Beautiful. Mark, Liam and Sean. Liam was one of the best Uillean pipe players ever and former member of Planxty. Sean was one of the finest fiddlers and with The Chieftains. RIP Liam and Sean 🙏✨ giants of Irish music. 🇮🇪☘️
R.I.P. Liam Óg O'Flynn. I couldn't have been more proud to be your nephew. Today we lost a legendary traditional Irish musical figure. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Deepest sympathies to you and all Liam’s extended family and friends. Such a loss to Ireland and us all. A wonderful musician ❤️ I shed a few tears listening to the lovely tribute on RTE Radio 1 this evening. Ar dhéis Dé go raibh a h-anam
Sorry for your loss but you must be so proud of such a musical genius and by all accounts a pure gentleman. He made those pipes sound so sweet and played with true passion and emotion. Yet he seemed so calm and composed while playing. We wont see his likes again in our lifetime.
Liam Og played his pipes and his whistle with the most heartfelt finesse ever heard. His playing made the ear feel as it had gone to Heaven! He was truly a force of inspiration to his fellow Uilleann Pipers. Thank you Liam ! Your beautiful contribution to TRAD will live on to inspire generations! Rest In Peace !
For some reason you can tell a gentleman's smile just look as Mark and Liam make eye contact at the end of this amazing piece of music.... History in the making 😉
Brings me close to tears. Beautiful interplay between such great players. I live Mark's playing and he has embraced celtic music like few popular rock musicians would these days. Wow, no wonder they are smiling for joy.
When Musicians of this class play together the result is perfection, where they are from is trivial, they touch your very soul, they belong to the world.
Nota-se sua alegria 🤩 O'FLYNN, THE KING OF THE PIPERS!!!! ❤️🌷🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🎼🎶 RIP LIAM ✝️
Ar dheis dé go raibh do anam dílis, Liam. What a huge loss to Irish music, traditional music and good music, generally, sad, sad day indeed. A true, quiet spoken Irish gentleman, well loved, much respected, and hugely mourned.
Heard this song firt time i was in An Droichead Nua, Newbridge, Ireland. And every time i hear it i'm standing on the bridge over the Liffey and look into the water that is soon in the irish sea.
RIP Liam Og O'Flynn. The world's greatest piper and the world's greatest guitarist! There never was a more appropriate time to play Mark's beautiful tune "A Piper To The End" See it here on UA-cam" Today we lost two great human beings, LIam and Stephen Hawkins - They made this world a better place.
I agree completely that Liam Og was the best piper in the world, but to call Mark the best guitarist in the world is akin to calling Rolf Harris the best artist in the world. I take it that you have never heard Segovia , John Williams or Julian Bream, to name but a few.
Who is Stephan Hawkins, is he perhaps the father of Jim Hawkins of Treasure Island fame. The was a chancer called Stephan Hawkings who wrote a load of cobblers, that the media picked up on because he was in a wheelchair, maybe thats who you mean
A veritable medicine for the heart mind and ears. Such timeless tunes makes One feels gratitude towards the creator for the sense of hearing and of course for these marvelous musicians
Golden Heart" I bought that album while in Ireland during the War and all I can say is WOW! Mark Knopflers got the key to true Irishness of the Heart & Soul. Pipes as my Granda played altho Scottish I Love both, my roots are both, Celtic.
Thank you Mark and Liam for your music, I now own a set of uilleann pipes made from the hands of the famous Johnny Bourke and bought them from The famous Crehan family, you have inspired me to take them up and play and achieve another goal in my life. May God bless you both and always:::)))
There's an exquisite version of 'Raglan Road' on YT Knopfer and O'Flynn and a line in it 'true gods of sound and stone'. I've loved the sound of O'Flynn's pipes for 40 year. A true god of sound, so sad you passed.
Escuché esta canción en vivo muchas veces, y siempre me invade un sentimiento increíble, y hacia estos músicos concretamente y hacia lo maravillosa que es la música irlandesa tan cercana a Galicia, tan alegre y tan triste a la vez
Exquisite. O'Flynn is the master of what is probably the weirdest instrument humans have invented. Knopfler is a true gentleman and a fine musician. Just lovely.
Cheer's Mark FOR WONDERFUL MUSIC, JUST SEEN IT, WELCOME TO Gladstone Queensland Australia:::))) i GOT TO INFORMALLY MEET Liam's COUSIN'S THE CREHAN FAMILY AND NOW i HAVE BOUGHT A SET OF THE FAMOUS JOHNNY bOURKE UILLEANN PIPES MYSELF...

Ultimate beauty of traditional Irish Music
It has survived so many years now due to it’s great beauty
If you wanted to play a song to God to show him what we on earth are capable of, it would be this
What a profound statement! I fully concur Mick Shield
Ar dheis dé go raibh do anam dílis, Liam.
What a huge loss to Irish music, traditional music and good music, generally, sad, sad day indeed. A true, quiet spoken Irish gentleman, well loved, much respected, and hugely mourned.
Not been able to get to Ireland for years, but Liam always still takes me there. Always grateful.

One of, if not my favorite, Uillean pipers. You and your beautiful music will be missed always.

Putting Liam and Hawkins together? I believe that Hawkins was a crazy deluded atheist.
Who is Stephan Hawkins, is he perhaps the father of Jim Hawkins of Treasure Island fame. The was a chancer called Stephan Hawkings who wrote a load of cobblers, that the media picked up on because he was in a wheelchair, maybe thats who you mean
Glorious music Knopfler and Liam O Flynn, wonderful stuff.
Love the tune and this combination of players; they know their craft so well, and when they look at each other as they play you know they know.
