This man seems to think evolution and Christianity are opposed. Only with the most fundamentalist shallow reading of the Bible (is that how Orthodox Christianity views the Bible?). God is the creator, but worked through evolution. God created the SOULS of humankind. The body evolved within God's garden earth to house those souls.

@@mrlinguini83 yes he was. Jesus was born in an old dirty barn probably filled with animal fecal matter. He also rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. The son of God humbled himself and being born into a body that had evolved from an ape fits perfectly with the humble sacrifice he made.
Christianity and Darwinian evolution, that is, macro evolution are opposed. Darwinian evolutionary theory, posits a self-reliant universe being the possible origin of life on earth. Primordial soup is not a biblical principle for the grounding of organic life. Also, your narrative ignore so many problems that arise from the idea that such a process could have been the source of human existence and consciousness. By the way, at no point in your spume about fundamentalism, did you ever actually express any proof or logic that would make anyone critical of macro revolutionary theory feel the slightest need to reevaluate his presuppositions. The fact is, Darwinian evolution, posits death, as having existed before the fall of man insofar man, and came about at a certain point in the revolutionary process of bacteria. If that’s the case, then Christs mission (the end of death) isn’t a reaction to the fall of Adam which brought death for man unto being.

Fr. Spyridon is truly gifted, IMO. His books provided the crucial framework to understand so much of what is happening today.
