Hello to everyone including the UA-cam guy who made this video. My phone was going well today I had a little problem and that was with the phone not allowing me to access myself into Samsung. I have a Galaxy Note 2 and I watched many videos and even looked up information on how to and what I need to do in-order to get it by working again. This video helped me alot and it's NO JOKE. So definitely recommended to all users.
Both of your methods are "hard reset". "Soft reset" is when you just power off your phone, take out the batter for half a minute, reinsert it, and turn back on your phone. A soft reset doesn't erase your data or anything, but simply resetting/rebooting your phone (should there's anything hanging up).
what if you have done all that.. and the last process its rebooting itself.. which you said usually takes a couple minutes.. what if after an hour its still rebooting ?
What did you do to root your phone? Which process did you use is what I'm saying? I have a stock T-Mobile Note II running 4.3, and I'm having a hard time rooting mine because of that dam knox 5h!+!!! Thnx n advance.

What do you lose, exactly, when you do a hard reset? My phone seems to be lagging. And I'm also having a file read error (whenever I try to share files, it says "read access denied"). This read error happens with files on my device as well as my SD card. So I'm thinking a factory reset is the only way to go now. :/
The factory reset may fix the issue. Although it is not guaranteed, but its worth a shot before buying a new phone. Also, I have seen times when a phone was malfunctioning due to the SD card having issues. You may want to format the sd card as well.
CellularProz Thank you for the prompt reply. I actually FINALLY figured out what it was. One of my rooted applications (Alternate App Picker - allows you to one-click when multiple apps can be used to open a file/program/link) was causing this problem. I LOVED that app too (I didn't have to click the "always" or "just once" buttons anymore)! I disabled the app and my files can be shared. Whenever I enabled it, my files program would crash whenever I tried to share a file. Problem solved. For now. Thank you for this though. I did the soft factory reset and my phone is no longer lagging though. :)

Why did it show all the wireless networks right after you clicked Next after the hard reset? Shouldn't it have asked you if you want to search for networks? This makes me think maybe it doesn't wipe everything. Also, my phone was configured for business, i.e. unlock password/company lock policy, email (non-samsung) system, etc. Will it bring it back to pre-business condition? If not I'm going to just throw it away.

so i tried doing it the way you said in the video and after it showed the main screen i let go of the power and then it shows the att symbol and says its updating but as soon as the percent gets to 100 it goes back to the main samsung note 2 screen and then its completely black and never shows that screen to resest it like yours does. any ideas?

Hello, no doing a factory reset will not unroot your phone or mess it up.

There really is no difference in the outcome of each reset. The only difference is how to go about doing it.
