Ajith had don a comeo in the Tamil dubbed version of English vinglish starring sridevi. He had then promised that he would do a movie for her husband Boney Kapoor's production. Later pink produced by Boney Kapoor released and sridevi suggested that Ajith will be suitable for the remake and after she passed away Ajith wanted to fulfill her wish and his promise and did the movie.

This makes so much sense, this movie actually looks better. I am not a huge fan of south cinema or even Bollywood per se though Pink was really good but even in its trailer Amitabh Bachchan was shown as a menacing character staring from distance in movie those scenes didn't really make many contributions, now combine that with vigilante characteristics makes much more sense.

Just so you know. A lot of Bollywood movies are adaptations/remakes of South Indian movies.
For sure Pink can't be replaced..
But the purpose of remake is to deliver the message to as many as they can. Script Deviations of 5% to10% is always permissible to the targeted audience by not spoiling the original.
I don't think pink would have done better in B&C centres compared to A centre multiplexes. Here, they are targeted to the entire state, not jus got movie lovers who seek perfection. It's jus my views.

The dislikes are mostly from the fans of his rival star , basically any movie trailer with Ajith or Vijay as Stars will have a large number of dislikes from the rival fans to show the dominance and to break the "Dislike record". This happens every year. They can be very toxic, This is probably what ajith was trying to point out at the end of the trailer "To prove your loyalty why humiliate other?".
