OK so I know nobody’s gonna believe me when I say this, because I wouldn’t even believe myself, but it’s true. I met Jesse Weil once. I was going to a Guide Dog camp in Sandy, Oregon, and he was going to Portland, Oregon to star in tick tick boom. we were on the same flight, and it was really early in the morning I remember. We sat in the same row. My mom ended up going with me just to chaperone me and ensure that I got to the camp safely, so I sat in between them. I had no idea who he was before our encounter, but I was and still a theater nerd, and love tick tick boom. We didn’t get to talk very much because he slept most of the time and I had my headphones in, but now looking back, it’s still cool that I got to meet him. he sounds incredible here!

Loved this production. It took me a while to warm up to the lead actor playing Tevye because he was younger than I was used to - think Topol, Theodore Bikel, Herschel Bernardo, etc. BUT he brought a freshness to the role and explored a new way of bringing pathos/bathos & humor to the role. The scene where he & his wife learned of Chava’s elopement with Fyedka...and later his rejection of the same daughter was gut-wrenching.
The choreography and staging is fresh and new and NOT the ole Jerome Robbins choreography. This was even MORE VIBRANT & ELECTRIC (like you thought it could not be improved even more) fitting for the 21st century.
The sets, costumes, lighting, the orchestra, and of course the ACTORS did (for lack of a better word) an EXCELLENT job in bringing us, the audience to mingle with them...get to know their humanity...their struggles in their little town of Anatevka.
One of the best Broadway classics that will NEVER EVER BE OUTDATED or IRRELEVANT. I never get tired watching Fiddler On The Roof as an audience or having been part of it (Avhram). It is a very very special show.
When I saw the tour, the man sitting behind me quipped afterward, "that was the most youthful Teyve I've ever seen, and I've seen high school productions." Thought that was so funny. He gave a wonderful performance!
I just went to the show in San Antonio. He stood out as the best singer in the show. His voice and acting were phenomenal.
The four dislikes are from Romanov loyalists.
