- Welcome to our fourth Celebrity Beyond cruise ship vlog. Today Celebrity Beyond is in Saint Maarten.
Today we have a full day excursion, an Adventure Island Tour booked via Caribbean Island Tours Facebook group: / caribbeanislandtours
Starting from Phillipsburg (the Capital of the Dutch side) where Celebrity Beyond docks, we stop at the border between the Netherlands Antilles and France. Our next stop is a short visit to see the iguanas in their natural habitat. We then make a short stop at Oyster Bay for a beautiful view from the mountain with the island of St Barts in the distance. Our next stop is then Orient Bay where we grab a cheeky cocktail.
We then visit Marigot, the capital on the French side, before we make our way to Maho Beach for Plane Spotting. Have you ever stood beneath the engines of a plane while it is landing?
Flying so low that you can almost touch them, this is what St. Maarten is known for - an experience of a lifetime.
After the beach, we start making our way back to Celebrity Beyond, but first, a stop to make some new friends, the pigs!
Back onboard Celebrity Beyond, we head to the Mast Grill for lunch and after watch the sail away from the Magic Carped, where the yellow hand makes an appearance as we wave over to P&O Britannia.
Celebrity Beyond has a number of shows, tonight's was Elements. As our dinner clashed with the show, we just watched from the back on the theatre, before then making our way to dinner at the Tuscan restraint.

We are bananas about cruising! We started cruising in 2014 by doing a mini cruise on P&O Aurora. Making videos of our cruises and sharing our experiences has become our hobby - the complete video is filmed and edited on an iPhone. The videos are our opinions and experiences while on board - really they are us having fun and brining you along with us!
We may not be the youngest cruisers but we are trying to break the stereotype that cruising is for retired people. On a cruise you will normally find us wondering around the ship taking in the atmosphere (and working our way through the cocktails).
We have sailed on Celebrity Cruises, P&O Cruises, Cunard Line, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Avalon Waterways. We'd love to try Ambassador Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Fred Olsen, Holland America (HAL), Disney Cruises, Carnival Cruises, Costa, Aida, Marella and Celestyal.

@@CruiseMonkeys yes I bet it is absolutely lovely to do the cruise round the Caribbean. We have done a week in Barbados, but it is that horrible flight coming home that destroys all of the relaxation you have had. Any tips guys?

Pigs planes and Lizards! I have never been but have decided, St Maarten is my favourite Caribbean island. Booked a mini cruise, and a week long cruise, next year, fingers crossed, Julie will be ok, both cruises, are with P&O. Thanks a lot for the video.

The Iguanas look so cool, kinda prehistoric, we have lace monitors where I live in Queensland, they easy be 1.5-2 meters long but not so scary looking lol Seems like a great value tour 👍

What a fun one 😂. That tour really good fun and the little piggies were so cute 🐖. Have to say the ship is growing on me, especially like the high ceiling in the buffet. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! They were super cute! Aye, we agree, that double height buffet really does open that area up and makes it feel less claustrophobic compared to buffets on other ships 😀

Caribbean beaches are beautiful-too bad not more beach time. I hate iguanas! I need to see the whole island… I’d hate to land on that runway! Pigs are so cute (and you had bacon for breakfast!). Yes we booked the excursion through Caribbean island tours they have a Facebook page where you can book your trips etc.
Tuscan grill/ restaurant is one of the four main dining rooms onboard they all have a different theme and menu to accompany that theme, they’re all complimentary restaurants.
The chargeable dining venues are the Eden restaurant, the French bistro/le petit chef, le voyage restaurant, the fine cut steakhouse, raw on 5 and the rooftop garden grill.
The drinks packages fluctuate all the time, we went for the classic package which includes drinks up to the value of $10 there is another package which is dearer but includes more drink’s however we were happy enough on the classic package and if we wanted a drink out of our package we’d have it as a treat.

Miss Britannia..our last Caribbean cruise in 2019 🥺 my next mission is the Celebrity Edge class ..….im torn…..been to Mayo beach ..only saw a small plane come in…you have to stand there for hours 😩…your vlogs are the best ❤️ lighthearted and fun….I know Gavin takes care of Luke when he gets abit squiffy 🤗🤗 good lad 💪🏼💪🏼 I’m going to bed now as I feel.’ A little on fire’ as spent afternoon sunbathing in garden 🤪🤣 x
We really like Britannia, need a trip back on her again. Yeah, the Edge ships are stunning! Now we’ve done Maho, we probably wouldn’t again, as you say you have to time it right and it’s also quite crowded, a passing visit is enough, would rather spend time at Orient Beach (the clothed part of the beach haha).

This was the Adventure tour from we booked independently through Caribbean Island Tours Facebook group as we booked a few different ones: m.facebook.com/groups/822293368132085/ - pay a small deposit and then cash on the day to the driver. The tour was ‘Bernard’s Tours’ so we had people on our little bus that were either holidaying on the island or on the other ship also in.

How long did you get at Maho beach and what time did you get back to the ship? Quite fancy this trip but the wife wants time back in Philipsburg for some shopping 😢😁

The trip started at 10am and was a full day. We had about an hour and a half at the beach and think we were back around 5pm. The ship didn’t sail till 7pm (going by tine stamps on the photos) hope that helps 😀
That sounded like a plane close by as you left St Maarten when you were on way to Sunset bar was it ?😊

The dress code is quite casual on celebrity- we were jeans and shirts mostly, like we’d wear if going out to see friends :)

This one we booked through Owena who runs Caribbean Island Tours on Facebook. Far more reasonable 😀 Easy to get excursions in port in the Caribbean too

Looks like a great day! Did you get to visit Great Bay Beach at all? I'm a bit reluctant to book outside of the cruise ship offerings incase we get delayed for some reason & miss the boat. Is that a non issue? What time did you get back to the ship and when did it set sail? Thanks
No, don’t think we did as we went to Orient Bay beach for a stop then Moho. This tour was via Caribbean Island Tours who used Bernard Tours, a very reputable tour operator - they are used to cruise ships, it’s their break and butter and they will make sure you get back on time. Just let the driver know you all aboard time and they usually get you back in time to do some shopping etc - it’s not really an issue on these islands.

Plus, how safe are the destinations? As a long traveller would my possessions be safenon the beach unattended?

Oh fab! We had both, so independent tours we paid cash, you’ll aldo want some cash for tips, toilet and small purchases. At the established bars we use cards without any issue.
We felt safe at the tourist spots, but not sure about leaving stuff unattended or too far away from you, just like anywhere else to be honest. Some beaches you do pay for a lounger and etc, so you may be able to hide it under a towel
