So it went from «ok» and «twangy» to «marvelous» with just one more sip? Don’t know what to make of that 😄. I’m brewing this tomorrow with some proper lager yeast. It will take a while, but I always wanted to try it. Just have to make my mind up if I’m going to dryhop or not. Tasting it «pure» the first time would be fun, and then maybe add stuff the next time.
Hello Dan I've copied what you have done, and reduced water to the 20 litre mark, I also waited for the post yeast wart to cool and aerated a little. Hoping it turns out ok, my question is what hops did you add? And have I cocked up my brew by aggiting post cooling?
Thanks for the video and especially the review. I picked up a kit yesterday as £3 off so couldn't pass on it. What I think I'll do is make it up to 30 pints so that it has a bit of more body and ease up on the sugar proportionately so as not to make it silly strong and thin the beer. Will bottle it so I can chill in fridge.
I've got a coulple of el cheapo kits on atm,a pale ale and a lager, did them up with a 50/50 split muntons beer enhancer and dark brown sugar.Hoping they come out half way decent, haven't done one can kit in years but that's what i will be brewing for near future.Have you always done your one can kits with just brewing sugar and how do you find the results? Cheers.
Dan what was the end abv of it? Also could I use the Geordie Lager with a light malt extract and put the 2 cans in the 23L bucket to make a stronger beer?
We have our beer in bucket. First time doing kit but the pressure was keep building up so we had to keep letting air out as bucket was rocking. Now it just looks very flat and cloudy. It’s only been a week and still taking readings waiting to get to right level. Do you think we’ve ruined the beer by keep having to take the lid off? Thanks.
No I don't think so, not unless you have stirred it which will oxygenate it (bad) or allowed bacteria into the brew by leaving the lid off for too long. The wort will look cloudy and be flat at the moment. when it is put into bottles and primed with sugar it will carbonate and clear. I would strongly advise to get an airlock fitted though. thanks for watching and good luck.
Hi Im really interested in getting started with a home brew. Is there a kit for a one time purchase you recommend to get the gear to brew. The just buy the cans of geordie lager or something else to use with the kit?
Any brew shop will sell a starter kit which will be suitable. I think mine cost me £20. Kit wise I would not recommend a lager kit as the end product isn't always what you would expect. The best one I have tried is the Festival Golden Stag Summer Ale. have a look at the reviews on you tube, Watch the faces when they taste it for the first time. The best thing to do is to pick a style you like and find a kit that has some good reviews. A good kit will cost about £25 cheaper kits are not often worth the economy, unless you pimp them. Happy brewing

Steven John Barker . Cheers for viewing. I recommend adding some dma + dry hopping too
Great vid. Got a couple of buckets on the go to go in an 11g keg. What is the gadget you use for measuring the gravity?
