tires. is a multi-functional all-ages music venue focused on performance value for both talent and audience, including a bar to support the music and production space. The focus is to provide industry standard jobs for local Detroit sound engineers, lighting engineers, artist liaisons, choreographers, community music workers, graphic artists, projectionists, interns, security, and top-notch producers to support development for the local music and film community.
Detroit entertainment venues fall into two different categories: grassroots/"DIY" or premium, top-level arena facilities. These extremes reflect the landscape of the music/entertainment industry in the city, which leaves a wide gap in between for nurturing local, regional, and international talent. Local bars with a small stage in the corner and a sound guy who 'might' show up do not facilitate mid-grossing talent to perform at their potential and deserve to enjoy professional show with high production value.
Islandview, seemingly a much-forgotten area of the city by many, has within the past year alone seen a sudden burst of color and sound from visitors from China, to Australia, Brazil, Berlin- New Zealand, including across the USA, and most importantly engaging locals, those living in and around the area. This influx of activity is due to a handful of Detroit-rooted “behind-the-music scene” creative professionals, led by Lapp, that undertook something larger than themselves to transform what was once an ordinary tire shop, and convert it into what is now a multi-genre safe-haven for both local and top, well-known international artists.
Detroit's music subculture and internationally-celebrated nightlife is known across the world for breaking boundaries. It has created thousands of jobs in music and art production and propelled some incredible talent unearthed from the cities darkest times. To move the city's entertainment industry forward on a globalized stage, another average, run-of-the-mill establishment here won't cut it… tires. provides a truly new, real viewpoint, borrowed from the old look of Detroit, with the addition of safety and professionalism.

How much money do you think you need?
you just need a convenient space, somewhere in a decently populated area. You can get cheap gear on ebay or craigslist. Don't expect to make money, expect to lose it. Find people that can help split the cost between rent, gear, and everything else thats needed.
