This helped me sooo much. I thought I would have to graph the whole parabola then using that to find the coordinates of the vertex, but this way is much easier. THANKYOU !!!
Two thumbs up and hats off dear sir. I'm surprised how easily u got this concept fit into my mind. I really can't explain how upset I was relating to this concept. Allah may bless u dear!!!
Absolutely! If the leading coefficient (the number multiplying the x^2) is positive then the parabola is concave-up (looks like a smile) and the vertex is a minimum. If the leading coefficient is negative then it is concave-down and the vertex is a maximum. Hope that helps 😊
That really depends on what the topic of the assignment was 😊. If it was on quadratics then it’s a typo and the power on that first x should be a 2. But if it’s an assignment on polynomials or cubic functions it is very possible that it’s written correctly.
Radford Mathematics i just finished my maths assignment.....I couldn’t understand during the live class so your video really helped...thanks alot again😊
Good question 😊 When we write a quadratic in that form: y=a(x-h)^2 + k It’s know as the “vertex form”, the axis of symmetry has equation x = h (careful h is being subtracted from x) So in the example you wrote, you have (x+1)^2 Think of that as (x-(-1))^2 The axis of symmetry would be x= -1 Hope that helps 😊
sooo great!!! thank you
Thanks for your comment Nguyen!
Really glad to hear/read that it helped 😁
See you soon on RadfordMathematics.com ✌️
Thank You it really help me understand more

@@RadfordMathematics You too! :)
Thank you! This is the best explanation of coordinates I have seen on UA-cam so far.
wow, this was easier than i thought, much relief. Thank you soo much.

Thanks a lot mate. Helped me a lot 👍
Thanks for your comment 😊Really glad it helped ✌️
thanks. I was dumb and forgot that i just had to plug in the x value into the equation again :/
Thanks for your comment Blobbo, I really appreciate it 😊

I have a question, if the parabola is downward is the vertex of it is maximum point and if its upward is the vertex of it is minimum point?
Absolutely! If the leading coefficient (the number multiplying the x^2) is positive then the parabola is concave-up (looks like a smile) and the vertex is a minimum. If the leading coefficient is negative then it is concave-down and the vertex is a maximum.
Hope that helps 😊
@@RadfordMathematics Thank you so much!! Now I can finish my homework!! I’ll subscribe you
Always a pleasure 😊
how do you find the rest of the points of the graph?
How did u derived h is equal to negative b over 2a
if you derive the quadratic formula, from the standard form of the quadratic equation, the first term will be -b/2a that’s the acis of symmetry 🙂
@@RadfordMathematics thank you so much...
Thank you for this quick tutorial sir, got a question, what happens if i got y^2 instead of x^2, that holds the same process right?
Sir what is A at here?
Thank you so much☺️ It helped a lot❤️
I’m really glad it helped 😊
Thank you for your comment!!

Simple but deeply understandable
We can use -D/4a ti calculate y coordinate where D=b^2-4ac
Absolutely Correct 😊
Thanks very much
Helped me alot in My Final Exams
I scored a 97%
Ahhh!!!It's Eren Yeagerrr!!
I didn't imagine I would find you here😂
Good job acing your math
It's almost getting easier for me...been away from it for 20 years and trying to relearn...hell if I even learned it the first time..lol
Hmm sir
In one of my assignment
The question was like this
y=x³-12x+5
Is it written correctly
That really depends on what the topic of the assignment was 😊.
If it was on quadratics then it’s a typo and the power on that first x should be a 2.
But if it’s an assignment on polynomials or cubic functions it is very possible that it’s written correctly.
I am in class 10 but tomorrow is my exam and I see in the sample paper that this type of questions will also come
Thanks! C:

Awesome video, thank you so much, right now I am mostly dealing with minimum values but still it helps a lot.
Thanks for the kind comment Jasper! Truly glad it helped 😊

That’s awesome! If ever there’s another topic you need help with, I may be able to help. Don’t hesitate to get back in touch 😊
what if there's no b? i.e y=(x+1)^2 -3?
Good question 😊
When we write a quadratic in that form:
y=a(x-h)^2 + k
It’s know as the “vertex form”, the axis of symmetry has equation x = h (careful h is being subtracted from x)
So in the example you wrote, you have (x+1)^2
Think of that as (x-(-1))^2
The axis of symmetry would be x= -1
Hope that helps 😊
thank you!
Thanks for your comment Jayson! I’m really glad this video helped 😊
Take good care ✌️
What if the equation is
y=3x power2
??
The y-intercept and the axis of symmetry will be 0
This helped a lot thank you !
I’m so glad to read / hear it helped 🙂
See you soon ✌️
Thanks!!!
Really glad it helped Yokona 😊
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
what if y=x²+3x-6
this is actually poggers
Could’ve not said that
thankyouuu
