Nope, Evolution has still got the tone for me. I'm checking wether i get a 19 or a 17 with my 16/18 and 18 Ozone HHX Evolution crashes...first i try a 20hhx xplosion.

Complex is darker and warmer, would say more harmonic to me.
But both sounds good, the complex maybe great 😀

I have a 19" complex crash and love it. In person, they sound much different than recorded. Hard to find used. I got mine on eBay For $235 and after tax and shipping it was $270. Still a great buy compared to $444.00 new.

Evolution for rock and metal, complex for everything else.

I use SABIAN cymbals! I use two 18 crashes from their AA and B8X lines, a 22” ride cymbal from their XSR line and a 10” splash cymbal from their AA line! I hope to add more SABIAN Cymbals to my drum set.

Complex. The Evolution only works with other crashes. Because its so thin it has no attack or build up. It really doesnt cut. Which is why I never got one. I went with a Artisan 19” and Fierce 19”. The evolutions have a clean sound, but I sold my 16” way back when because it was too thin, it wobbled way too much and just didnt have the volume of other darker cymbals.

Maybe because it was a 16" ...I have the 19 evo and its a great cmbal that cut, but yeah I prefere the complex less harsh to the ears and beautiful sound
