I'd rate this episode right up there with Buffy the Vampire Slayer 'The Body.' Both showed the different stages of grief and how people handle it differently. Also, Elena being a vampire (a new one at that) with her emotions heightened made it even worse for her. That's why I honestly don't get the Elena hate. She was just a teen, a teen who had a lot happen to her in a short amount of time. Who lost all of her family in a short amount of time. Was she perfect? No. But I really liked Elena's character (flaws and all) and Nina's portrayal. I just wish they would have done her 'no-humanity' bit justice (made her a bit darker and more dangerous) rather than just a typical mean-girl...I feel she could have been one of the darker characters on the show as her emotions (her compassion) was her strength. I don't think they took her far enough or did her justice. I also feel she should have been the one to kill Matt, as he was her link to her humanity (her weakness) and a reminder of who she was and who she used to be. He shouldn't have been brought back with the ring as that was cheap...That was one of the major downfalls of this show, constantly bringing characters back (which cheapened the impact of their deaths) while others didn't get the same treatment...That and constantly turning Stefan and Damon's humanity on/off...got REALLY old. Elena and Caroline, I get. The others? Been there and done that...to death. I also was not a fan of how everyone got 'cured' of vampirism...but I digress.

I had to rewatch this bc Lexie and Rick was in it lol

Caroline Forbes has a very interesting personality. She is beautiful but complicated. '"I heard Elena yelling.'" Great way to explain something.

Stephan is a good guy, no doubt but it seems he was always trying to change to a better version of himself. Damon on the other hand, he always admitted he was a bad boy, although every one tried to change him, they couldn't . He just made Alena question everything. Women would not admit it but the love mystery and uncertainty .
