  • After waiting 10 years, Casey Putsch dusts off his creation and gets real world performance and MPG data to see if his invention will be the sustainably recyclable automotive industry game changer he envisioned after being angered by the lies of American politicians in 2008. This video is the first of three and is an thoughtful overview of the car. The second video will be MPG testing. The third video will be 0-60mph testing against a Tesla Model 3, a C7 Corvette, and a Dodge Viper RT/10.

      Most of our gasoline has ethanol in it which is corrosive to a lot of older fuel systems and it makes it have a shelf life. Now newer diesels are being wrecked by DEF, which is highly corrosive and some trucks computer will not allow it run without DEF... It's almost like they wan to ensure that everything grinds to a halt not too long after the spigots are turned off.

    That opening was everything that's going through my head on a daily basis.
    I'm trying to do my part to spread awareness of this because at the end of the day, this only works if we all work together.
    I'll die on this hill if I have to. Getting out of this spiral, we're in takes sacrifice. I'll do everything in my power to help society move in the right direction and hope others do the same.

    If you were in Europe you could've pulled a 1.2 from a Lupo 3L. Those things manage 90mpg with ease and they have a garbage 5 speed AMT stock (which doesn't like shifting after the mounts go bad and are beyond easy to swap a 6spd manual into). Aluminium and magnesium body with magnesium wheels on a car that's 3000 on the used market though. With a streamlined body like that I'd wager it'd half that for way less money than it cost VW to build the XL1.

    One way you may be able yo accomplish a goal similar to this is either share everything for free, or to set it up more like a kit car where the end user buys the frame and body from you but sources everything else themselves and throws it together

    The most you have said is that's it's a Turbo diesel. So If I personally wanted to get that power and efficiency I would push hard into Yachting.

    In 1990 I was at a major university, stating in their architecture program. In one of the largest classes I had ever been in(600 students), was an intro to architecture. In that class one of the lectures was talking about the future of architecture. Strangely enough the newest architectural element(stated in class), was the geodesic dome created in the 40's. Of course the professor was going on about some guys in San Fran, working in all sorts of new materials, techniques, etc. Many years later I was working with a friend, who was one of my professor's way back when(not for the intro class). I asked what became of the guys in San Fran. He told me they were stopped dead at the regulators. The political class's silent stormtroopers. That's the sad part of the real world, for those in power hate it when things advance. That means more work for them, but they do like when advancements mean more power for them. That's where our world is right now.

    I always thought a hybrid transmission similar to the prius mated to a small diesel would be an ideal combo.
    Diesel efficiency with the performance benefits of a cvt transmission (25% better acceleration). Then have a clutch lock things together for cruising, where the engine stays at about 80% throttle for maximum efficiency and the electric motor that is normally used for transmission cvt duty adds power to the wheels to help uphill or draws power downhill to store in the batteries to regulate cruising speeds

    Critical mineral mining is an extremely energy intensive activity, and one that today runs on hydrocarbons. It could not function otherwise. The use of coal and gas is vital in refining the minerals through various thermal and chemical processes. For instance, blending, to aid the removal of other metals, and in heating to high temperatures to produce more pure forms. Petroleum-based products are also used for excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks on site, as well as various forms of transportation to move minerals from supply to demand centers.
    And here is the killer fact--- The oil industry, renewables and EVs are not separate from each other. They do not work in silos.
    The irony is, large scale thirsty fossil fuel powered equipment is essential to extract the minerals to build the batteries for the cars that pretend they are taking us off fossil fuel.

    I always liked Carrol Smith's rather "modular take" on cars where he basically looked at the engine as a box of a certain size that makes torque and is supplied by the engine builder.
    So that leaves "everything else" as your fun playground.
    The interesting thing about the Omega car comes down to the material science of the structure. Been trying to noodle out what the chassis is built from which would be 'ultra recyclable'. It looks like a foam shape with a composite surface so my guesses circle around that.
    🤔Midwest area with farming... Could a hard foam be made out of a natural plant material? (Found a paper about foamed wheat straw fiber but it is composited with polypropylene.) For a composite surface plant fibers such as hemp would be an easy choice but that still leaves what to use as the matrix that is weatherproof, recyclable, and not a fire hazard...
    And whatever the structure is it must be accessible to the "one off" production scale of a DIY prototype.

    • @BrokeWrench
      @BrokeWrench Місяць тому +2

      I suspect its aluminum based. Also ive seen foamed aluminum panels before. That would be an incredible basis to build a car around

    • @BorkToThe3rd
      @BorkToThe3rd Місяць тому

      @@BrokeWrench - Interesting idea. After seeing the 2nd video I'm still going with some sort of an odd composite. He talks about panels changing size and size and you can see the roof has distorted.
      Thinking about the foamed aluminum: I'm thinking that it would be awesome for structure in the crush zones. If you roll it up it would make a great bumper with a urethane cover to make it 'pretty'.

    I wonder if we could design a line of phase change material intercoolers for cars. They would have the benefit of air to water intercoolers without the need for the radiator. On that note you could develop a phase change gel to keep the inside of cars cooler for longer. Also it would have the opposite effect in the summer. No more scorching seats to come back to.

    Agreed. SIck of both parties not solving anything. I wish more people would think things through and be as pro-active and rational as you are!
    What you said about cars that are worth and capable of being fixed really struck a nerve. With all the videos I've seen of Teslas and Rivians getting into accidents racking up $35,000 repair bills and being totaled by the insurance company (when the insurance company is even able to put a $$$ cost to the repairs), it really made me think about how wasteful so many cars are these days. This is not to pick on just those two brand. With many modern cars , a single component can be so expensive (or unobtainable) as to render it impractical to fix. So, landfill for that Nissan Leaf. Oh and with the way congress seems to side with businesses against right-to-repair in the electronics segment, I have zero faith moving forward that we'll be able to go to an independent shop to repair the mostly electronic cars we're being saddled with. Oh and features-as-a-service? Ugh
    The added complexity of electronics controlling everything has also added unnecessary expense--a friend's Honda's battery died. I also think there was something wrong with the electrics on the driver's door. As a result they had to remove the fender in order to get into the car to open the hood. A $170 battery cost her $1,000 to replace. Elsewhere in the world, you can buy a simple, no-frills Toyota for $10k with no electronics--for whatever reason we can't get that truck here. It's incredibly frustrating.

      I'd like to see them do the same for a RWD sports coupe too, with other basic designs on the same platform too.... bare minimum with customization by the end user being the goal.

There are also variants with LPG - Liquefied Petroleum Gas which might be worth exploring for MPG sake

    Get with Gale Banks when it comes to tuning the engine. As for the design, you could make the cockpit simultaneously narrower and more comfortable by offsetting the passenger's seat rearward so that the front edge can tuck a few inches behind the driver's seat. This also allows the driver to be closer to the center (like a Murray T50!), AND gives you a space behind the driver's seat for more cargo or something fun like a BIG subwoofer if you're into that. Sure, it makes things a little longer, but length is good for stability and aerodynamics, anyway, especially when paired with the new, narrower frontal profile. Plus it's nowhere near as goofy as full-on tandem seating, so much more approachable/marketable to the layman.

      @DougsterWolverineGarage; @CaseyPutsch;
      Casey is directly connected, interconnected with the "Globalist/Elite" via his friend Cantrell, 1st VP of Space-X, with Elon Musk, established "Elite" puppet, interconnected at least since, as co-founder with Peter Theil within PayPal, then onto Space-X, Tesla medical implants, ChatGPT, et al, within the Globalist/Elite Agenda with total hegemonic human control, Authoritarian One World Governance.
      Note: Anyone that still thinks the US President is the false position of "Leader" of the US Government, USA, Authority, with any Power [more than the extremely limited, explicitly, clearly stated in US Constitution, Article II, Section 2 including Commander in Chief (explicitly only when, if called to service by US Congress via Declaration of War; Article I)] is just among the misled, misdirected, mal-informed, misinformed, disinformed, well inDOCtrinated ignorant fools, "Sheeple"-"Sheepeople", with the massive Propaganda via very politician, political party, institution, media, 'historian", etc.
      Similarly as @ericlovasz7094; posted his desire for Casey to be [USA] President, along with the posted reply from Casey with ":) maybe someday.", these explicitly and implicitly show their ignorance, perhaps for Casey willingness to be participant, complicit as his 'buddy', fellow engineer, designer, auto/car enthusiast, owner, CEO of Phantom Space Cantrell.
      Note: have posted these explicit revelations previously upon videos from Casey on this channel, within his video recorded conversation with Cantrell along with Casey mention about "running for Congress".
      The posted replies from Casey implicitly convey, state that my posts were not appreciated, personally objected, disturbing, thus clearly since he has already accepted the "Elite" direction, dictation, connection, interconnection at least via his 'buddy'/friend Cantrell, who is certainly also among the "Elite" puppets. Perhaps Cantrell has convinced Casey to accept them to allow, be able to be involved in the "Global Good" Agenda; perhaps also attempting to convince via stating that the "scientists" will prevail over the "Globalists/Elite". However, We need not go further than Cantrell himself, along with Elon Mush [not a 'scientist', 'genius' (though he attempts to self-portray, fool the masses), Peter Thiel, all of the companies, technology, developments with witch he has 'invested', arranged investments including IQT/CIA, board member, other venture capital corporations, "Elite", into fb-met,biG-alphBtI,palantirTech[his],cisco,intel,qulcm,brdcm,amd,smsng,githb,smic,et al
      Thus, Casey confirms, again his connections, interconnection, false intentions, purposes, direction, within the seemingly useful, but meaningless, political, 'Global" , "Elite" :-O
      ALL should be clearly, explicitly Aware, Well, properly in formate duchess, knowledgeable, especially those within the USA, the only existing Republic, with Representative Legislature, no single "Head", Authority, limited Federal Government, spilt specifically, precisely into three Branches, each with specific function, limited Power, along with the purposeful, intended "checks & balances", which all, every, each of the Founders expressly, explicitly, precisely opposed any single or "Elite" Authority, Power, as stated in the "Declaration of Independence" of the British American Colonies from the GB-King George, Monarchy, along with every attempt to reconcile, compromise, reach agreement. Thus, they certainly opposed any single or party power as within any, every, each Authoritarian Parliamentary Socialist/ISM Government/Governance ["Elite:" implemented to replace their Authoritarian Monarchies], including other Authoritarian with Parliamentary style, structure, as claimed or implemented as within Russia Federation, Ukraine, Belarus, et al, certainly any Communist/ISM, Marxist/ISM, Lenin/Stalin/Khrushchev/Gorbachev/Mao/Kim-Jun/Castro/ist/ISM, Islam/Muslim/ist/ISM, Capital/ist/ISM, Union/ist/ISM, Fascist/ISM (Mussolini), Collective/ist/ISM, Autocratic/ist/ISM, Totalitarian/ist/ISM, et al , which are ALL various types of Authoritarian as with any basic Monarchy (some still exist within Arabia and Africa)
      => Please use Your simple access to view, read, comprehend, know the US Constitution: constitution.congress.gov/constitution/
      Along with Declaration of Independence, The Federalist Papers.
      then each can move from being ignorant, easily misled, misdirected, mal-informed, misinformed, disinformed, inDOCtrinated, foolish, "Sheeple"-"Sheepopele" with common massive nonsense, Propaganda.
      Everyone with basic USC knowledge knows the actual Election of US President, VP as explicitly stated in Article II, S1 + 12A, along with limited Power explicit in S2, additional responsibilities in S3, Impeachment in S4 along with limited Legislature Power in A I, S 8,9.
      Also the actual individual Rights & Freedoms stated in 1-10A, 14A S1, are essential, vital, critical too.
      It may surprise each individual, then, hopefully, all will clearly know each individual's positions, ideas, concepts, especially also every politician, party, group, organization, media, claim if any claim, statement, portrayal, narrative, idea, concept, etc. is actually within the US Constitution or NOT [mostly to nearly always false]

If I had to guess, the hardest part with the Omega car is figuring out how to get it through the government testing so that mass production is possible.

    If environmentalists REALLY cared about the climate, they'd insist that companies produced products that were long-lasting and repairable. That's how you can tell who is funding all these movements. People who want to sell throw-away products, with short life-cycles. Why make a vacuum cleaner that can last a lifetime, when you can sell someone TEN vacuum cleaners over their lifetime. Why build a laptop that is repairable and upgradable, when you can sell someone a laptop every few years. Why make cars and trucks which can last decades, when you can just sell someone a car or truck ever few years. That's were the "carbon footprint" really gets big. How much energy and resources are used to produce crap that just ends up in a landfill somewhere. The environmentalist movement is well funded misdirection.

      Tsk, you don't need everything handed to you on a silver platter, do you?
      There's LOTS of prior art similar to what Casey's done here, where, if you think on your own a little, you'd have a pretty decent idea how.
      Here: hold out your platter, and I'll give you a few things to start with:
      - G3F kit car from Smyth Performance (VW drivetrain, relocating a FWD drive train to the rear)
      - Pontiac Fiero, Toyota MR2, Fiat X-19 -- cheap 2 seater mid-engined sports cars made with FWD drivetrains/suspensions in the mid-rear drive layout.
      - Tri-Magnum from the 70s/80s Popular Mechanics magazines (foam+composite shell construction)
      IOW, there's been prior art going back into the 1970s that would help you exercise your mind and make pretty decent educated guesses.

    Politics is the peaceful resolution of differences of opinion. Unfortunately the definition has been coopted to a divide and conquer mentality. We the people have more in common with each other than differences, but the politicians use the slight differences to divide us. We have been divided for far to long and that is how we are turned into surfs and the political elite our masters. The master our politicians serve is fiat money printed by our central bank.
    The climate change model where the earth is destroyed in years is based on a positive feedback mechanism, like microphone feedback in an auditorium. The climate is self regulating but the fear is used as a weapon to obtain ever more power. Home Depot was just fined $2,000,000 for selling gas stoves in New York, why, climate change and air pollution. Crazy! Think the elitist will give up their private jets?! Or presidential families using Air Force 1 and Air Force 2 to travel to the same destination within days of each other?! These are 747's which burn leaded jet fuel, let that sink in. Rules are made for surfs not masters.
    Being a good steward of the earth is our commission. Awesome car Casey!!!
