Dr Disrespect SHUTS DOWN Joe Rogan Podcast Appearance

  • Dr Disrespect has said the he will NOT go on the Joe Rogan Experience. In a recent stream, a chatter asked if he would - and Doc said quickly that if he was going to do a podcast, he was going to do it his way regardless of how many requests he gets. Do you think Joe Rogan could handle 3 hours of the Two-Time?!

@Noodles Scales I should also say that he specified people that have taken it beyond a hobby and even mentions sports in his argument. I suggest watching it because he makes a good point. Even if it's sports, if you're playing sports with no plan and don't make money nor plan to buy spend all of your time doing it, you'd be screwing yourself over. It's a little different with sports because you're getting physically fit with it and it's actually gratifying, but I think it can apply to everything. It wasn't a discussion just about video games, but they were the primary example

@Kartzzy and once again y'all are assuming it has to take me somewhere can I not just play video games for 2 hours a day to have fun? Is that really so much to ask? Is that really so childish nowadays that we can't do it? You all act like you either do something to turn a profit or you do something to waste time that there's no other option that there's no other way you can spend your day, I'm here to tell you that's wrong! People are allowed to play paddle ball if they enjoy it, people are allowed to masturbate if they enjoy it, people allowed to read a book if they enjoy it BECAUSE NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO MAKE MONEY!!
And I know I'm right on this because when I brought this same talking point up to my family and asked a bunch of them what they thought of it they all gave the same answer "yeah but you can say that about any activity". And that's been the pretty consistent version when I talk to ANYONE in the real world about this.

Video games are one of my favorite things in life, and I agree with Joe Rogan. I have wasted so much of my time with them, I messed up a lot of my opportunities because of them. But the feeling I get when getting into a new game(specially an open world) is that of complete freedom and youth. But I think games that are pvp are not very good for me. They were addicting, I have thousands of hours in them, but most of the time I wasn’t even enjoying myself, it was just a toxic energy. And it didn’t ever give me anything other than small feeding of my ego. Right now all I want in my FREE TIME is to either play single players and open worlds or play multiplayer with my friends, and what I get from it is completely worth it. Like being a kid again, when I actually played games because they were fun.

@Hiro You do realize that your "Spending your time trying to satisy your hedonistic brain" either way seeing as spending all your time worrying about money & social status is every bit as hedonistic. This whole logic of "If it doesnt make money its a waste of time" is the type of mindset of someone who will still be miserable with 10 million in the bank compared to the dude living out in the woods with nothing loving his life. I know Im ranting a bit but I feel like this logic goes WAY beyond video games & this fixation on making more $ then your neighbor is mad unhealthy.

Its not mutually exclusive you can be succesfull & play video games, some of the richest people in the world are even nerdier then this comment section (like Elon). This can be applied to just about anything, is spending time with your dog now a waste of time just bc its not making you money?? @Words The problem is that with the currently gaming landscape there no way to possibly enjoy gaming without placing 5+ hours a day doing it. You only game for 1-2 hours 4 days a week? you're fighting against someone who does 5-8 everyday. You either step up or quit and judging how popular fortnite and warzone is rather than indie/coop/singleplayer gaming is most people are stepping up. So many people want to deny this in the comments so for those who do please tell me how to casually play online gaming/shooters and actually not get destroyed everytime. Please tell me your secrets. You can't even play Phantom Forces without getting murked (Don't judge me roblox is cheap and you enjoy it too)

@Sir Switch Crookington so let me ask you if I play videos games on a average of 6 hours on a work day and probably about 10 hours on the weekend but here’s the thing I would never in my life blow off any of my friends to play video games, also I would never in my life call out of work to play video games, so am I a addict or someone who’s trying to enjoy there free time, because anything that releases dopamine in your brain is addictive, people who play sport professionally are they addicted to their sport or people who go to the gym for multiple hours of the day and that’s their life like the world’s strongest man are they addicted to fitness or people like Rogan who sit around and debate all day are they addicted to the debate, it only seems to be a problem when it’s gaming or something that a mass majority of young people do when it was skateboarding people had something to say about that, when it was the roaring 20’s and females wore “slutty” attire an would dance people had something to say about that, shoot you listen to music everyday don’t you, guess what your addicted cause I can guarantee, you wouldn’t be able to get through your work out without music, you would get bored probably cause your body is used to the dopamine music releases into your body, causing you to want to work out harder, or go on a drive and see how boring that drive is and try to tell me you wouldn’t be thinking that entire ride “I wish I had music” see what I’m saying, anything you enjoy doing can be a addiction but you would rather slap a harsh term on a enjoyable act and call it a day honestly pretty sad

    • Shuga_knips

@inkblowout dude I’m sorry but that is stupid and proved yourself wrong by saying “you can do a lot of thing in 6 hours like focusing on my hobbies and hanging with friends” yeah cause gaming isn’t a hobby in which you can get online and talk to your friends and many people across the world learning new things about those people, learning how their culture and society works, oh and not all people who play games for long periods of time are just shut ins I mean I’m a night person so I like to go out at night and stay in during the day so to pass the time I play games and then go out with my friends at nights is that weird or a crime, I mean i work through my week I’m productive to society but because you like to spend 4 hours to go out with your friends and have fun and I spend 4 hours staying inside and playing games with my friends having fun(which might I add is what matters in your life, fun is just humor it’s subjective) but it’s weird no, it’s essentially the same thing with one difference and that is one is online and people think that’s weird since it’s such a new thing

Instead of denouncing Joe he should actually use joe's platform. He could inform Joe of the aspects of gaming that he might not have been privy to. He could teach Joe how some games with intensive teamwork and problem solving being the focal point is actually good for people in the same way sports or mma is a mental excersize as well as a physical workout. Video games also teach you the importance of loss and and the importance of adaptation to improve your overall experience. Of course video games aren't good to be investing all of your time into but they're definitely not all bad. I've actually learned so many things from video games Such as the importance of reverse engineering problems to find a different approach instead of the same ineffective head on approach, The importance of practice making perfect, And the importance of having patience and never giving up. Of course you could just mindlessly play video games but you could also gleam a lot from modern day video games. Even though I myself wasted a lot of my time playing video games in my adolescence those lessons I learned, believe it or not actually paid off. I play video games rarely nowadays but I still wouldn't trade the valuable lessons that I learned And also had a kick a** time playing them. Dr. Should do on.

I’m a GAMER and Joe is definitely right. Is there anything wrong with playing games for fun as a hobby? Not at all. But the chances you’ll “make it” anywhere as a gamer, be it a professional or content creator are incredibly low. Tens of millions of people are trying to do it across the world and only a few thousand out of them actually “make it.”

Joe isn't wrong. They're fun, and they do a good job of making it so you enjoy yourself but it trick your productive mind into doing something unproductive. You can spend 20hrs leveling up to beat a boss but at the end of it you don't have anything positive to show other than the boss is beaten. That is time that could be spent learning new skills, working out, or being social. Some video games do allow social connections but it's still not the same as face to face interaction.
Look at the people who got sucked in by world of warcraft and by the end of it they were physically and socially damaged. It's something that is only to be enjoyed in moderation and with the understanding you're choosing the hamster wheel rather than walking forward.
My life got considerably better when i stopped playing video games

    Cringe.
I don’t even like Joe Rogan that much, but he’s right. I like playing video games, but not to the degree I know many other guys do.
I’ll play maybe 2-4 hours of halo a week. And I’m pretty damn good at halo 3 and halo reach.
But there are people who play video games for like 30 hours a week. That’s just an absolute waste of your life. In game Achievements are all good and they make you feel good in the moment. But you forget about them. You may remember like a dozen- two dozen Great moments you’ve had playing where you were awesome. That’s really all you take away. Then you move on to the next game. Then the next game. It’s just rinse and repeat.
I’m not saying don’t game. It’s fun. I would criticise anyone who binges tv shows like that too. They’re like the same thing. If you think people who watch tv for 6 hours straight, or movies for 6 hours are losers, but you game for the same hours regularly, guess what, by your own definition you’re a loser.

    • Leirs Deirs
      Leirs Deirs 20 днів тому

@SpeedygonTJ I didn’t say hang out with your friends everyday, I’m just saying playing 4-5 hours a day isn’t the best options. Maybe a couple days out the week sure, but you can do things like find a side hustle, hang out with, friends, exercise, pick up a sport/maybe learn self defense, and also play video games. I’m just saying you need some balance instead of doing the same thing every day.

    • SpeedygonTJ
      SpeedygonTJ 20 днів тому

@Leirs Deirs as I already pointed out people are busy. Jobs, girlfriends, also wanting to do other things besides hanging out. I can't see my friends every month let alone every day. Personally and depending on the kind of games you play and if you play with friends I can get that social interaction from gaming.

    • Leirs Deirs
      Leirs Deirs 20 днів тому

@SpeedygonTJ Unless you are extremely introverted spending time with people is productive. @Grandpa Ned Exercise is entirely different and has a significantly smaller population that deals with the drawbacks of overdoing it. Video gaming is a lot more accessible and takes significantly less discipline to get the dopamine you need. A gaming console is in most homes with a male in it (I assume) not everyone has weights or a gym membership. The problem with any addiction is that it short circuits your brain's dopamine and conditions you that it's good. Which is why it's way more likely to get addicted to food, masturbation, drugs, gaming, etc. It's so available you'd have a trouble discipline something that your body think it's good for you. With a current industry where you can't game casually without being spanked but you have to game for hours every day to even be decent you can't tell me most people are training their addiction.

Yeah productivity is subjective. Half of the crap people find "productive" to me is a waste of time or unnecessary.
To me productivity is the thing that makes you happy. If youre earning a lot of money, but hate your job. Sorry, but you're losing in life compared to the dude who has a full time job and just plays games on their free time and enjoys it.

Although I can agree to an extent with Joe Rogan, wouldn't that be the same thing with sports? A great majority of people never get anywhere with them and they had to physically place rules to make sure students still needed decent grades in order to participate. Some people play in highschool, College, and then ride that high for the next 60 years with the, "You know, I was pretty good tbh" thought on their mind. Sure, you get exercise and that's cool but I could also just play games AND go to the gym. Idk why gaming is crapped on as if it's the END ALL BE ALL devils water that you need to be super careful around. There are plenty of useless things in life that are fun but also a waste of time.
