- 👉 Learn about the parts of a parabola. A parabola is the shape of the graph of a quadratic equation. A regular palabola is the parabola that is facing either up or down while an irregular parabola faces left or right. A quadratic equation is an equation whose highest exponent in the variable(s) is 2.
The parts of a parabola include: the axis of symmetry (the line passing through the vertex of the parabola to which the parabola is symmetric about), the vertex (the point at which the parabola turns), the domain (the set of possible x-values of the parabola, usually all real numbers for regular parabolas), the range (the possible y-values of the parabola which is usually the region above the vertex inclusive or below the vertex inclusive for regular parabolas), the x-intercepts (the points where the parabola cuts the x-axis) and the y-intercepts (the point(s) where the parabola cuts the y axis.

A teacher who really knows how to explain🙌🏼
Happy to help
right?!!!!
Those students dont know how lucky they are to have such a knowledgeable teacher
All teachers are knowledgeable
@@glitchyfolks false
The noob some teachers are shitheads.
@@glitchyfolks ehhhhhhhh
if all teachers are knowledgeable i wouldnt be here lmao
I learn more from watching this 7 minutes video than I would learn in an hour of my algebra 2 class
Same
im learning this in algebra 1
Nice
@@Cytololo same
Legend has it that Alex is still writing it down.
Alex just got called out on UA-cam. “Alright Alex if you didn’t write this down, you might want to do that”
haha not the first time either
@@brianmclogan darn you didn't have to absoloutely DESTROY alex like that. fr tho, we all have our alex moments
in front of 250K people lol
You are a great teacher. Thanks to you, I will pass my exam tomorrow.
awesome! hope you did well
You are 100 times better than my actual math teacher. 😭
Thank you so much Mr Logan. I'm glad to have you as virtual teacher. You explained this one very well
+Mo bahjat happy to help you out Mo!
i have literally been taught this over and over and have never understood until this video thank you so much
I have a test in 3 hrs...
Thank you for this!
Well beware morairity may cheat !
This is some tough stuff. Your explanations are simply the best! Many, many, many thanks for these videos!!!
You made this so easy for me to understand. This will definitely help me on my exam tomorrow!
Your videos are super helpful and I am forever grateful !!!
PS: you should do some SAT math question videos, those are so hard to solve !
thank you! happy to help. I agree, at this time it is hard keeping up just with school and my kids at home, but I do hope one day
Now this is some good teachings that I've been looking for for years. GREAT VIDEO
i wish i would've had a teacher like you when i was in school lol you teach things in such a way that's understandable and you even told your students to attempt what they're struggling on so you can find where the problem is and help them fix it. what a cool teacher.
You’re so helpful. I appreciate you listing the steps and detailed info. Always consistently passing your info to those who struggle in math!
watch my helpful maths videos.
Your the best, this help me a lot, I thanks you a million times 🙏
oh my gosh these help so much. my teacher “explains” but you know when they’re explaining but the words are just empty? your words make so much sense
I love the attitude he gives the class 😂 hes such a great teacher
Thanks sir .. you explain in the best way ... (student from India)
You literally have no idea how greatful I am for this
I'll gladly switch spots with Alex lol 100% focus!!
Thank you for midnight lessons because I was drowsy in class!!! No seriously, thank you.
Did alex write it down?
You are great . Thank you for doing this , helps a lot ❤️
It’s been years for this video but it still help people thanks you sir 🙏🙏
These kids are so blessed to have you. Nowadays to have a good math teacher is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Math itself is already very confusing. Having a teacher that doesn't give a damn about his student is the biggest reason why people feel stupid at it.
Thank you :)
Sir, you are a very good teacher , you have helped me a lot thank you
he is a super teacher i would have been so lucky if he teaches me i love the way he talks and the way he interact with his students he is a very great teacher thank you and keep up the good job
Every time I have an exam or a test I always come back ;) Thank you!
you are very welcome! happy to be able to help
I love how he interacts with his Class!
Can i just say the way you explained this was on point ! My ap teacher keeps going at her pace after we tell her to slow down . I didnt fully understans it , but now i do ,thank you .
you are very welcome!! happy to be there for you brianna! Keep working hard
Fr is gonna hell on my final. You a beast 🔥🔥
You have a very nice explaining skill sir. The video was very helpful
I'm an online college student in a College Algebra/Trigonometry class, Your videos are extremely helpful. You explain everything so well. :) Thanks to you I will be able to get through my final exam.
happy to be there for you Sara! best of luck on your exam
Okay so first of all I didn’t even understand a word from this lesson but now I’m 100 •/• going to pass the exam tomorrow thanks to you🤩
you are very welcome! happy to be able to help you out nabila
Taking a test rn, you explained this way better than my teacher. 8 years later, thanks
I have regents today. 9th grade regents. Parabolas still confuse me but you made me understand them somewhat better. Thank you. You’re a great teacher.
you are very welcome! happy to be able to help you out!
Thank you for teaching this I got better in math because you teach pretty well than my teacher,I understand you more perfectly.you are a very good math teacher I am sure your student in the class have the best math teacher.
thank you, this really helped me!
this is extremely helpful thank you so much! do you think you could do a video on how to 'e' 'ln' and 'log' functions please? that would be so helpful. thanks again!

How would you do a parabola like y = ax ( squared)
Like this? ua-cam.com/video/FXHGZMkMAuo/v-deo.html
Cool, thanks
Crazy Russian hacker of math 🙏🏽
Very hepful thanks
you are very welcome!
So for max and min do you just write if it is a max or min or do you also add the vertex in the answer?
You write max or the min and the value of the max and the min
Thank you Mr.teacher man😭
thanks mr brian mclogan
well this video just saved my butt
This man is single-handedly getting me through math right now because my professor explains things so slowly and it is hard to understand him at times.
very helpful thank you
happy to help!
How would you graph this
Thanks sir!
you are very welcome!
Why can't my teacher be this good at teaching
Thank you! It is my last math class in college(124) and I'm Struggling. Any tips for nervous test takers?
I did 3 things that really helped me with my math classes, 1.) Find someone or group to study with and do your homework. Very helpful to learn from and makes studying more enjoyable. 2.) Practice extra problems, or redo problems you already know the answer to, just copy it down and then check it. Keep working the problem till you get the processes right. 3.) summarize all the key processes, definitions, equations on a sheet of paper and try to write and make connections amongst them
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Seems that the pedagogic method is to teach quadratic equations before the student has any knowledge of calculus. This then requires rote learning respecting finding the vertex and further rote learning as to how to determine whether the vertex [ extremum ] is a maximum or a minimum. Using calculus y(x) = a ^x^2 + b*x + c. dy/dx = 2*a*x + b and d2y/dx^2 = 2*a. At the vertex dy/dx = 0 so at the vertex. 2*a*(xV)+b = 0, xV= -b/( 2*a ) and if d2y/dx^2 > 0 then the extremum is a minimum and if < 0 then a maximum. No rote learning involved.
I have a big test tomorrow on everything I “learned”, but I have adhd, so I actually learned absolutely nothing so I’m cramming now
How do you find the first table of x
Thank youuuu
you are very welcome
There is also an another way to find the value of f(x) when you know the vertex that is the formula. - D/4a.
What is the range if the Y value is Minimum?
Do you have an example or a video that shows how to determine which quadratic equation is used in parabolas when the only givens are the graph, the vertex and the x-intercept?
Thank you!
you are very welcome!
i understsnd this more than my teacher
Is max value and min value the x axis or y axis?
wht grade do u learn this in?
Sir could you pls solve this..
Describe geometric transformation with given equation f(x)= -2x²-30
im not him but im pretty sure this is what they want;
compared to the standard y = x^2 model, the given equation, -2x-30, will be narrower than y = x^2, reflected on the x axis, and, translated 30 units downwards.
Awesome
Now THIS is a math class
at the end, was there a bracket at -6? Couldnt see
es there should have been, can't see it either
Have eoc tomorrow pretty good at math and numbers but to many steps.
Is the line of symmetry the y?
can u help me with
f(x) = (x-5)^2 +3 (a
a does not affect the range unless it is negative which in this case it cannot be based on the constraint. The range will depend on the vertical shift 3 [3,infinity)
Reply please when a=0 what will be open up or open down
dunno
I don't know to turn the X-intercepts into a decimal help!
When ax^2 is negative it’s got maximum problems, so it’s a sad parabola 😞. When ax^2 is positive, it’s got minimum problems, and is a 😃 parabola. I will remember this forever thanks to my teacher!
haha you are very welcome!
how do you solve it if the squared has a value for example 2x2+3x-5?
you can just use -b/2a or if completing the square need to factor out the 2 first, I have many examples
Wait so where is the domain and range part?
Does Sean know he is in your video?
First off, I really love your videos but i'm kind of confused on how the equation I was given to do this does not have a b value as in for example, it's f(x)=-x^2+4, no B, so what do I do in that case?
you do have a b it is 0 as in 0x
ohhhh, haha thank you!!
I wish u were my teacher 👨🏫
