Couple of things for 101. People who call themselves anglers, pitch up (literally, tent and all), and drink lots of beer, smoke loads of weed and leave a mess when they go. You know who you are. Secondly people who get certain methods banned from matches because they cannot be bothered to practice a winning method until they get better at it, so penalise others who take the time to find out what works. Great vid again lads, special thanks to Rich, for the bobbly, and the great phot of you two nuggets, (pure gold). Keep on keeping on good job guys.
Most of the guys that only fish natural venues don't know HALF of the things you guys do 👍 I think the watercraft and rig knowledge match anglers use is expert level . Likewise fishing a tough river in winter to eek out a grayling is wonderful. I don't match fish, usually carp fish, river fish, predator fish, beach cast, full respect for all disciplines .

I remember him showing up at a local fishery in Stoke wearing shorts and t-shirts in a mercedes convertible giving it the big I am then had to run back to put the top down as it started raining... I believe he lives close to cudmore fisheries
The attitude towards young anglers coming through from the owners of the fishery and local match anglers. I’ve had it at every location I’ve been to, always been polite, never break fisheries rules, like to speak to anyone and ask your general questions and tips on methods and baits etc. I’m only 21 and there’s just a big stereotype particularly in my area but I like to go fishing for a break from work and when you receive an unwanted welcome it just makes me want to pack up
Fishing snobbery is my gripe. And it goes both ways! I love fishing my ancient cane and pin methods on quiet waters but I watch winning ways and others too. I often get people giving me a hard time because they assume I’m a snob because I like a certain way of fishing! I don’t like fishing competitions myself but I still make sure I catch Fisho and the others. You do you! If you like fishing in the way that you fish, get on with it. Leave everyone else alone to do the same.
These guys when they do the 'oh you dont want to do that/use that bait/fish there' harry enfield tribute acts, when i have fished that specific lake exclusively two or three times a week for the last six months. What you do in that situation is use the all the tips you learned from winning ways and clatter out 2 or 3 fish to their one and have them packing up swearing that theyre 'never coming back because its rubbish', ive done this a couple of times now, reacting like Andy would to every fish you catch just to rub it in as im sat on my 100 quid second hand seatbox and my 500 quid secondhand mtx2 pole i grafted 3 months overtime to afford.
Here here, fishing for most of us, especially me is about relaxing and blocking out the crap we have to deal with on the daily and having fun. Don't need some jumped up tackle tart telling me how to do things. I like the idea of ooshing out every fish though, think I might give it a go lol
@@solidcold9491 could not agree more chap. I’d put most carp anglers photos in Room 101. They spend weeks or months trying to catch a particular carp and when they pose for a photo they look like they’ve just been told that their dog has died! Smile! Something good’s just happened!!
Fishery pellets, I get it back in the day when people where using trout pellets, but now that very high quality course fish pellets are available, I just see them as money making thing for fishery’s and as most stock other pellets in there shops and you are not able to use them, it does my head in.
Years ago, as an occasional match angler but mostly pleasure fishing I did get bored with fishing commercials from time to time so I would go fish local gravel pits, canals and rivers then go to a commercial for a week or two. I preferred to catch a mixed bag of crucians, tench, bream and the odd carp, the type of fishing like on the Basingstoke canal at Claycart. There is a massive amount of skill to commercial fishing, no prejudice here.

Liking this rod cast malarkey guys, my gripe would have to be not being allowed to use a proper keepnet whilst pleasure fishing at a commercial venue. Dip it ,dry it and use it so I can have a lovely picture of the fish that I caught... all two of them!
fish in contests are only kept in keepnets for max 5 hours.pleasure anglers could be keeping their fish in nets all day.not so good for the fish in warmer weather
@@jamsams or maximum air temperature ? If it's a hot day then "Sorry , no keepnets today". If it's about fish welfare most pleasure anglers would be totally ok with it
Totally agree with Richard on the natural anglers. Bit like silver fish anglers on commercials, some think their superior because their targeting silvers not carp. Fishing is fishing
Great Podcast - just to clear up the presenters it was Nick Hancock, Paul Merton and then Frank Skinner - my suggestion for room 101 is the net limits and cancelling the whole net if you go too far over. It varies fishery to fishery and some guys find it hard to judge every fish weight. I only carry 4 nets maximum and on some fisheries it can be really stressful calculating each net - fish welfare is paramount I agree but sometimes common sense needs to prevail
Love this room 101 “rod cast”, defo needs to be its own monthly thing like the live matches and live q&a. My thing to put in room 101 is the same guys fishing the same open matches on the same lake every weekend. My local commercial has the same anglers fishing the same mid week and 2 day weekend matches every week. Are they doing it just to pick up a few quid each weekend (same top 3 every week usually) or are they that interested in that lake they don’t want to travel 10 miles to another several venues? Really gripes me!!!
Another top vid, rich asked about white dog poo? Back in the day, large portion of the dogs diet was bones from the butcher, that created white poo, these days you're pets are fed ready prepared complete foods in bags, and that's why there are no white dog poos anymore 👍
Great podcast lads my gripe is when people say it's not a proper sport I say to them are sport takes a full day not I will say 90 minutes I have to walk away so I don't say to much and but then you find out that have never tried fishing good gripe thight lines. And I have tried using a short landing net handle rubbish like you seid it shot into the pond lost it.
Nobody says you have to fish a commercial fishery in a commercial way. I fish commercials for silvers if i catch carp so be it, I'm still catching fish😁
I hate people behind my peg before a match! I'll get up and walk off leaving rigs half done if people come around, I don't want my early fish scared off by the local loud know-it-all 🤣
1)100 percent agree on natural venue comment we all fish should support all forms of fishing . 2) on fishomainia tickets what it matter if bigger name anglers did get special treatment they work for it and sky cameras and sponsors won't be there if wasn't top names there .
I know a lot of you probably won’t agree but it’s got to be in with a shout and that would be fishery pellets, amount of venues you fish and just have left over pellets everywhere
When i have been carp fishing people coming up to you going "that bait/ rig/spot wont work in here you need to do X or use X". I am all for a friendly chat and local knowledge but get annoyed when i get told what i'm doing isnt right even though i am still landing fish.
as i fish mostly when having just finished work for the day in the Royal Marines, i often don't get much time to change clothes... so you will catch me sitting there in my MTP's... i've had numpties laughing until i take off my jacket and they see the three stripes... but good point no less.... i use it to mainly hide from some bugger taking shots at me... not fish, i've never caught a carp armed with an AK47 :o)
A plus one for cross discipline cliques. As a pleasure angler, I enjoy fishing just for catching fish and being outdoors. No room for the ‘proper fishing’ crew. Telling someone they can’t fish a certain way because you don’t do it is just wrong. We should be encouraging as many people as possible into the sport.
They could have probably organised the FishO final on a lake where is not so pole dominated, so people that don’t fish the pole so much could have a better chance
Was at my first open match just before covid and half way through the match my phone started ringing. I normally put my phone on vibrate but I was on 24 hour call that day for work, Plus I had a sick kid at home. And the guy on the peg next to me went nuts, Waving over the guys running the match saying he was outraged and demanded that I was disqualified. I apologised to him and anyone else in ear shot and carried on with the match. But that guy just wouldn't let it go, Huffing and puffing, Moaning to himself like I had committed a crime or something. Then after the match as he walked passed me I went to talk to him and he just kicked my pole roller and called me a C**T. I was so shocked I just laughed, I couldn't believe someone could act like that at a fishing match.
Cheers for sticking up for our rovers Jay! 😁 Andy trying to remember the name of MARIN! was a laugh aswell 😂 Oh and i'll be keeping my eye on you two around our ducks!
The naturals vs commercials thing is a big one. I think its because natural anglers would like to catch the amount commercial anglers do but in reality its not possible. I think we all would love to catch the amount of commercial fish on a beautiful natural venue but that's fishing. Luckily I love both, I'm happy not catching on a beautiful venue but i'm also as happy catching all day on a commercial. We all love fishing but in different ways. Lets respect that!!!!
Anglers who think they should be in england team because they came 3 rd in a section last year ,and those who think there that good only them should catch fish I've seen it all 😮,rover angling started by anglers that know the lake very well and are fed up getting average pegs,,pole anglers that only fish the pole nomatter were they are,and your the only one on lake and someone fishes across from you on a small water 💦,
When your fishing away minding your ow business and someone comes along and starts telling you where your going wrong, your enjoying yourself and catching fish and you get - you're in the wrong peg mate - using the wrong bait mate - shite them floats mate.

I'll never pay nearly double 4 any brolly agen ..but av you seen it..its better than any brolly iv ever seen...tackle tart..ha...good luck 4 the future ...Carl....
I have big issues with anglers on film who catch a fish and say "this fish is pristine and looks like it's never seen a hook before". You have just caught it and it's still pristine proving that you can catch a fish without leaving any marks in it so that fish may have been caught every day of its life.
As a youngster I was told no end of times by adults that I couldn't fish a certain swim as they were casting there....from the other side of the bloody pond.
I shot my rigs with half the half the shot the floats say to cock it so to save some time and respect every angler as we are all at differing stages of angling
Matches where overalls and only 1 qualifier is over two lakes. It's bad enough drawing a bad peg that you have to make the most of but draw the wrong lake and its game over for any chance.
Jamie What I always find is. When your on a great peg loads Match anglers no this thay try and come talk to you to stop you setting up properly. So when you start it be in your mind did I plumb up there or there.😡
mine might be controversial but people in the heat of summer on big carp venues still using single 8 or 6 elastics all you end up doing is ruining many peoples swims because you cant control the fish and not gonna break off as they using 8lb line
Picking up on what jamie was referring to regarding fish O. A few years ago on the Evesham river festival ie the John smiths.has it was called then every angler that fished it had to qualify...But there were quite a few Anglers who were invited to fish without qualifying.....ie Dave Harrell..Will Raison..Dennis white.and many more big names in Angling Do you think this should go in the room. I would like to Hear the Answers on your next 101 room podcast....
Here's 1 for room 101 when sponsored anglers are doing features on venues and using tactics that are against the rules at that fishery seen it on many you tube videos
got to be when you have fished a venue for a long long time and some random knob comes up thinking he billie big bollox and tries telling you how to fish from tactics to baits to even line diameter
Room 101 Fisheries own pellets, even when one fishery uses skrettins and another uses skrettins you still can't use any other Fisheries skrettins pellets. I understand that the fishery wants to look after there fish but I would like all Fisheries to agree on one type of pellet that can be used on all Fisheries
@@paulsugarman9753 Hi Paul, I work in the bait industry and just wanted to point out that pellets are a very low margin product. I've also run a (not commercial) fishery, and to be honest, you have to consider the anglers with the lowest skill/experience when making rules, and then people who do have the sense to fish responsibly end up having to follow them. Sadly, a case of a few spoiling it for the many. I doubt anyone is making a huge amount of money from selling pellet and it certainly isn't 'scamming'. Most fisheries make little or no profit at all.
@@edfisher4527 Hi Ed. I take onboard your point around profit margin and agree that scam is probably too strong a term. However , an active commercial fishery hosting numerous matches per week that enforces this rule must be making money from it ( in my , possibly less informed opinion 😁 ). Maybe scheme would be a better word than scam ?! 😁 Sorry to say I fail to see how someone's skills come into the equation. I'm best described as an enthusiastic amateur but if I use pellets they're from one of the recognised brands. Why should I be forced to leave them in my kit bag and buy the fishery's own ? Perhaps I've missed the point here ? I do appreciate that pouring in "tons" of unwanted bait can cause problems in a lake and I don't know if you are alluding to an element of control when fishery pellets are sold ?
@@paulsugarman9753 I totally get your point - and I'm sure you are right; on some venues there will be some measurable income from bait sales. I just wanted to point out that fisheries are not often a high profit yielding way of using land, and if pellet sales help keep fisheries open then I'm ok with that. If you're experiencing some sort of cinema popcorn rip-off situation though, I'd be offended too. In terms of the element of control - yes, that is exactly what I meant. A high stocked lake is no different to a fish tank, as you pointed out; overfeeding can cause all sorts of problems with water quality and fish health. There are many types of pellets and each profile has different effects. Feeding 100kg a week of coarse pellet may be safe, whereas the same weight of trout pellets may not - so if you think about the amount of bait going in to these commercials, it could potentially be very important to know what it is. I'm absolutely sure you can be trusted with those pellets in your kit bag - but I promise you that if you extended that trust to 100 people, a lot of them would let you down. Some through lack of respect. Some through lack of skill or experience. On commercial waters in just the last year I've seen artificial baits being used as feed, I've seen particles being used raw, I've seen multi hook rigs, open drug use around children, etc etc. A fisheries rules have to take these types of people in to account, and the rest of us have to go along with them. Sometimes annoying, of course. I do appreciate your very reasoned comments and sensible discussion. I hope I've come across the same, and that perhaps some people reading this may better understand the reasoning behind fisheries decisions.
@@edfisher4527 thanks for taking the time to reply. Appreciate your explanation and I'm glad we've expanded on the original point. You're absolutely right about "the idiots" ( my term not yours ) - sadly you will always get them. As you pointed out earlier , the minority tend to spoil things for the majority. As for me being trustworthy, you wouldn't say that if you saw me in my club match yesterday !! I cast to the left , I cast to the right , overall my casting was shite !!! 🤣😂🤣 Finally , got to say , great surname and highly appropriate for here 😁. Many thanks , Paul

As a match angler, I couldn't agree more. Some of the anglers I fish against do this and it winds me up.

Catching a fish with a messed up mouth and finding dodgy rigs in and around your swim. Straight into 101
haha , i'd completely forgotten about white dog cack 😂
Great video guys 👍 keep them coming
Respect for all fish whatever species. I hate the way carp anglers disrespect bream.
Always a good sign that you're getting things right when you can compete with the venue regulars :)
Excellent point sir. Fish in a comfortable manner and enjoy yourself.
Keep em coming, excellent.
Can’t get enough of these 👌🏻
" respect my misery". It used to be called sky lining and was a tactic on the canals.
bivvies and rod pods on snake lakes and match venues
Question what landing net handle dose Jamie and and use ?
I hate people behind my peg before a match! I'll get up and walk off leaving rigs half done if people come around, I don't want my early fish scared off by the local loud know-it-all 🤣
What's the rule for people leaving early when they are doing rubbish, i think thats bang out of order
Mostly rolling around the back of the van or bottom of the carryall!
When i have been carp fishing people coming up to you going "that bait/ rig/spot wont work in here you need to do X or use X". I am all for a friendly chat and local knowledge but get annoyed when i get told what i'm doing isnt right even though i am still landing fish.
You don't want to do that, you want t to do this!!!
Frank Skinner Is Not A Brummie He's A Yam Yam .😁
Gotta be camouflage. Room 101 although I do get the giggles when I see a camo clad from top too toe n luggage 😉
But how can you see them?
@@winningwaysextra you have a point. Even more confusing when the arrive in a camo van. Oops I mean invisible van 😊😊😊😉
The paramilitary, even go as far as camo pillows, and camo boxers .
It’s midnight and you’re tucked up in the bivvy 20ft from the bank, 🤪
Embarrassing when you go to fish a peg and trip over a camo angler already fishing ,think I need better glasses 🤓
as i fish mostly when having just finished work for the day in the Royal Marines, i often don't get much time to change clothes... so you will catch me sitting there in my MTP's... i've had numpties laughing until i take off my jacket and they see the three stripes... but good point no less.... i use it to mainly hide from some bugger taking shots at me... not fish, i've never caught a carp armed with an AK47 :o)
20:40 are you at cudmore .... they are stokie ducks ...ey up duck
Fishery rules would be a good one. Things like mandatory pole to float lengths and even bait bans which have nothing to do with fish safety.
Come season start, I'd personally like to see the guys tackle some rivers from time to time, rather than always stillwater.
Is there going to be a fishing video of where they are on this video please, Old Hough Fishery, Big Max?
Keep your eyes peeled on the main channel in next few weeks :)
Was it Paul Merton ?
Wow… he sounds like a bell end 😂
@@WinningWays A complete and utter one ha
Maybe it was the tune your phone was playing.......
What a fkn asshole that guy was! He would been let known that as soon as he kicked my gear.
Cheers for sticking up for our rovers Jay! 😁 Andy trying to remember the name of MARIN! was a laugh aswell 😂
Oh and i'll be keeping my eye on you two around our ducks!
Nick Hancock was the first person to do room 101
Please do at least another one of these rodcasts where you discuss things to ban in match angling. Its fascinating to see what gripes you all have
It was Paul Merton but I still love you guys 🤣
Nick Hancock was the 1st presenter, Paul Merton 2nd and then Frank Skinner .
Frank Skinner was definitely a better shout than Jules Holland!
@@winningwaysextra 🤣🤣
daz n johns bringing the bbq for a day out fishing and hanging it up in a tree when finished.
What’s the point of a draw if you pick your own peg ? Is it that you get number 1 you get first choice ?
Anglers who think they should be in england team because they came 3 rd in a section last year ,and those who think there that good only them should catch fish I've seen it all 😮,rover angling started by anglers that know the lake very well and are fed up getting average pegs,,pole anglers that only fish the pole nomatter were they are,and your the only one on lake and someone fishes across from you on a small water 💦,
Jamie cannot help himself got a rod out fishing
When your fishing away minding your ow business and someone comes along and starts telling you where your going wrong, your enjoying yourself and catching fish and you get - you're in the wrong peg mate - using the wrong bait mate - shite them floats mate.
I understand m8 when you need to fish you need to fish...fishing 4 .money must be really hard ..when I'm fishing n got a nice carp on I like well need to concentrate does my head in people saying put ya rod tip to water ..telling me stuff I already know ..ha..its hard 4 me n I'm not fishing 4 money just fishing on a pond I like to be on my own...I do love it allot when my family come to pick me up when nearly every time iv got a fat carp on I love my family n friends watching me playing a fat carp on the method feeder..love a inline method with a semi bolt rig that fixes just at the feeder beed...I also like other anglers who I haven't seen there rods bend like my rod bends In houres .I see them looking thinking whats he doing ..catching there nappers..ha...im a true feeder .an ..iv got poles n float rods n never use them..iv got bad eyes n I bourt a free spirit 9 foot carp waggler ..still never used it..now I love feeder fishing all day ..when its sunny iv waited 3 n 4 hours 4 1 bite ...this year im going to have long huck lengths so either way I can check all the layers ov water ...like zig rigs...get me more fish Ardley no waiting..just bourt a free spirit hi s rod ..12 foot with hollow tips well a 3 ounce n a 3nhalf ounce..cost me 370.pounds. matched it with a 5500ci4 xtc reel shimano ..long range feeder fishing..but Ill fish it short aswell looking only really 4 double figer carp..love you guys got a new box a z frame elite 30 30...love map tackle n iv got a 6000 matrix 😎 reel..deep spool ..love map n matrix n now guru tackle halldall feeder bag with the 3 guru feeder boxes ..large carry all n I paid 127 pound 4 my guru brolly madness but it was the last of the second lot that sold for more money..suppose to be 89 quid..not on ebay or any shops online 4 cheaper.. I'll never pay nearly double 4 any brolly agen ..but av you seen it..its better than any brolly iv ever seen...tackle tart..ha...good luck 4 the future ...Carl....
What would you all say about length of keep net I youse 3m nets what would you say to that
I have big issues with anglers on film who catch a fish and say "this fish is pristine and looks like it's never seen a hook before". You have just caught it and it's still pristine proving that you can catch a fish without leaving any marks in it so that fish may have been caught every day of its life.
I recon if there doing a rover it should be on one lake depending on how many people come then 2 lakes and everyone should have a spare peg
My biggest gripe is people turning up to
Nice small
Lakes with fucking carp
Rods and taking up 5 swims and using a 4oz lead to catch f1s
Language Timothy. 😠
As a youngster I was told no end of times by adults that I couldn't fish a certain swim as they were casting there....from the other side of the bloody pond.
@@tonyorlando5973 sorry mate haha just the biggest one I can’t stand
Good session lads might not agree with everything but loved the debate
I shot my rigs with half the half the shot the floats say to cock it so to save some time and respect every angler as we are all at differing stages of angling
Where can you listen to the Rod Cast. I love watching but sometimes its not practicle.
Apple Podcasts and Spotify!
Just enjoy ur fishing which ever you do
You got that right!
Matches where overalls and only 1 qualifier is over two lakes. It's bad enough drawing a bad peg that you have to make the most of but draw the wrong lake and its game over for any chance.
My biggest gripe is that Andy may hasn't adopted me yet.
Jamie
What I always find is. When your on a great peg loads Match anglers no this thay try and come talk to you to stop you setting up properly. So when you start it be in your mind did I plumb up there or there.😡
Get some earphones 😏
I get that though, it’s disrespectful.
Oh dear my 2.2m landing net feels inferior....
ducks. coots. swans. geese. when you are trying to fish bread on top especially at distance. all banned
Wild foul issues!
mine might be controversial but people in the heat of summer on big carp venues still using single 8 or 6 elastics all you end up doing is ruining many peoples swims because you cant control the fish and not gonna break off as they using 8lb line
The carp industry telling people they must change hooks every 20 mins or they won't catch
Missed a trick not sticking a piece of sweetcorn in that poo
Picking up on what jamie was referring to regarding fish O. A few years ago on the Evesham river festival ie the John smiths.has it was called then every angler that fished it had to qualify...But there were quite a few Anglers who were invited to fish without qualifying.....ie Dave Harrell..Will Raison..Dennis white.and many more big names in Angling Do you think this should go in the room. I would like to Hear the Answers on your next 101 room podcast....
Nick Hancock was the original presenter
Completely agree with the “rover” matches, it’s not match fishing lads! 🎣
Get them banned!
Fishery pellets, biggest rip off in fishing
The proper fishing lot would only use vinyl if they were DJs
And feel the need to tell you why it is so much better than those CDJs which take all the skill out of it ;)
@@winningwaysextra #inmyday……
Here's 1 for room 101 when sponsored anglers are doing features on venues and using tactics that are against the rules at that fishery seen it on many you tube videos
got to be when you have fished a venue for a long long time and some random knob comes up thinking he billie big bollox and tries telling you how to fish from tactics to baits to even line diameter
Reason for no white dog muck is no more local Butchers giving bones away. They had to pay to dispose of bones by weight
people casting into your swim 😡😡😡
Rover matches. Glorified pleasure fishing imo 🤣
EXACTLY!
It's a money making scam. No other ( valid ) reason for it.
Sorry to say I fail to see how someone's skills come into the equation.
Finally , got to say , great surname and highly appropriate for here 😁. Many thanks , Paul
