Looking back, Bojack's monologue to Sarah Lynn as she dies is so incredible. He says "The only thing that matters is right now, this moment, this one spectacular moment we are sharing together..." And ultimately, he's kinda right. His path is haunted by horrible actions and the worst behavior, but he would've never gotten caught if Sarah Lynn had survived. Had he acted better in that one moment, had his deflective tendencies not kicked in during those seventeen minutes, the reporters that Lynn's mother talked to wouldn't have gone digging and uncovered everything, the two interviews wouldn't have happened, he would've gotten away with all of it. That moment really is what mattered most in the end
My absolute favorite thing about these timelines is the slight laugh you can hear when Johnny's explaining some of the more off-the-wall plot points like the ski race
The scene where Beatrice is in the nursing home and is confused where she is hits hard. Bojack inadvertently brought her back to reality. She knows he's lying because she's never had ice cream growing up, maybe even as an adult.
There is no indication in that scene that she "knows he's lying" I literally went and looked at the scene because I saw this comment like a few months ago
I think it says so much that Diane is the only woman in his life (non family) that Bojack never has sex with. It’s like she’s the only one he ever actually respects.
I feel like he would have, but Diane never wanted to, never had those feelings for Bojack and didn't wanna mess the friendship up, because after the kiss, Diane blamed him for making it weird, which he did. But more into the show I think he does gain a lot of respect Diane, but I still think he would sleep with her if she'd given the chance
I think he grew to respect the women in his life more as he started respecting himself more. But you’re right, once he stopped trying to pursue Diane, he really did seem to value her friendship more above all the others.
If you also notice too how Diane introduced herself to BoJack while he found out his dad died. And now BoJack is introduced to Diane while she finds out her dad dies. And they both don’t have a reaction to their death. Crazyyyy
Do you think bojack has an escapism complex within movies and TV shows because when his parents used to fight, he'd force himself to watch TV? It definitely explains alot of his actions and many of his breakdowns when life doesn't seem to go the way he expects from the movie media
Im sorry, but i have to comment on the thumbnail, I love it. Everyone just looking at the title in a circle, it's just perfect. Also, i love the detail of Sarah Lynn being a galaxy silloette of herself with a halo despite not being the only dead character, as Herb and Beatrice are dead but dont have anything specific like her. Probably because her death was not only the most impactful for BoJack, but also for us as the audience
something I specifically love about how these timelines are done is the fact you dont count the view from halfway down in anyone other than bojack's. because it wasnt really them, just bojack projecting the memory and understanding on them in a crazy near-death dream as he drowned
4:52:46 I always thought it was clever that he fell back instead of forward. Secretariate willingly fell forward while butterscotch unknowingly fell back.
I am so grateful for the existence of Princess Carolyn as a character. Her personality, fierce independence, and the unique type of co-dependence she has for others where she feels the intense need to take care of others is insanely relatable. Her particular array of imperfections are just like mine. The fact that she works so hard AND gets such a happy ending in the end gives me so much hope for myself. I know that's weird, but still.
Just finished watching the series today, it’s a masterpiece, and the reason i started watching it in the first place was because of Johnny’s videos about it. Keep up the great work my man!
Your Bojack character timeline series was just the best Johnny, I loved every second of every one of the videos! And now that you've made this definitive video of all the timelines combined I must say that I am proud to witness seeing you make history here!!!
Did I watch each of these timelines individually when they came out? Yes. Did I watch them again when the got rereleased? Yes. Will I watch them again when they get re-remastered? Of course 😎
Took me 3 days watch the whole thing, but this was well put together! There were a ton of moments in the timelines that had me going "ha, I'd forgotten about that joke/reference/etc, that was really clever!"
I was on probably my 10th rewatch of the show since it's a depression/comfort show for me, when I found your channel. I'm so obsessed with these deep dives you've done.
I noticed that in the photo in the background of bojacks dressing room in horsing around has a photo of bojack lying on a dead bear... another thing showing that Sarah Lynn looks up to bojack thinking that he could protect her from her bear stepfather
Me, already knowing the entire timeline, I have rewatched this show 80+ times already, at 10:30 PM: Yeah, I got some free time. Not really important, but I love how you say everything so bluntly, I hate how most UA-camrs just dumb it down or say it inadvertently.
What would make this remastered timeline perfect would be by adding chapters to the video. So if we wanna watch a certain timeline in this video we know exactly where it’s at and how to get to it
I've not even seen a single episode of BoJack it sounds depressing as shit on paper but I actually enjoy your personal deep dives into the characters I get everything I need without watching it I dig your style
so impressive to make a 5 hour long video and not bore your viewers haha, thank you for this video I missed so much details and I didn't even realise until you pointed them out
With the lockdown hitting, I stopped watching shows on my commute, I’m glad I didn’t miss much in this show, only a season which I’m glad (via you) I’ve caught up
5:10 White roses symbolize loyalty, purity, and innocence. "Since they represent these ideas, the white rose has also become the most popular flower to be seen at weddings," says Poulson. According to Poulson, they can also symbolize eternal love, a new start, and fresh beginnings. This is a farfetched idea (and don't use the coffee cup quote on me stfg) but what if it's because Bojack was Sarah's last hope at a real friend, and him not understanding that is what led to the light inside her fully dying?

Do you think next April fools day we could get a timeline on everyone’s favorite podcast host, a Ryan Seacrest type? If not that’s cool, I’ll make it :)
The show does a perfect job of showing the nuances (and ramifications of actions) with each character and how they effect each other in negative and positive ways. I honestly can’t see people taking sides when everyone is broken to an extent. Bojack has done horrible actions that he chose (doesn’t matter the reason, he is the reason why Sarah Lynn is dead) to do regardless of the consequences leading him in and out of rehab and prison. I can’t see Diane as a bad character other than someone who’s willing to point out Bojack’s negative behavior and when she is “villainized” it’s when her counter points don’t support Bojack’s addictions.
they couldn’t make me hate diane, i feel she’s earned the respect she’s given. the generations that we see in this show and all the different times always baffle me whenever i remember this show. really watching these analysis videos make me realize i probably shouldn’t have watched this show at all young age. the cycles within the families in this show almost bring back the ideas and memories of trauma my own and my families. sigh
Okay, but I really want a timeline of Erica, or at least a ocmpilation of what we know about her and some heavy speculation on what kind of life she can be inferred to lead.
It feels off hearing Sara's and Beatrice I can't stop thinking of Mable Pines and Eds the Owl Lady. It makes this feel darker than normal because these voices makes me think of those characters.
The only thing I REALLY dislike as an ace from todd is how stereotypical he is, its harmful how aces are stereotypies to hate sex or not want to do it. many aces want sex and do it and enjoy it, sex preference has nothing to do with sexuality, the same way a gay man can like having sex with a woman due to the differences.
The majority of aces ARE either sex neutral or sex repulsed. Sex positive aces are a minority and also what the hell? Name one gay man who enjoys and pursues sex with women. That’s a bisexual man. Gay men are not sexually attracted to women
21:20, it's so sad he describes it and she believes everything until he says Vanilla Ice Cream. She was never allowed to have it, and never ate it. She's never had ice cream, so she just describes it how she feels it must have tasted to others.

This show is so wild. When you take it apart in sections like this, it's like "depression, tragedy, death... and Todd"
Todd is my favorite theme!
I think it's a nice touch that Todd never forgives Bojack for sabotaging his rock opera and that Bojack never actually apologized for it
I kind of wish he apologized to Todd after flying to hollyhock and learning how she perceives apologies
Todd even had to write “sabotaged my rock opera” on the white boards. Really does show that bojack wasnt even sorry for what he did
the todd chavez timeline really put into perspective just how insane this show is, lol
i love how every timeline is coherent and somehow traumatic and then todd's just chaos
Todd will always be my favorite
