I believe these guys put extra hours and effort into preparing and organizing their UA-cam videos, to convey their techniques/expertise to those who can benefit in return for time spent. I always enjoyed this sort of presentation, regarding prospective participants with respect. I hope this "Tennis Doctor" channel succeeds and prospers in its journey in this UA-cam venture.
I will try finishing below shoulder level on saturday! Thanks for all great videos you've been putting out, my one handed backhand is slowly becoming a weapon!
All very excellent points resulting in a fast and deep ball, one that will be difficult for the opponent to get to. But remember Sergi Bruguera? His ball had a higher arc and so much spin that it literally launched high to the opponent following the bounce. How about doing a video on the mechanics of a "moon-like" ball that can provide additional time for recovery while bouncing high with lots of spin and making it equally difficult for the opponent to return. While not necessarily "modern," so to speak, it can be very effective. It can also provide a foundational platform for an effective and penetrating topspin lob. Thanks so much.
I appreciate you going more in depth with the follow through after the windshield wiper. I've been told the elbow needs to end pointing up and the left hand catching the racquet. Do you advise the same?
Nice video. Please do one for left handers!!! I am really confused about the “racquet flip”, tap the dog, is it 7 o’clock for left handers?? When doing the “tap the dog”, is the wrist cocked and does it remain so throughout the swing?? “Keeping the L”. Is the swing path circular???
I thought it's the face angle and path relative to the center of mass of the ball which creates spin but you've mentioned brushing up on the ball with a windshield wiper action a lot. You seem to know what you're talking about so could you explain your thinking on this aspect please? 🙏
Many things comes from loosness, relaxation and then we do not need to force anything. Yet there is a prerequisite of good spacing. Please do a training of light good movemnt being on the toes and proper setup for good spacing.
it becomes weird that you got obsessed with attacking "low to high" with your own explanation of it.. you insist that "low to high" is a swing path parallel to side of the body but it's just to tell the people go under the ball and brush to top with high finish... of course you need to swing cross 🤷
I am really sorry, but I can’t really finish this video, too much talking. Compared to a previous video I watched and the start of this video, you are contradicting yourself. If you look at your own swing in slow motion you can clearly see you are below the hitting point with your racket when you start your swing and you’re clearly coming up to above ball height after your swing. When teaching this to beginners or semi beginners, they are going to struggle getting the ball over te net all together. The main goal of going “low to high” in a swing is to clear the net, not teach topspin, as they are nowhere near understanding that concept. A C-shaped swing, like Djokovic for instance, is an easy way to teach and understand a swing, and a more natural move for most players. Next, when you talk about windshield wiper motion, that is actually proven incorrect terminology. For a windshield wiper the racket head would come straight up and over, merely brushing the ball. For the motion you are describing you need pronation of the forearm in a forward and slightly upward direction, which makes the follow through a more natural move. Just a few observations.
