@Casey: If you find the handling a bit heavy, flip your rear axle adjuster 180 degrees in the swingarm to raise the rear of the bike. That extra inch or so of rear height surprisingly makes a big difference in steering by putting a bit more weight on the front end. Enjoy the ride!
About your petcock: PRI is not "Primary" - it's "Prime". As in, "bypass the automatic vacuum shutoff and let fuel flow into the carb float bowls after maintenance or when time has passed and the fuel has evaporated out of the carbs." I always thought it meant "primary" too. You have three positions: On, Reserve, and Prime. On uses the standard fuel pickup. Reserve uses the reserve pickup, which is lower than the standard fuel pickup. Prime also uses the reserve pickup. So....when you're out riding, thinking that "hey I'm great, the fuel is set to PRImary", when you actually run out of gas and switch to reserve....there isn't any reserve, because you used it all up having your petcock set to PRIME. You then get to push your bike 2.5 miles uphill to the nearest gas station. Ask me how I know. :) :) Experience is the best teacher....
Additionally if you PARK the bike on pri there's always so e fuel pressure on the carbs Kawasaki s are known for this to cause the carbs to leak I to the cylinder and can cause a hydrolock when you try to start it
Nice going Casey, I had to smile seeing that F-14 Tomcat sticker. I grew up on Long Island not far from Grumman, where they built the Tomcats, and I used to see those stickers everywhere. "Anytime baby" was the quote on it I believe.
I had this beast back in 1989.(blue version)..with a short open Yoshimura race-pipe...man...the sound was the most brutal and most nice sound I ever heard until today on all motorcycles..(@ low rpm's...he sounded like a nice growling bear but when the higher you went in rpm's...the bike started to howl like a wulf...it was really unbelievable...my wife even could hear me miles away..).and I had the fastest...after this one...like...the Suzuki GSXR1100....the Suzuki GSX1000R K8 and the Suzuki B-King.
Bought my 85 as a leftover in 87, God I loved that bike. I would eventually wrap it around a telephone pole getting chased by a popo, it was bad! But those 85s definitely had the best color scheme! I can't tell you how much I miss that bike. It still handled better than my ZX-11 I also had.
I have a swiss army knife that was my dads before he passed. My brother thought I was insane because of all the stuff my dad had that was all I wanted. I use it every day.
Awesome build! Had an 83' GPZ 750 back in the early 90's that I loved! Bonus: While watching this vid a V-22 Osprey flew over the house. Cool stuff! Keep em' coming!
When I saw Top Gun in theaters in 86 I just knew motorcycles and physical therapy was in my future. In fairness I rode on the street for over thirty years before my first "bad" break, and even that was all better in a calendar year. Something, something danger zone. Subscribed.
I had read that the F-14 took 24 hours of maintenance for every hour of flight. Maintenance hogs for sure. Yes, we sold several (80) F-14's to Iran. When that was finally admitted to be a massive mistake, the US technicians in Iran left with rumors that they had sabotaged the fleet during their hasty exit. Turns out the Iranians just didn't have the technical skills to keep them running and the planes started failing immediately. Then parts became a problem, because we certainly weren't selling them any. Underground deals were made for parts from all over the world. Then the US started camping down on those too, including seizing F-14's from static displays and movie production houses saying they contained potentially useful parts that could end up in Iranian hands. Iran ran out of the missiles that the F-14's were designed to fire early on (Phoenix missiles I think?) and the majority of radars failed soon after that. Rumor is that there are still some flying, actually more now than there was at their lowest, by using alternative technology and components and the Iranians are now advanced enough to work on late 60's technology. Want to get a federal charge? Start inquiring on how to buy F-14 parts.
Iran purchased a number of F14s in the mid 70s, under the rule of the Shah, before the revolution and the ayatollah. The avionics were down-graded, but they still performed well. In fact the record holder for air to air kills in an F14 is Iranian, Jalil Zandi. All American examples of the aircraft are not only retired, but actually destroyed to prevent any parts from finding their way to Iran.
Tom should have had the Turbo in the movie. I have the 900 as well as the turbo but the modified turbo just eats it for breakfast and sounds move like a jet fighter on boost!
Pro tip with stickers and decals: use distilled water with a few drops of dish soap (surfactant) in a spray bottle. Spray the surface where you want the sticker good and wet. Place the sticker where you want it, carefully peeling the backing as you smooth it down. That very thin layer of water will allow you to gently slide the sticker to make very fine adjustments and ensure there are no air bubbles. Once positioned where you need it, put a finger at the top and use a rubber squeegee or even a credit card to squeegee the water out in a downward direction. You don't have to get all the water out, so don't go crazy, just make sure there are no large bubbles. The remaining water will evaporate out by capillary action and the sticker adhesive is in perfect contact with the surface. If there are any water bubbles left, hit it with a hair dryer. BTW, love the bike. I've been riding a 1996 GPz1100 since 2002 and am working on rolling the odometer over for the second time.
Cargo plane... rubber dog shit ... Hong Kong... Damnit! You used the line after I commented. Now, I feel like I'm on the plaque for the alternates, in the ladies' room.
I wish I could get a motorcycle. I think they’re one of the most fun things you can ride on earth. I’m 20 going on 21 and my mom tells me that I can never own one as long as she is alive because she will have a heart attack . My heart hurts every time I see one. I love this build and I hope I can do it one day.
Thanks for asking ! I had bought a new 84 Suzuki gs 750 . I have a hard time leaving anything stock !!!😄😄 tore it apart , changed the frame from black to silver , went from maroon to yellow and blue , added dymag wheels , spondon BIG brakes on the front , mikuni flat slide carbs and yoshimura cams . removed the stock bars and added k-n superbike bars .lots more little things . Motorcyclists magazine did a story about 5 hot rod bikes from the northeast and my bike was one. Oh yeah it had 93.000 miles on it !!! 😄😄🍺🍺🍺🍺
The elusive Chupacabra thanks ! My dealer had just got a Ducati franchise and I bought a 1991 900ss ! Loved that bike !! Kept it till 2005 , tradeded it in. With 196.000 miles on a ST2. Loved that bike too !!! 😄😄😄😄 got another Ducati 26 months ago, sold the ST2 With 205.000 on it !!! What do you have?
Me and a friend of mine were doing brakes on my truck I live in Ohio we needed a 18mm but couldn't find it he started to use a 19mm I got pist told him to stop I have an 18mm but he would have stripped the nut then I would have been in big trouble! I got a harborfreight tool cart now every thing is right thare ware I need it it saves more time and makes project a lot more fun !
As a matter of history related to President Carter's 55 mph speed limit, his home state, Georgia, already had a 55 mph limit on most state roads at night. The white speed limit signs on most two-lane roads used reflective paint that displayed 60 mph by day and 55 mph at night when, apparently, the headlights hit the sign from a different angle. As a teenager in a car-focused community like Dawsonville, GA, we questioned the national cost for changing all the speed limit signs and whether or not the old signs were recycled. To further express our displeasure, we created black stencils of the numeral "1" all scaled to the various sizes of speed limit signs. We upped the speed limits by 100 mph using our "1's" and other stencils that set the spacing. Now, before you point out that the signs had to be changed again after our prank, let me point out that all the numerals were cut from black tape and left no residue. At the same time, the speed changing signs of the pre-55 days could be permanently set at 60 mph day and night by egging the sign. The yolk disabled the reflective qualities of the paint.
Your watch, The GMT III ''Coke'', make scratches at the body paint!!! Love the white stripe. Supports the red / black color superb As the Rolex ''Coke'' do here ;-)

Haven't you ever built a Tamiya model or RC kit before? 100-145+ correct replica stickers per kit. Drives you insane eventually. 1. Hair dryer or heat gun. Makes stickers more flexible & adhesive. 2. Small pin in case of air bubbles + a plastic squee gee ed in case of wrinkles. Great job on the bike. Now you're going to have to make a slow-mo B-roll video with your wife in a blonde wig driving a 356 speedster replica to Berlin's song "Take My Breath Away". ☺ & buy a replica "Maverick" Top Gun jacket. Seriously, you should get Victorinox (the real SA knife) as a sponsor by now. What can they lose? Only prob with the Ninja 900's was they handled like an 84-85 top heavy, heavy, early 80s sportsbike. Nice project completed though 👍 37? So you were 0-7? or so during the 80s? Respect.
Brilliant job. My only negative is it would look much better with standard exhaust of four into two. Looks more balanced. You are making a movie bike by adding a bunch of logos, paint and pinstriping, but won't remove the one Kawasaki logo that is getting in the way and by it's removal would make it screen accurate....... Odd decision. Otherwise, if you spray soapy water on the surface before placing the sticker, you can slide them around a bit and also get the bubbles out easier. Plus, if you keep them taped in place, you can cut off half the backing then let then flop back down without having to put any effort in keeping the same positioning.
Damn this is a longggggg video lol. Anyway, this is a nicely done Top Gun replica. I have the same bike and I'm about to repaint it with the same color scheme and I got the same stickers from Amazon.
I was thinking just that! Thanks for sharing!

Glad to hear you went to my favorite local body shop for the paint. Been family friends with Bob & Sandy for a long time.
What a beautiful motorcycle. Well done Mr Mapother the third would be very impressed
Bike looks amazing good job Casey love your channel and love what your doing with genius garage keep doing what your doing

Wow, is really amazing how the TV 📺 captive people's minds, specifically Tom Cruise who gave the best values to those bikes!
Wow the bike has come out really nice loving the retroness of it seat came really good. Loving this build great work
You did a great job on that. Bike sounds really good too. Enjoy it and ride safe.
I have a swiss army knife that was my dads before he passed. My brother thought I was insane because of all the stuff my dad had that was all I wanted. I use it every day.
I like how you gently put it in first gear. One of my biggest pet peeves, as a mechanic, is morons that smack the shifter down hard.
Quick, but precise. Mechanically sympathetic...
if you have a triumph it's gonna chunk no matter what - LOL
Awesome build! Had an 83' GPZ 750 back in the early 90's that I loved! Bonus: While watching this vid a V-22 Osprey flew over the house. Cool stuff! Keep em' coming!
still have my 83 GPZ 1100
When I saw Top Gun in theaters in 86 I just knew motorcycles and physical therapy was in my future. In fairness I rode on the street for over thirty years before my first "bad" break, and even that was all better in a calendar year. Something, something danger zone. Subscribed.
The price of these ninjas just went up that's for sure.
Congrats on a job well done!
Now you just need warmer weather in "Sunny Sylvania" to truly enjoy your new bike.
I had read that the F-14 took 24 hours of maintenance for every hour of flight. Maintenance hogs for sure.

Want to get a federal charge? Start inquiring on how to buy F-14 parts.
Meanwhile- in the Casey Cave, Caseyman is completing the bike homage to Top Gun...Awesome.
Caseyman away!
Well Sir, that is about 10 orders of Badass. Nicely Done!!!
I like how the round sticker application method changed after the second sticker.
On average, a sticker adds 5 horsepower. There’s 18-ish stickers on your bike, which means you added +/-80 hrspwr. Holy crap!
Yeah! Right? Boom...
No helmet loses 50 cool points tho
Stickers? Hmmm.
One of the best looking bikes ever made IMO.
That bike sounds so bad ass!
Highway to the Danger Zone, Casey! 😎⚠️🏍
Favorite movie ever: inspired me to buy buy my first bike (which was delayed decades!) LOVE IT
Beautiful, well done Casey!

LOOKS AND SOUNDS GREAT!! Very nice job!!
You have to admit the beginning of Behind Enemy Lines trying to outrun two Sam's was pretty cool ie CGI.
44:41 love the sound of 4-2-2 pipe !
Very nice tribute bike indeed.
4:40 That’s what you tell a prom date 👌
Cargo plane... rubber dog shit ... Hong Kong...
Damnit! You used the line after I commented. Now, I feel like I'm on the plaque for the alternates, in the ladies' room.
Ahh man it’s done!! That’s so awesome Casey!
love the bike, same colour as mine was. Happy memories ....
DUDE! Your comment about the left lane drivers is for sure actual fact lol. It kills me too.
Time to ride that bike to the movie!
I wish I could get a motorcycle. I think they’re one of the most fun things you can ride on earth. Just get one, period. Start with a 250; maybe an Enduro so you can have as much fun on-road as off. You'll never regret it. ;)
You should NEVER take any risks. Your mom is correct.
Same. Except, it’s my wife who’s not a fan. Doesn’t help that I’ve a had a friend and a co-worker lose their lives in motorcycle accidents either...
The bike sounds/looks great .😎👍🏍💨
Casey! Great work!
Did you sort out the anti-dive mechanism on the front end yet? Notorious for seizing up.
Nope! :) I'll get to that during riding season.
Bike looks and sounds amazing - congratulations
Bad ass man. Great job. Love it.
The old bikes are the best looking, the ones from the mid/late 80's.
Has Tom made you an offer for this bike ? Or maybe he already owns the original 😮
Very cool bike Casey. Very sharp. Well done
Love it, I've got the same tires on my 86 1000rx
That is like the coolest bike ever!
BASITH PH I had the coolest bike ever !!! Sorry 😄😄😄😄😄😄 it was in motorcyclist magazine in 1991 😎😎

Man this is epic.. sounds amazing!
Nice video, nice Bike, nice GMT but I would not wear it when working on the bike, both can be scratched at the same time.cheers

I always put a tiny little blob of lacquer at the end of my stripes. Keeps them from peeling off and you can’t see it
Where are the 2 mile long wheelies and 100 mph stoppies. That's worth at least 50k subscribers. :-)
Very nice work and great looking bike!
Good ol road horse there fellas.
Nice work. So much attention to detail. Did you consider changing the exhaust back to original? Would complete the rebuild
Went from a gsxr400 to this bike in 1996 and it bit me hard I have loved fast bikes ever since .
Beautiful machine
Sounds so goooood . . .
オリジナルに近い素晴らしい忍者です!
Your watch, The GMT III ''Coke'', make scratches at the body paint!!!
Love the white stripe. Supports the red / black color superb
As the Rolex ''Coke'' do here ;-)
Sounds awsome!
Call The Ball!
Do you still have this? You need to bring it out to a goosechase meet in ATL sometime!

Nice project completed though 👍
37? So you were 0-7? or so during the 80s? Respect.
Nice work, you should have the stickers clear coated :)
Brilliant job. My only negative is it would look much better with standard exhaust of four into two. Looks more balanced. Some bikes suit a four into one, not the gpz900r nor its later incarnation the zzr1100. Vice versa the suzuki gsxr1000 with a four into two looks wrong, don't know why it just does. Enjoyed this project and thanks for your hard work making this video. Thanks, vinny. :-)
This also makes me wish I still had my old VF 1000 interceptor....
I’m sure the wife won’t mind me tracking it down....... lol
A VF1000 and GPZ900 are both garage goals.
I will give you my 50 year old marbles collection for that bike. I love that bike so much
Omg I need this
I know some one who has same one from the movie same color but needs a bit if work .
Wonder if the original is still in existence from the first top gun
I had one of this years ago.. 916cc if i remember correctly .. But changed for adv bike
Always loved this bike. Great build!
Congrats
She's looking slickkkkk
looks great sir nice guy i would love it and i look like tom as well ha xxxx brilliant video sir thanks
I'm convinced everyone, driving the speed limit in the passing lane, works for the Dept. of Transport.
First time i watch the channel... I was so into the motorcycle that i didn't realise that there was a F#CKING BATMOBILE in the back until half of the video!
Needs a personalized plate...
DNGRZON
Nice sound 🇮🇪
Hi, i love your videos ..
What tires do you have on the ninja?, Make and dimension?
/Mats
hello looks great. can you tell me the red paint code you used?
Very Nice!
What Main jets and low speed jets are you using?
Where did you get the pinstripes? What width and colour is the pin striping?
Hi Casey,
I have a 900r that I have obtained a complete set of spare panels, bodywork, fuel tank wheels etc. to make a TG replica such as yours.
Mines on an A8 so not really a replica, but more of a 'homage' ;)
I was wondering if there were any paint codes for the red and black paints used on the bike? And where did you get the silver/white stripe from please?
I'm based in the UK so will have to try and purchase from over there...
Cheers, SF.
Great job !!!
What is the width of the white finishing tape?
I served on nuclear submarines also. Just remember we do it deeper.
ET, EM or MM in Orlando?
very good!!!
SPETTACOLARE 😍
Damn this is a longggggg video lol. Anyway, this is a nicely done Top Gun replica. I have the same bike and I'm about to repaint it with the same color scheme and I got the same stickers from Amazon.
