- KZ Tandingan performs "Tadhana" as a tribute to her ultimate musical hero, Up Dharma Down (UDD).
During her Roadshow stint, the Soul Supreme shared her moving story of how UDD became one of her biggest music influences. She started singing as a child, but had to stop when she was in high school after suffering from a throat problem. She shared that she almost quit singing altogether because she can't hit high notes anymore. That was until her best friend made her listen to a song from an up-and-coming band that time -- which was UDD's hit song titled "Oo".
The band's amazing approach to music inspired her to return to what she loved doing the most -- and soon, she started performing again.
And her passion and hard work soon paid off. KZ's unique vocal stylings and prowess paved the way to her phenomenal stardom.

I watched this video comparing the song and the English subtitles. It honestly made me appreciate how poetic and beautiful Tagalog is. The translation just doesn’t have the same emotions. We should be proud of our language

True that every singer has his/her forte. Unfortunately for KZ, she has some other talent that is left unexplored because of the limiting confines of ABS-CBN. She can sing other musical genre that is not well-recognized and appreciated by the Pinoy public. Her jazzy, scat-singing combined with rap style is so original that no singer has ever performed in front of Pilipino audience but her.

Eto opinyon ko lang, bilib ako kay Morissette pagdating sa range at technique ng boses pero hanggang tenga ko lang ang connection nya sa kin, pero si KZ mula tenga, puso, kaluluwa hanggang dulo ng daliri ko sa paa ramdam ko yung emosyon nya sa pagkanta, maybe because she doesn't just focus on techniques but more on how she could really connect deeply with her audience. There are singers who sing to please the ears and there are singers who sing to touch the hearts of their listeners and KZ has this gift of 'feel' that any song that she sings nako-convey nya yung emosyon na hinihingi ng kanta. Sorry Morissette fans, that's my opinion.

I agree with Mark. SARAH G for being a total concert performer, YENG for making great compositions and one of OPM's finest, and KZ for having that style, swag and very distinctive soulful voice.
Nevertheless, on the other hand, ZIA also has that style and distinction of her voice a bit similar to KZ's, and MORISSETTE for having a great lung power and high sustained whistle register.

This reminds me of Lauryn Hills' unplugged performances WOW! She just poured her heart out like its nothing and not many may realize how hard that is. Imagine being naked in front of a crowd while performing. That took some serious guts she's fearless and adding the music, the guitar, The SOUL of this girl. Marry me! I mean I love you! Forgot to request that not just this performance but all of them artist that you feature to minimize the reverb just a tad bit just a little itsy bit. Specially KZ's because she has more than enough power in her voice to make up for that and reverb for me is the thing that you cranked up in karaoke to cover how bad a singer you are.
