I used his reamer rental twice. The last time was to finish ream a .270 Win barrel for my M1 Garand. Sweet shooting out of the M1 and accurate to boot. :)
I have a copy of both the 1st (2005) and 2nd (2024) edition of Zeglin's "Reloader's Handbook of Wildcat Cartridge Design". The second edition is an updated version with more stuff in it. Definitely a good read for any and all Handloaders
These are really great books - the information is, of course, great, but the writing is clear, concise and the books are all VERY readable. Fred is obviously extremely knowledgaable but he's also an excellent writer.
I know Fred well, his book on Ackley chambering should be required reading for anyone clambering for one of those cartridges. I've seen so many Ackley re-chamber jobs that are screwed up, it's apparent that there are many past and present gunsmiths that don't understand the concept.
I’d be willing to send you my 270 tikka and have you make it a 270 Ackley improved. It would be interesting to see the difference in ballistic performance.
I’ve got my grandfathers 270 Mashburn Super Mag rifle from the 50s on a 53 W Germany Mauser receiver. Think the last book would help in identifying loads? Not sure how to get this puppy started. Only material I can find is PO Ackley Handbook V2 and that’s only a paragraph
Mic, to me, seems to make simple things complicated. I have his book and read some of his writting and wonder if it could not be explained better. And the use of his proprietor cartridges were very expensive.
"P.O Ackley was some dude?" Pretty poor way to respect a very influential gunsmith, writter and manufacturer. The man, in part, created the space you "play" in totay. Maybe you should've read the book on him from Fred first! Pretty disrespectful IMHO
Not a bad guy either so I hear lol. I love seeing my dad's books out in the wild thanks for posting this
I thought his last name was zeppelin

Just ordered the books. I'm happy to support 4d Rentals. I haven't used Fred's service yet but plan to in the future. Thank you for posting this. :-)
Great idea. In these times of ammo scarcity, may as well learn something new.

Definitely books on my list of “need to read”; especially since the next few years are all about our society learning to be resilient. 😉 great video!
Have all of those and I believe all of Gordy's DVDs.
Awesome!

I have last two, see I need two more. Excellent info
Thanks for sharing. You are always helpful
The .300 HAM'R or 30-30 AR is there a platform to build and reload that will make it though the next 4 years.
I need to get those for future knowledge.
Not many people, mainly the younger generation, know who P. O. Ackley is. I have a 30/30 and 06 chambered in Ackley
Gracious!

Does he have books on revolver pistols and their repair
If you don’t have it already, pick up Gunsmithing Pistols and Revolvers, 4th Edition by Patrick Sweeney. This is an excellent work on the subject.
Whats the chances of getting you and eric cortina to buddy up for a rifle build/shoot vid or series?????
Books are nice... But have you subscribed to the amazing youtube channel called "gavintoobe"? LOL
👍👍
Maybe an SMc cartridge.
Mic McPherson/By Smalley brainchild.
