“He just keeps getting deeper” well yeah, he is mining
I thought this would be a sex joke. You surely had us at first half
Lol, u had us at first half, ngl
Could say he’s going… way down under the ground 😅 (where my fellow songbirds at??)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol
"He just keeps getting deeper"... That's what she said....
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
Had to search for this. Didn't want to repeat it. You deserve all the credit. 6:17
Definitely check out Voiceplays "Oogie Boogie song. Geoff is amazing in it.
Jeff's a baaaaaaad man.*Steven A. Smith voice
That low E at the end made everyone pregnant.
Tennessee Ernie Ford was a popular Country entertainer from the 40's and 50's, and made the transition to TV entertainer. This was one of his more famous hits. He had a great bass voice, and you should check him out.
If I remember right Tennessee Ernie Ford was the second person to record this song i think it originally came out in the late 1800s
@@kennethabebdroth8513 The song was penned by Merle Travis and registered to BMI as his composition in 1946; he first recorded it 08 August 1946.
I second the motion! She should really hear Tennessee Ernie Ford's version.
Married into that Ford family..from where he was originally from all I can say is he did right in my experiences by his aunt's auncles cousins etc. And obviously I loved the man's abilities
Sad story re Tennessee Ernie. He and his wife got suckered into Hollywood parties and drinking alcohol, which ultimately killed them. So sad.
If you thought this was low, wait till Oogie Boogie. He actually has a 4 octave range!
or Headless Horseman or his most recent one Take Me Home, Country Roads (the John Denver song)
Since when did he cut his range down to four octaves? It’s at least five, and may be approaching six!
High and dry is even better
*5 octave range
@@DennisKovacich What I read was 4. Far as I know, the only male with a 6+ range is Dimash Kudaibergen.
Geoff is the bass for Voiceplay. He has released several solo videos too. I definitely think that you will enjoy both. They are all extremely talented. Oogie Boogie is a great Voiceplay video that features Geoff. You get to experience his full vocal range.
"full vocal range" oh no no no this mans lacks critical information 💀
Geoff is the bass for VoicePlay. He's the one from Oogie Boogie's Song!
Along with Oogie Boogie song, Voiceplay has a Moana Medley and Little Mermaid medley that are both great.
Scientists believe that Geoff's voice makes women ovulate
Tyrone loki. It probably does!
As a scientist I can confirm this
You don't hear bass singers for years, and now they're falling from the sky. All really good, too! Please do Voice Play’s “Oogie Boogie’s Song”, from the “Nightmare Before Christmas”. They all are great, but Jeff shines.
Not bad sounds good. But I personally like the original more.
I think they all shine really well in this. Of course Geoff is phenomenal, that goes without saying. But the rest of the members are such amazing talents.
The group as it was in Oogie Boogie song
Earl Elkins Jr. | Tenor 1
Eli Jacobson | Tenor 2
J.None | Baritone
Geoff Castellucci | Bass
Layne Stein | Drums
Earl has left and they use a guest tenor for now, and J-None just left
But you will really enjoy this group,
WOW as I life long country music fan, and having my mom play this song constantly, this is an amazing version.
Geoff actually has a 5 octave range. This was the first song I ever heard him sing because I love Tennessee Ernie Ford. I remember seeing him on I Love Lucy reruns. I'm not that old yet. Anyway, I didn't know who Geoff was or Voiceplay. I actually thought it was quadruplets at first and about choked. I can honestly say he and Voiceplay became my obsession. I have watched every video they have come out with and they only get better. Goeff's Take Me Home Country Roads is fantastic and I didn't even like John Denver's version. If you get the chance you should really react to Geoffs cover of the Headless Horseman and anything by Voiceplay. The Oogie Boogie Song has Geoff as lead singer and really shows off his range but all of the groups songs are great.
What Cynthia says. Even experienced people of music miss the 5th octave, and they go "He has a great 4 octave range." He has the 5th range.
I remember listening to Tennessee Ernie Ford was I was a kid in the 60's. I would love to hear your reaction to his version of 16 Tons. This was the song that made him famous.
Hello Half Pint! Hope everyone is enjoying their day so far! The only version I know was done by Tennessee Ernie Ford! This guy does a good job at covering the song, but I think you should still do the one done by Tennessee Ernie Ford! Wouldn't mind seeing something else by him, much love & positivity Half Pint & GITANO'S!!!💙💞💙
@@Mark_MOORE_VFL 😉😂👍
@@Mark_MOORE_VFL I am. I loved his music. Used to watch his TV show in the 60s. He was a great singer and a genuinely nice person by all accounts. This song was one of the tunes I learned as a teen learning guitar.
I’ve been married nearly forty years. But I’m HUMAN. I’m sure I’m not alone- Geoff is HOT, HOT, HOT. FOUR GEOFFS?? Oh, my.... of course. He’s been married himself for nearly fifteen years!! I’m a red-blooded female, and I’m not dead!! Geoff is the bass for acapella group, VOICEPLAY.
Sorry he is taken. Watch VoicePlay's Daddy Sang Bass to get some idea of all group members families.
geoff "the puddle maker" castellucci
Headless Horseman, Country Roads, Blackbird, you have a ton of GC content to look forward to!
Never clicked on a video so fast! I had to see your reaction ☺️☺️
Same!
😉😂
🤠🤠❤️👍👏👏 yep original definitely
😉👍
@@Mark_MOORE_VFL you bet now respect your elders Sonny 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Mark_MOORE_VFL 🤣🤣
The original gives you chills, it's Tennessee Ernie Ford and I remember hearing that when I was little at my grandma's house along with Randy Travis and Merle Haggard
It’s Merle travis
Huge fan of Geoff and Voiceplay! Please do more of them.
Check Geoff out doing "Blackbird". Another take a look at "16 Tons" with ZZ Top and Jeff Beck and while they are doing it on stage Tennesse Ernie Ford is in the background on a giant video screen.
you gotta do geoff castellucci - country roads it will make you happy.
Happy Sunday from the upside down part of the world 🤣🌹🌸🌼
I have listened to this more than I wish to admit. I hope you find it as fascinating as I have.
This one is Great, but you need to hear him do "Bear Necessities" & "Mele Kalikimaka /with the American Sirens" but what made the Internet Scream was "Oogie Boogie Song" with Voice Play. (and it's Tennessee ERN-EE Ford) 16 Tons was a huge hit for him back in the 40's, along with "The Shotgun Boogie". If you ever watched the old Black and White I Love Lucy reruns he had a recurring character called Cousin Ernie. He was also known for his singing of Gospel songs. Keep up the good work, Delightful as always.
Even the high notes in this song are him. I don't know if you prefer to do seasonal songs only in the season, but in addition to "Oogie Boogie's Song", Voiceplay also covered "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch", and "Grim, Grinning Ghosts". Geoff covered "The Headless Horseman", and recently "Take Me Home, Country Roads". Voiceplay also has a great collaboration with MANY other a capella artists: "Just Sing". If/when you do that one, be sure you have the captions turned on. They included information about who everyone is (as well as some rather snarky remarks).
Oh! You should also check out their cover of "Daddy Sang Bass".
At least as amazing as the depth of his bass voice is the fact that it's him doing the other three parts!
Just a FYI Geoff and Tim Foust from Home Free are good friends and have worked together with productions and videos. Love the reaction.
Geoff's version of The Headless Horseman is very cool. Definitely worth a listen.
Happy Mother's Day Sweetheart. You should listen to the original Tennessee Ernie Ford singing Sixteen Tons.
By the way, Home Free just released a video and cooperation with Billy Gilman titled One Voice that is speaking out for national suicide prevention month which May is. You cannot watch this without crying!😭😭😭😭😭😭👌
If you want to see what Geoff Castellucci can really do you should listen to his version of "Blackbird", which was originally sung by "The Beatles". He layers five different octaves (he harmonizes with himself). And the song is absolutely beautiful.
welcome to the voiceplay rabbit hole! you've heard somee of geoff's arrangements, he's good friends with tim foust and did the arrangement for home free's elvira! if you want to hear sustained lows from geoff check out voiceplay's recent release My mother told me, fantastic! my favorite group is still home free ( i have tickets for october😍) but voiceplay is a very close second. their theatricality is awesome, check out their little mermaid or moana medley, a lot of fun. Happy Mother's Day!
Queen in 5 minutes
Yey, a new Geoff reaction! I think you’d love Voiceplay- they’re brilliant but also a lot of fun
You would love his cover of the beatles song "Blackbird"... Again he is his own accapella group..... And you thought he went low here.... Just you wait, lol
LOL, too true! This was all chest voice - he didn't even *touch* what he can do with subharmonics!
Old old song Tennessee Ernie Ford made it a hit. You should listen to it.
Their newest. My Mother Told Me
Is super, a must watch.
Tennessee Ernie Ford was very well known also for his catchphrase..... Bless your little pea pickin hearts.
How appropriate to have your "Toys "R" Us" Geoffrey the Giraffe pillow listening to 16 Tons, performed by Geoff Castelucci. Them thar Geofferys form a pretty tight bond. Also, yes I would very much appreciate you reviewing 16 Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford, along with many others, such as Peace it the Valley, In the Garden, The Old Rugged Cross, along with many more. I admired him for many years, My Dad had a television repair shop, where he also sold Televisions and record players. As Stereo was brand new at that time, my Dad would play Stereo records by TEF, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, and the Country Music album by Ray Charles. This was back in the early 60'sso obviously I am as my daughter describes me "Older than dirt."
Nice job! I think that the singer did Tennessee Ernie Ford proud.
This was a huge hit by Tennessee Ernie Ford in the 50s, you should try it. Good job G,
i said thats what she said so many times and when that was brought up in the end i laughed so hard lmao
"Well DAMN!" Best reaction line ever.
It’s so fun to see a reaction video where the presenter has a Wow moment. “Who”
Damn good song, although I I like the original Tennessee ernest Ford ❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹
I came for Geoff, stayed and subscribed for you. Lovely video, thank you!
Happy Mothers Day. Great vid since the song is from my childhood and you are reacting to it. Hope you have a wonderful week, month and year.
Voiceplay and Home Free together in Zombies vs Hillbillies. They were on the same season of the singoff. Tim does a cameo Just Sing and Rob joins them in there Movie Soundtrack medley. Most Home Free fans love Voice Play as well
Hey beautiful! Today is Mother's Day over here in the U.S. and I wanted to wish you a happy Mother's Day, I hope you're having a lovely weekend! ✌❤
Geoff's covers of The Bare Neccessities, The Headless Horseman and Take Me Home, Country Roads are all amazing. He sings lead vocal with his group VoicePlay in Oogie Boogie Song.
blink blink... Me again, just showing love..WOW i love these guys/// and i love you ♥
First off happy Mother’s Day I hope you have a great day. I love your reactions keep up the good work
Sorry G! I can't believe no-one has sent you any Voiceplay to react to before. Geoff is an amazing singer and a good friend of Tim from Home Free. It was Tim who taught Geoff how to do the sub harmonic low notes. Their latest song is Mu Mother Told Me which was used in the series Vikings ua-cam.com/video/bs4ZJpWJh_Q/v-deo.html
Get ready to be inundated with Voiceplay and Geoff content lol
Tim didn’t teach him subharmonics. I believe he gave him some tips on the growl technique.
Ya, I just assumed the same, and I even thought she had reacted to Mr. Oogie Boogie before. Obviously, I watch too many reaction videos. Sorry Gitana, please forgive me, you are not the only reactor I watch, but you will always be the best reactor in my heart.
as I recall, he said he learned subharmonics from David Larson's youtube videos on them
The Tennessee Ernie Ford version is enough different that I'd love to see you react to it as well. For a different Tennessee Ernie Ford song, I'd suggest Mr. and Mississippi.
That's right. He goes deeper. Do voiceplay "oogie boogie song" and you will see. But then keep on right on to voiceplay "my mother told me". It's their newest. Feel free to stop by "the little mermaid medley" on the way, but make sure you go do "my mother told me".
Honestly, I was laughing because this song was made for those of us who have followed him for years... And he is taking advantage of that by showing off for us. For you being the first time hearing him, that last note is almost criminal. I really recommend going and watching a few where he is with Voiceplay, and isn't clubbing you as much.
This guys voice is amazing
Hi Gitana! I’ve been with you for a long time now and I love the way you break down the videos. Geoff is one of the best bass singers I’ve heard. Any of his solo projects or his Voiceplay songs is pure gold. It’s a rabbit hole you’ll be glad you explored.
SIXTEEN TONS was a Tennessee Ernie Ford Hit in the 50's I like it Thanks
Yes! Please hear the original!!💙💙💙💙💙
Welcome to Geoff Land. :)
Hey, glad to see you are finally getting to know a member of voiceplay I told you, you would love them... do oogie boogie...:P also if you want another of just him his headless horseman song is insane as well...
Just wanted to say I waited for you to react to this before I listened to Geoff's cover. I wish you a Happy Mother's Day ❤ and I am keeping your family in my prayers. God bless!
Hi, Gitana! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
'Well Damn.' That is an excellent Geoff Castalucci reaction. :) I like hos headless horseman single as well.
Check out Geoff doing Blackbird, Bear Necessities, and headless horseman.
Your giraffe pillow is AWESOME!
geoff castellucci "far over the misty mountains"
I love finding videos from people who are hearing Geoff for the first time, just to see the Surprised Pikachu face on them when he hits those low notes!
Had to come back to this one, you needed your hubby for it just saying you are fantastic but that would have been put it over the top. Like ring of fire. Hope you are all are ok 🍻🇨🇦
Yes please ❤🌹
Jeff and Angelina are my two favorites of all time.
Tennessee Ernie Ford is the first singer I ever heard sing the song and that was 65 years ago it was a hit for a long time not sure if he wrote it or not ??
Merle Travis wrote it, but Ford made it famous. I really love Geoff's interpretation of the song! Still a relevant message today.
WOW! I could've sworn that you'd already done Oogie Boogie, but apparently not. Others to check out by Voiceplay are "Warriors" and their original called "Just Sing" (make sure you have the captions on for this one though, trust me it'll help a LOT). Also Geoff has several solo tracks and I recommend "Blackbird" and "the Headless Horseman".
For something completely different you might enjoy Boz Scaggs song "Lowdown" this backup later became the band Toto. Very smooth.
In days that the song was written,in Smalltown America, most people in town worked for 1 big company, the company owned the town, the houses the workers lived in belonged to the company, the company would have a store like Walmart and it would sell everything to the workers,so they were just handing their pay right back to the company.
If you want to see just how insane Geoff's range is check out his cover of High and Dry
That was awesome. He actually done all the vocal parts as well
Hope all is well love your channel
Decided to watch this because I remember this song from my youth. Figured I wouldn't care for it, but what a surprise! Guess I'll have to check out Voiceplay. This guys voice is amazing.
this is an old song I heard when I was a kid, back then they didn't have internet
It would be great to do Tennessee ernie Ford and then Billy Gibbons version ( my favorite).
I've always loved Tennessee Ernie Ford since I was a kid. Love his voice. I had a little girl crush. I was 5 the first time I heard him sing. No one can sing it like Tennessee Ernie Ford. Period.
My favorite solo Geoff song is the Beatles "Blackbird" cover. Lots of highs and lows.
Glad you are back that was definitely a nice old song I remember hearing decades ago that has stuck and still speaks to the hell that exists in corporations.
It would be awesome if you would check out
ALPHA STREAM - Tim Storms - Lonesome Road
Tim Storms goes real deep in this one.
Voice Play(Geoff’s group) competed with Home Free in the 4th season of The Sing Off. And it seems most of the a cappella groups collaborate with each other at times.
love that reaction, especially at the end "well, dam" :)
I loved Tennessee Ernie Ford's version and this one is as good, if not better than, the former. However, I would like to hear the original again.
hi Giitana from Montana this song was originally done by Ernie T Ford this artist is there a great job this iconic song but I recommend you look up the original by Ernest T Ford 16 ton
Voice play was in the same competition as Home Free. They came in third! That shows you how tough the competition The Sing-Off was the season that
Home free won!
You are fun to watch. I like your accent and your expressions, and dirty words.
The getting deeper in dept was a reference to how mining companies would charge more for food and rent than the workers would make. So they would work all day and then pay it back for living expenses
Voiceplay have just released a cover of Viking song My Mother Told Me and that's awesome too! Anything Geoff does is fabulous. Love his covers of Blackbird and High and Dry too.
This song was originally by Tennessee Ernie Ford. Tennessee grew up in Bristol, TN in upper East Tennessee. This song is about the relationship between the miners and the mining company. 16 tons of coal was required per shift. If you got less than that they docked your pay. Miners did not get a paycheck. They were given "store credit" to pay their rent and utilities as well as get household items and food from the company store. They were always and forever essentially slaves to the mining company.
One of my all time favorite songs. I’ve never heard that version before but it was bad ass. Yes listen to Ernie Ford.
Love him
Gitana, for clarity the original singer was Tennessee Ernie Ford. 👗👠👠💓
This song originally came out in 1955. "Walk the Line" was from 1957, and Johnny Cash would've known of it. He might have taken the line from here, instead of the other way around.
So far, so good. Hope you had a good Mother's Day!
Awesome
