It’s interesting how in every one of these Timelapses the ottomans begin incredibly strong for the first several hundred years and then immediately get eaten up. It shows that even though they are in the optimal position to expand from in all directions, they’re also in the optimal position to be surrounded and expanded into (just like IRL).
It's probably because when they are no longer a lucky nation they really suffer. Geographically it makes sense why they struggle to expand with either European or Indian colitiations becoming a threat if they tried blobing all at once. I think their mission trees also drop off leaving them with few expansion paths. I'm also willing to bet there's some "hardcode" to really only take out the Mamluks and conquer Arabia. Just like they will always declare war on Byzantium first unless Byzantium does something special.
Russia never forms in my games. Granted I don't usually play past 1550 all that often but still, everyone acts like it's a given but I've never seen it.
The AI tends not to have any Provinces of Interest in Britain and Ireland if they don't start there. France will make a try every once and a while, particularly if the UK angers them, but other than that literally no one wants it. Same with Iceland, and to an extent Japan.
You're back!!! I hope everything was going well because you weren't active for a while. I really doubt moving would take that long. But nice to see you're not dead!
@Dupedfish they weren't posting community updates, they didn't say they were leaving, it was just a complete stop with no reason as to why, I was hopeful, but death was a option, not the most prominent thing. Also the dead thing was used as a joke.
This was a pretty interesting game even by 1821. No Russia and a blobby Commonwealth going strong, which prevented any major push by the Ottomans into Europe. Morocco managing to thrive pretty well, Scotland still around, Naples in control of Italy and Venice taking over Austria. Japan is doing well colonizing into the mainland.
blobby commonwealth happens often for me since Muscovy is becoming more and more underpowered, the merc nerf gave them a bit of breathing room but still they are fairly weak economically, not getting trade ideas is often a death sentence for the AI... Morocco can thrive if it can defeat Portugal early, which they didn't do here but Spain didn't feel like expanding...

Maybe, but Timmy was far weaker than he seemed. He held a lot of Tibet, Siberia, arabia, and Scandinavia. All mostly useless. He had Iraq, Iran, maybe Manchuria, maybe the caucus, that’s about all he had going for him. Commonwealth had the entire balkans, the best parts of the ottomans, the best parts of Russia, the best parts of Scandinavia, all of Eastern Europe, and United Germany.

Nice seeing Two-Sicilies pop up, and you got a lovely big USA! I faced similar issue with mine, A.I didn't really increase the size of its armies from about 1800 on, suppose we cant complain too much, its only designed to get to 1821! Had to go away and compare this to my own 10,000 year time-lapse (for anyone interested: ua-cam.com/video/5Yro-DdSTiE/v-deo.html), interesting that in both of ours Tonga had the most development with Samoa 2nd! Army casualties are similar, to be expected give the same timespan, except my Ottoman who had went crazy and killed 1.18 Billion by attrition alone 😆
Alright, say what you will about the Timurids, but they certainly fought for what they have. 922 *million* casualties? Yikes. Also funny to see that the huge United States still keeps forgetting to do something about Cuba... ;D
This game wasn't designed to go on this long. Cultures and religions 10000 years from now would be entirely unrecognizable. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a Cult of the Holy Light, dedicated to worshiping photons.
In the grim dark future of the 3,000s, there is a megacorporation that endures: Microsoft. It wishes to continue its forefather's legacy by colonizing the Nusantara islands.
Why is nobody talking about how Romanians recolonized almost all of anatolia and the balkans? strange that the Commonwealth (or maybe ottoman?) would do that.
