I am very excited to share my new Perfect Pocket Pattern Set with you! They are based on my own personal pocket patterns that I have been tweaking and developing for years so I hope you love them as much as I do. You can purchase them for $4 CND on: Ko-fi: ko-fi.com/s/4b9d72691b Etsy: www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1787262749/perfect-pocket-pattern (Ko-fi is a bit better because I dont lose as much to fees, but I know a lot of people are already set up with Etsy so whatever works for you. )
Well, now I want a red shirt dress! 😂 That is beautiful and you look fabulous in it. Love it! I appreciate seeing how you adjusted the pattern, in these two videos. That is where I overthink things and get bogged down, at times. Seeing others work confidently through each step inspires me to believe I'll get there with more experience. Thanks for taking the time to share. 😊--Deborah
You will for sure! And like I say, it will still fit you better than something from the store. I do like using the muslin fabric, because then if I am wrong... oh well! Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you so much for the sewing inspiration. I have picked up your pockets it will save me so much time. I used your Rita blouse hack to make a Dalmatians dress for Disneyland. It felt amazing.
Found this on my feed and INSTANTLY subbed because *thank goodness* there’s a plus size sewer that’s ACTUALLY plus sized! Loved that you have a FBA video, thank you thank you THANK YOU❤❤❤❤❤
Hi from the SW UK. Thank you so much for all your work in showing how to do some important adjustments and your pocket pattern. Found everything very useful and interesting. ❤
You are beautiful in red! Thanks for sharing so much useful information for the plus size, curvy seweist. We ALL wear our hair set, waiting to be styled; thank you for being your genuine self. You are awesome.
Exceptional. I think this is my favourite silhouette on you. Agree about the cuffing on the sleeves though. A gored full skirt will be lovely too. The size of the smile says it all. You feel great and it shows.
Just thought I'd mention you can get archival tape that doesn't stick too hard, and doesn't harm paper. We get through a bit of it at the library where I work, when we can't harm old books, but for some reason does need to tape something to it. I imagine that would be very helpful for your taping-experiments, having a roll like that around. :)
Looks fabulous. Definitely suits you and the fit is fantastic. The skirt is lovely but the fuller skirt will also be great. I really wanted to take part but I haven’t been very well. Love your pocket patterns - already got them! ❤
Lovely job Ashley! ❤ I wish I could’ve participated but working on another big project during Sep/Oct and don’t have time to toile my first shirt dress until after that… Been enjoying the content though 😊
What a beautiful final result after so much fine-tuning of the pattern. I loved hearing all about your thought process throughout all your mockups. Can't wait to see the full skirted version
Beautiful classic dress... And thanks for the top on the Barbara Deckert book...I've had it for years and needed to remember to reference it I am actually sewing the buttons on my not-quite-as-classic shirtwaist right now...
You are so pretty, Ashley. That red is stunning. The fit is cute af too. You've always made me feel like I can wear whatever tf I want as a fat lady. thanks 💜
😊 Very pretty dress, and a great job fitting the pattern. I love the details you provide. I was never good about prefitting my patterns, and I still have projects I will never finish because I didn't take the time to fit the pattern before cutting the fabric.
Thank you! In some ways I feel like doing the fitting helps me get things done because then I dont put so much time into something that isnt going to fit.
i am so glad i found you on youtube this is my first time watching you . i am also a plus sized woman and i learned alot from watching it . the dress looks so pretty and cute on you i subscribed to your videos so i will be watching you again and again . love from Linda Mann from Tennessee
i love this dress @nd that colour is gorgeous! i have to do so many adjustments to soi patterns but i love them so much...i did plan on making the vintage shirtdress but my disorganized self didnt get it together lol...i love that you did this challenge, i always thought shirtwaist looked so much better on a fuller figure...tfs:)
@@ashleymainmakes lol no...bicep always need increase, armscye needs raising, shoulder to apex shortening, narrow shoulder adj(although im not narrow), bodice shortening and skirt lengthening lol...pretty much a redraft but their esthetic is mine, instructions are amazing and i learned so much from making soi patterns...above are the examples...i think i will try the one you made as well...love the look of it
Pretty much all of those... I am glad I got a heads up on the sleeve although I wish I would have measured earlier. Best of luck! it is a beautiful dress at the end of the day.
Excellent dress! Very well done. The pocket patterns look great. I thinking I’ll be grabbing them. I spent way too long recently working out the pockets for a dress I made.
Wait - I just finished a shirtwaist dress and I just squeaked in under the deadline and I didn’t even know about the challenge! Yay, me! Love that color, BTW!
New subscriber here😊 I adore the dress and u look gorgeous in red! All the adjustments were well worth the effort, the fit is spot on. Would love to see the full skirt version as well❤
Looks fabulous!!! I had planned to participate in the challenge but I was working on my Project Dress a Girl sewing right up to yesterday evening. Maybe I'll make mine next month. lol
After seeing you in your red dress I had to subscribe at once. Wonderful. And I bought the Deckert book. Now I wish you could send a link for your weird but wonderfully weird rotary cutter. Starting binge watching your last videos now and looking forward to your next videos. Love from Germany.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the subscription too! I wish I could send ypu a link for that too, its wireless electric scissors called Pink Power, but they dont really sell online I dont think. I bought them in the states.
Lovely dress! Red looks great on you. What is the pink tool you use to cut out your pattern? It doesn’t look like a rotary cutter or scissors and I don’t think I have sen one before

Thank you so much! Yes I do usually prefer just a flare more than a gather if I can help it.

It is a pair of electric scissors! its my new favourite thing!
Looks great. 😊 Where did you get your stretch linen?
Fabricmart! I think it was deadstock, so its no longer available, but that was my favourite fabric shop when I was in the US
If you stand the tape measure up it will go around the curve better.
Sleeve "cap".
