300+ HP, room for 4 adults, weather proof and not limited by snow and ice, 25mpg on the highway, and zero-to-the-speed-limit in just a couple of seconds less than the Hellcat? All for under $30k? I'll buy.

Hey Matt! So when the Challenger came out about 10 (almost 11) years ago, I saw one in a magazine and fell in love with it. It was exactly the kind of car that I wanted to be made. It was basically a modernized muscle car with an old school look. So I began saving up for one ( I was in middle school when I started saving). It took a long time and a lot of work, BUT I finally saved up for one. Then, I began my research on which one to get. Then I realized that a lot of these were RWD. I'm from the Northeast and we get some nasty weather here. However, I need to be able to get to work when I'm called in regardless of the weather. This video answered all the questions I had and I eventually went and got myself one. I LOVE IT LIKE IT WAS MY FIRST BORN CHILD. Blindspot sensors, sunroof, leather/suede interior, Alpine sound system, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, and despite the fact that it's "just a v6" it's damn fast. Anyway, just wanted to say great video and keep it up!

4 years since you published your great review, and 1 year since I bought 2020 GT AWD, I just can fully agree with you. Stylish, roomy, comfortable, not that slow in fact, good mileage as well - simply great cruiser. AWD works well for winter roads. And, not bad sound for V6 too, at least for my ears.
Greetings from the heart of Europe

My girl has a 300 with the 3.6 and i had a rental challenger 3.6...... and tbh..... it really does pull hard up top..... coming from a ex lt1 vette owner. Also what really surprised me, on on and off ramps, the car handles itself much better than you could ever expect. Extremely competent. If your still driving relatively average cars from like 2005 and before, despite how it stacks up to current models, you will leave the test drive with a huge smile on your face.

  • @LostNbound

All these people crying because it's not a V8 lol. You've got like 4 other versions of this car that all have V8s so why are you bitching? The car still has over 300hp which isn't bad considering the fact that if you're buying an AWD version then chances are you're after traction due to the weather where you live. So having a V6 with lower hp, and AWD is what you're after.

    • @LordOnyx
      @LordOnyx 6 років тому +18

Capt Flea Especially with the fact that there is a supercharger kit available for the v6 challengers, there really shouldn't be any bitching. You CAN get V8 numbers with AWD with this car. I see the potential in this car and I plan to exploit that potential when I get the money for it.

And if you live in a snowy place there is plenty of power for hours of drifting , sideways fun. I bet this car with blizzaks or other hi po sno tire is more fun then driving a v 8 to work or other mundane stuff most people do in their cars mixed with a few power pulls here and there. Not a car for everybody but i can see why some people would want it.

This car is perfect for people who wants all season car and still have the look. And all the goodies inside. Perfect dialy. Roomy. And you don't have to worry about going to gas station everyday. Not sure why people get upset. Not a V8. I like how Dodge decided to let people decide. Older mustangs and Camaros were v6 as well.

  • @TheMilitantMachinist

Anyone who's opting for the V6 Challenger (either SXT or GT AWD) isn't buying this car to show off or do donuts in an intersection. They're buying it to drive ''mostly'' sensibly but still want a car than can still be fun if you felt like it. I could've gotten the V8 but still opted for a V6 GT AWD because I wanted to drive the car, not get pulled over every ten miles. Plus with all the theft of the Hemi's going on right now...kinda glad I did.

I agree with others that the GT is not really a muscle car, but more accurately has the muscle car look. I live in the snow belt, and just purchased two new GT's ( his and hers). Love the cars.
BTW...to everyone dissing the fact that is a V6. Let me tell you, this v6 has more horsepower than the 1970 318 and 340 v8's. The only thing missing on the GT is the rumble!

I totally get you as most likely an owner of a V6, as my self is really really breaking around this one with the V6 engine. I absolutely love the way they look, but with all due respect to all V6 owners, the V6 it self should never exist in challenger as challenger's greatest popularity came with greatest engines. V8 and up should replace all v6 models. With this car it is not about fuel consumption, it's about having the floor under your feet shaking from engine vibrations, and for that you need a big motor. 3.6L is just not big enough, maybe it is for something like luxury sedan, but not for a muscle car... I don't hate V6, i just don't think they belong into muscle cars..... Now Dodge, please build me that HEMI AWD please please please

The pony car class became defined by the Mustang, its namesake model. Pony cars are stylish, affordable, American cars that were generally built with mass production parts. They have two doors, four seats, and are “performance-oriented”, if not flat-out sporty.Jun 26, 2017
The term pony car is used to refer to sporty compact cars that are usually fitted with a small-block V8 engine or sometimes even a V6 engine. Muscle cars, on the other hand, are more muscular and bigger than pony cars. They usually have a big-block V8 under their hood.Jul 3, 2020

Drag strips, highways with a 120 speed limit, tracks, and general areas to go fast. And it sounds a lot better than a tiny V6.

That is exactly what my wife said when we bought our Chrysler 300 5.7L. She has now come to appreciate its passing power. Its not that I can't drive like Vin Diesel, but I shouldn't. It still happens though. We do actually use all that power and crave more.

I've had this car since Feb. and I can say I give it a rating of 9 0ut of 10. I had it on the hwy in Feb/March with snowy icy roads and it handled great. It is my everyday car and the V6 gives me 1. Gas mileage. 2. Lower insurance. What would the 392 give me? 1. 2 extra seconds from 0-60. Not really worth it. a HEMI will also up the cost to $45,000.

I wonder if there's room in the wells for 285/45R19's and would it gut the 305hp? Diameter would be virtually the same but would add 2" width to each tire. Bet it'd improve the street handling, just not sure if the drivetrain could handle the extra grip.

As an srt owner I have to play "devil's advocate " for a moment. Do yall v8 challenger owners realize yall paid 15 to 20 grand more for less than 2 seconds 0 to 60 time!....lol!! I dont get why people dump on the v6 challengers. They have 310 horses! Do yall remember the ss 454 chevy truck that had only a little more than 200 horses and people wanted that one bad!! Lol! It's all relative! Some days I wish I had a v6 ,especially when it come to fuel economy. Granted, I'm not going to lie when I get on it the extra power just outs a huge smile in my face ! Lol . But honestly that's not all the time as for the most part when I do drive it I'm just putting around town. I own a challenger mainly for the looks! I actually spend more time waxing and loving on it than I do ripping thru the gears so in that sense the v6 owners have the same thing! I've driven the v6 and while it's no quarter mile burner it does get out of it's own way nicely!

A baseball bat and lotion are interesting things to keep in your cars. Anyway, kudos to Dodge for building a car like this, but wonder why they didn't at least put the Hemi in it. I guess there isn't enough room.
I love that ZF transmission and have wondered why GM doesn't strike a deal with them to replace their slush box 8 speed. I wanted an auto in my Gen 6 SS, but went with a stick because of the slow shifts.

Very accurate review. I've had it exactly a month and put on about 2300 miles. The sad part is tomorrow it is going into the shop for the FOURTH time. The Uconnect unit has been replaced and the center instrument cluster keeps failing. I want to love this car but right now I hate it because of the reliability issues. For $38k I expected better.

I'm a Scat owner so very biased to the V8. With that being said I won't and can't hate on this car because it serves a specific market and I see them everywhere here in ND so obviously theyre a good sell. I just wonder what if dodge came back with the small v8 Magnum they had in the 2000s Dakotas/Durango maybe it would fit and still provide that sound but why bother, the v6 has over 300hp anyways.
