That would probably depend on the type of card you use to make the box and how you pack it.

That would depend on what effect you were looking for and the crafting experience and products you have. There are various things you might be able to use e.g. cover the edge with gold heat embossing, attach gilded leafing with adhesive, or add some gold foil sheet to the edges - none of which I've tried myself.
