    Hi Levi, can you please do a video on feel and timing? I am struggling to get my tabs to have the correct feel.

    • @end27
      @end27 3 роки тому

      hey man did u manage to find tutorial for this somewhere? im also strugling with timing. i put notes in but i cant understand how to set "speed / rythm / feel / timing" .. name it whatever u like to match the song. i even set BPM like it is in song but it still goes like 5 times slower. i think it has to do something with those "eight notes/quarter notes" settings, but if i touch that then i have notes play out quick and huge gap of silence until it reaches next tab, and some notes somehow get "eaten" like i see slider going over them but they dont make any sound

      @@end27 I got stumped on this at first as well, here’s what I found to be mistakes I was doing and how fixing them gave me the right feel:
      1- I didn’t select the correct time signature for the bar. I thought what I was playing and transcribing is in 4/4, when in reality it was 5/4. You can have multiple time signatures for a track
      2- I didn’t pay attention to note values, understanding how those work is important in writing down a complete bar. If the time signature is 4/4 a quarter note would last a quarter of the time in the bar, therefore you will have four quarter notes in that bar. An eighth note is half of that, so you would have eight of those... etc. You would need the note values in a single bar to match up to the time signature. In other words, no matter how you short or long the notes you’re playing are, you will need the equivalent of four quarter notes in a 4/4 bar, this includes rests. If a bar doesn’t have enough notes, Guitar Pro will tell you by showing you the incomplete bar in red, and when you press play the slider will skip notes in incomplete bars
      3- Paying attention to rest placements and rest values is important as well. You would be telling how long or short a rest is by also changing the rest value as if it was another note
      4- To change a bar’s time signature, you can click at the beginning of the staff on the left and an option menu will pop up that will let you select the right time signature and will make a bar longer or shorter accordingly.
      Hope this helps!! Most importantly, have fun!!

      @@end27 glad you found it useful! My hope is that people like me and you don’t get intimidated by the software as they’re starting out. It seemed very complex at first, but after some experimentation and looking up videos like this one I got over that first hurdle. Guitar Pro changed how I approach making my own music for the better, and I want everyone to have a tool like this be accessible to them as well so they can unleash their creativity. Happy tabbing my friend 😊

    I subscribed your channel after Rick Beato recommended it. Thank you for doing it in a very slow, good to listen to and clear way. After my sabbatical I will start to tab my own music. My main struggle in writing it down is rhythm.
    So if you have any suggestion, Tipp or small advice for me (and maybe others too) how you approach that topic would be great.

There was a way to do this on GP6, but I can't seem to figure it out on GP7.
    As an example, say I load a Stevie Ray Vaughn song that's been written in E and also sounds in E. How would I change guitar/bass tone to Eb but keep the score in E?

      There's no hard and fast way, because the guitar is like 6 little pianos. The E in the top space of the staff appears in 6 different places on the guitar. I know you were not a big fan of 7.0- do you like 7.5? What is the best source to buy/import tabs into gp7.5? mySongBook didn't sound all that great and I'm not sure how many tabs are in there. Can you import from Ultimate Guitar? I mostly just want to play along with tabs and be able to slow things down until I learn a new part. I don't compose much but suppose I could try writing something. Any tips on other programs I might want to look at would be much appreciated.

      7.5 is a big improvement, but it's still got lots it needs fixing.
      My Songbook is the place to go - they're done by pros and the artists are paid - ultimate guitar give away free tabs done by whoever - there's no quality control there.

    When altering the tuning of a guitar in GP6 e.g. 1/2 step down we had the option to leave the notation untouched. So a song notated in A Minor was still in A Minor after altering the tuning but sounded differently when being played back.
    As it seems in GP7 that option does not exist anymore. - At least I couldn't find it. So when I tried to notate a song in A Minor and lower the tuning by 1/2 step the key of song will also alter. In my eyes that's a drawback. Or do You have additional information on this?

BTW when you were using just keyboard entry for note, how do you access triplet/quintriplet bars for a set of 3 or 5 notes? Or did you just mouse click the triplet bar indicator; i didnt see you pre-select the three notes...thnx

I’m gonna check to make sure the problem isn’t my laptop. If it is, then I will have to purchase a really cheap laptop. Any recommendations? I’m on disability due to cancer so I can’t spend much, so 200 or 300.

    I often find that I end up with more notes in the bar than I want. For example I might enter a phrase as all 8th notes then go back and input the correct rhythm or realise I missed a note etc. This puts the bars out of place. I know you can fix this with Bar Arranger but there is no shortcut key for this. I wonder if you or anyone else has any useful tips for dealing with bar lines without the need to reach for the mouse.

    I love Guitar Pro for practicing with the progressive time loop. So I enter most of the pieces I practice into Guitar Pro. However, I've run into a "Head-Scratcher", Is it possible to hide rests in a multivoice score. As far as I know the rests must be entered to get the notes to line up in each voice but seeing them in the tablature isn't needed or wanted. Any help would be much appreciated!

    • @LeviClay
      @LeviClay  4 роки тому

      There is a button in the style sheet that you click to "hide useless rests".... I don't think a rest can be useless, so I take issue with the button - but in your case it may be useful!

    • @MarkP_Fan
      @MarkP_Fan 4 роки тому

      @@LeviClay Thanks for replying... pretty awesome actually.
      I have the "Hide useless rests on standard notation" checked. I agree it's an odd term, I guess Guitar Pro doesn't see the rest in question as useless?
      FWIW... The 4/4 measure in question has 2 voices. Voice 1: ½ note, dotted ¼ note and an ⅛ note. Voice 2: ⅛ rest (which GP does hide and notates it above the staff), 3 ⅛ notes, ¼ beat rest (this is the one I want to hide) then an ending ¼ note.

    • @MarkP_Fan
      @MarkP_Fan 4 роки тому

      FYI... Response from Arobas Music:
      Thanks for your reply, I've been in touch with our development team, actually the stylesheet option will hide a rest only if this one as the same value than a beat placed on a different voice. Here it is a dotted eight note, so the rest is still displayed. I am sorry I won't have a specific workaround to suggest, but we added it to our wishlist for future improvements.

    ive been trying to write tabs in and nothing seems to be working, doesn't sound the same as what im playing, and it just sticks to a standard time signature. Doesn't play it the way i play it and i don't know how to make it do so. iVe watched countless video's and nobody seems to cover it.... my issue is i want to write a progressive chord sequence with palm mutes etc, i tab it all in but it plays it all at 1 continuous beat, how do i accentuate it all the play like im playing it? I cant find the right tempo to fit the bars.... all seems like poor design tbh. The rhythm doesn't match what im trying to do and im getting incredibly annoyed with how little information there is about specific problems in gp6. Surely this is a common issue, that gp wont let you write in what ever the hell time signature you wanna write in? and if it does what am i doing wrong? becuase nothing lines up, just plays it all at a continuous beat and doesnt sound right at all. Seems like its more complicated than it needs to be or am i just inexperienced? Please help

    • @LeviClay

      DJEDI296 I’m guessing that you’re pressing right and it’s moving to the next note which will be a blank 8th note, and then you’re pressing right again because you don’t want a note there? You have to create a rest if there’s no note there, so press R.
