"I'm Chuck Bass, the love of her life, anyone else is just a waste of time."
Those words aged really really well. Chuck spoke nothing but the truth. He was right. Any other man Balir was with was a gigantic waste of time because she akways circled back to Chuck.

The title seems to insinuate that Chuck was the problem (he was) but let's make it clear that Blair was never over him in the first place. Like sure it can be painted as him trying to ruin Blair's relationships but the truth is Blair didn't ever not want Chuck to completely get out of her life and stop fighting for her.

yeah, my mother feels similarly to blair about my sibling's father - she's still not over him, and she grows giddy everytime he puts on a show of "fighting for her love". i don't think she'll ever be over him, despite the fact that he: *serially cheated* on her, *spat* on her and their 3 month old child, *r@ped* her while pregnant, *destroyed* and *broke into* our home on numerous occasions, tried to *stab* me at at *13* years old, told her that no one would ever love her and that she's a "disgusting, whorish cunt" because she's mentally ill and was *molested* as a child, etc etc etc. yeah, despite that horrific treatment, she still loves him and desires he fight for her and play these same games that chuck does with blair.
i suppose, because my mother wants him to want her, that means my mother's ex's behaviour can be justified? the same way that you attempt to implicitly-justify chuck's behaviour because blair "never got over him" and wanted him to "fight for her"? the answer to that is an obvious no. *NO* my mother wanting to be wanted by her abuser doesn't justify his behaviour even an *inch* and *NO* blair wanting to be wanted by chuck doesn't justify chuck's behaviour in the slightest.
having difficulties getting over an abuser (if ever) and wanting your abuser to lust after you are *CLASSIC* behaviours of victims of domestic abuse; the foundation in which domestic abuse is laid upon is the slow and subtle manipulation of the victim, prior to the abuse taking root. victims are reeled back in by the adrenaline and passion their abusers bring to their lives, which is what makes domestic abuse *specifically* so difficult to escape from - even if you're aware of how you're being maltreated by your partner, you slowly start to grow accustomed to that treatment and begin to believe you enjoy it. but this isn't true, this is what abusers bank on to keep control over their victims. people like blair don't stay because they enjoy their abusers "fighting" for them and being possessive over them, they stay because they're (however subconsciously) believing that these grand displays of "fighting for love" will eventually lead to better treatment and loyalty from their abusers. they're clinging to hope that their abuser will change. however unintentionally, the writers of gossip girl wrote "chair" to be the textbook definition of domestic abuse (under all its categories; in some way or another). it's subtle, but they even wrote chuck's mistreatment of blair as a slow and gradual process that starts off with him being nigh-perfect and lovebombing her, with the outwardly-abusive behaviours he exhibits only beginning to rear their ugly head after she intially ended their weird situationship in season 1.
chuck and blair's relationship was the perfect on-screen example of an abusive relationship. chuck covers every base for domestically-abusive traits and behaviours, and - similarly - blair acts like the textbook example of a victim of domestic abuse; hell, season 3 even has her attempt to "settle" for him, under the pretence that she believed she was just as bad as him and deserving of that treatment (blair is an objectively-bad person, but she's a far cry from chuck's level of villainy and nothing she does over the course of the show's run makes her deserving of being trapped in an abusive relationship). it's fine to ship chair, but it is disgusting and ridiculous to try and paint the ship as being equally toxic, or as blair holding some level of ownership over chuck's mistreatment of her all because she subconsciously enjoyed the attention and held hopes to reconcile their relationship.
i'm not sure if it was your intention to portray their relationship in that way, however that's how your comment reads; you trying to excuse some of chuck's actions and justify your own enjoyment of the relationship by stating that blair enjoys these behaviours. it's fine to enjoy "chair" in a vacuum, but attempting to analyse their dynamic requires the utmost-delicacy

True, they’re toxic, but literally every couple was toxic, and honestly like it or not, Gossip Girl would be nothing without Chuck and Blair. People complain about their toxicity, but without their dramas no one would have watched the show, it would have been boring

@@vivekiyer2203 No, with Eva was faking, his best version is in S5/S6, and honestly Blair was the only one who could see the real Chuck, sad and vulnerable, with all the others he had a defense mechanism and never showed himself for what he really was

I love Chuck's personality. I would always make such a friend my best buddy! After dating numerous women who played sneaky games with my mind, I've put them into their right place. I saw everything coming in my relationships, always 10 steps ahead of the rest. Finally, I discovered my true love, a strong Taurus woman. 39 years and counting on!
