On the short list of the finest half hours of episodic television. The writing, the performances, the insights into the human experience and family relationships... and some mighty good slapstick!
"Underrated???"... Major awards, magazine covers, talk shows, high ratings, a million bucks an episode? How is this 'underrated'? Hunt used her leverage from "Mad About You" to get feature film roles, including As Good As It Gets, which won her an Oscar. (I didn't like it)
@@BeautifulSpirit-kf5ld Helen Hunt is a wonderful actress. My favorite movie is As Good As It Gets. She and Jack Nicholson were excellent and what fabulous chemistry.
I LOVE this show ,miss it soooo much. Paul and Jamie were adorable together. They say marriages aren't like that ,but they CAN be if you really love each other. 😍
Noooo... It's not that easy. You need the holy Spirit; you need to worship together. The human ego cannot sustain a long marriage. if you see a long marriage, it will be misery in private. Fighting or ignoring. (Later in the series, these two have serious issues, and break up at least once. And that's season five...after only five years of marriage . Paul did leave her. )
I remembered this theme song word for word and i havent heard it since Lifetime stopped playing reruns over ten years ago😂 do I remember what I ate for dinner three days ago? No. Do I remember most of Japanese language, which i took in school for 10 years? Nope. But I remember every word of this song😂 Lisa always reminded me of my aunt cathy growing up lol
Let's see...Mad About You, Seinfeld, Friends and Caroline in the City were all essentially based in the same NY universe, yes? Didn't they all have crossover episodes at some point?
Somewhat. Phoebe's twin sister Ursula was a waitress on Mad About You, Kramer lived in Paul's old apartment. I don't recall Caroline in the City mixing in there.
@@epbrown01 oh wow just looked it up caroline actually ties a lot of things together including NY and Boston! She appeared on an episode of Friends where I believe she met Chandler, but she also appeared on an episode of Frasier which of course ties back to Cheers in Boston which also had crossover episodes with other shows based in Boston such as Wings and St. Elsewhere!
Paul is the owner of Kramer's apartment, Michael Richards has a guest appearance in one episode when Paul visits Jerry's building to talk to Kramer. Jerry appears as Jerry himself, the stand up comedian, in the episode when Paul tries Viagra for the first time and has to walk on the street a little stiff... Lisa Kudrow was able to stick with Ursula's part in "Mad Abou You" while playing Phoebe in "Friends", that's why they created the twin sisters storyline. Jamie and Fran appears in the opening of a "Friends" episode entering the cafe and mistaking Phoebe for Ursula. They couldn't say that they were in fact Jamie and Fran but it's them. If I'm not mistaken "Caroline in the City" had a crossover with "Friends" but not "MAY"...
The Friends episode "The One With the Blackout" aired right after the the episode where Jamie causes the blackout by trying to steal cable access. In fact it was two episodes before this one....
Trivia fun fact = John Pankow ("Ira") is the younger brother of James Pankow, trombone player and founding member of the band "Chicago"... James wrote the classic hits, "Make Me Smile", "Colour My World", "Just You 'N' Me", "(I've Been) Searchin' So Long", "Old Days", and "Alive Again".
I've had three steaming subscriptions, and this is show is not on any of them. It should be on all of them, and you pay for the one that is the easiest to use.
Because she wanted to not be criticized for making a mistake, and/or approval, and/or for everyone to be happy. (Depending on which you are talking about. )
@@dominique4432 I just asked Google. Frozen turkeys are supposedly very cheap this year. However, that show was about 15 years ago, I think. Still, the stores want people to buy turkeys, so inreal life, they are priced affordably. Going by chickens, raw chicken is about twice as expensive as turkey, I think. Cooked chicken is much more expensive. I think I have seen prebaked chicken for maybe $5, on sale, about 5 or 10 years ago. I have never seen a prebaked turkey for sale. Especially not at a tiny neighborhood convenience store. (Not even a baked chicken, not there. But, yes, at almost any big grocery store, a baked chicken of some sort.) So, going with the fantasy that perhaps in Greenwich village, you *can* buy a precooked turkey in a convenience store, it would probably be at least $30-$50, is my wild guess. Possibly more, because it is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in new York (not quite for rich people, but comfortably middle class). They had a clean and functional apartment building. But, on a holiday, especially at dinner time, ready made food is extra expensive. So, in reality, they would either have awful credit debt, or be spending several weeks of grocery money, to afford all those turkeys. In the make believe land of silly sitcoms, it's just supposed to be funny when people care more about what others think about them than they care about what things cost. Especially when they keep failing to succeed, they just keep buying a new item. It's only funny to people who have at least that much money, and not even all of them. To others, it's a sad or incomprehensible waste.
Something about her character always rubbed me the wrong way. Everything she would express was this weird whiney or negative tone. Paul was a saint like many who live with a spouse like that.
😍THE 1990S WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME TO BE ALIVE IF WE ONLY KNEW THAT THEN😍
I absolutely agree

Why can't they be honest about the turkey. They wasted so much money on three turkeys. They left their pet dog unattended.
So what if they bought a turkey from the convenience store? So what? It's nothing to be ashamed of.
