far. I am working with a local gal to see if she can figure it out.
The modifications to get here were spectacular! I bow to your brain prowess…
😝 I feel like I am turning into the math channel. But thank you! I appreciate you stopping by to watch!
I love all the modifications this top is perfection ❤😍😍
Thank you! ❤️

Its a good thought for sure. This rayon unfortunately doesnt really appreciate ironing, or I totally would have done it.

Olivia's sister and fellow vintage sewing machiner here. Have you messed with the bobbin tension at all? @@ashleymainmakes
