I go to FAU in Boca Raton (now remotely due to covid tho) and I sometimes drive down to Ft. Lauderdale on weekends to check out some ships and chill out on the beach. Awesome place! :D

Try to park your car at Lago Mar Resort. Then go to the semi-private beach and head south. Beautiful, free, rock Jetty on the north side of channel facing John Lloyd State Park.
