Can You Beat Gran Turismo 2 With Only Cheap Japanese Turboboxes (like the Cappuccino)?

According to all known laws of motorsport, there is no way that a Cappuccino should be able to beat race cars. The Cappuccino, of course, does it anyway, because Cappuccinos don't care what humans think is impossible.

The Cappuccino is truly a marvel of engineering. How this car is completely street legal is beyond me.
Maybe it's the caffeine.
You joke but a current gen 911 turbo s has a worst suspension design than a cappuccino
I own one, and I can heist say it’s one of the best handling cars I have ever driven. I have driven damn near all Japanese halo cars, and there’s something about this one that just works.
Throughout the tracks and Streets he alone is the marvelous one. (Sorry bro the urge for lobotomy kaisen is stronger than me)

Never trust dealer figures for power in GT2.
Apparently, both the RX-7 and Impreza have ~450 BHP, which makes this whole ordeal even more strange considering how the RX-7 didn’t go Super Saiyan mode at all times, unlike the Impreza.
@@mrxbas The RX-7 can be tough, too, but the Impreza is usually faster for whatever reason.
@@reillywalker195the Cusco Impreza Super GT300 in Gran Turismo 2 is absolutely OP for Super GT300. It easily defeated with STP TAISAN PORSCHE 911 GT3R or the same rally Pulsar GTi-R.
The funny thing is that the Gigachino still exists in GT7. When swapped with rx7 engine it can produce up to 1000hp with nos and can put up a fight at least 100pp above what it states!
It was my main farming machine when the Daytona farm race was in its prime :D

Yeah, the BHP specs in the shop aren't super accurate in Gran Turismo 2. I thought 404 was too low for the Cusco Impreza GT300, so I went and looked.
For the cars you used in the comparison, the actual values they have if you buy them (or win them in some cases) are as follows: the Silvia has 413, the RX-7 has 446, and the Impreza has 453. So yeah, that is the explanation for the pace of the GT300 Impreza: It seems like it has the most power of because it actually does, the store page just doesn't indicate that for some reason.
Yeah, as I recall both the Impreza V and the R32 are billed as 276 in the shop, but in the garage they were more like 285 and 293, respectively.
This actually makes it even more strange, considering how the RX-7 was so much easier to beat…
@@mrxbas That is strange, I've always experienced the RX-7 being second only to the Impreza whenever I do this event. It could be FPS, since physics are FPS dependent, and you're playing with 60 FPS, while I always play at 30 FPS. I can only guess that the 60 FPS patch is affecting the physics in a way that's messing with the RX-7's success somehow?
@@Julian_Pepper That actually wouldn't surprise me at all; perhaps the 4WD of the Subaru makes the AI more confident in the corners too?
@@mrxbas at one hand, AWD would be the answer but then there would be a problem. The Subaru at least IIRC about the GT300 rules about drivetrain reinforced by the stats at 24:41 would be a FR.

The Impreza WRC that has 455bhp also very suitable to race against top tier cars in GT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
There's something awesome about seeing someone experience a game from my childhood for the first time, especially when they end up enjoying it too. Great vid as always
"According to all known laws of motorsport, there is no way that a Cappuccino should be able to beat race cars. The Cappuccino, of course, does it anyway, because Cappuccinos don't care what humans think is impossible." - Nice Bee Movie reference there 😅

Oh no, HE IS THERE!
He is indeed there (The Cappuccino).
How the pulsar managed to win against le mans prototypes really amazes me
The lack of event restrictions is what made GT2 great compared to later games.
It often spawned hilarious races and fun events such as racing AE86's in the Muscle car race on Seattle (Most entertaining money grind race of them all due to hilarious opponents and their driving.)
If the restrictions were there, this run would have certainly not be as fun!
In my earliest runs/learning I can cheese the money grind with the Muscle Car Race using a Japanese car, I think I ran with the third-gen Supra and that thing could power through with the best of 'em with the right configuration lol
Amazing video - The buildup to the grand finale with the music just hit hard!
Thanks :D
With this video, now I understand a bit more why in all the GT2 guides i read, the Pulsar GTI-R was always recommended as a GREAT starter car.
And also, you and the Gigachino have made me a fan. Excellent video man!

OMG. I was introduced to this series this year by emulating GT2, and chose the Cappuccino. I coveted that car so deeply. Insane levels of catharsis seeing someone beat most of the game with it.
Seeing the gigachino race now is motivating me to get my drivers license in 2 years so I can buy a cappuccino irl
Can you sometimes do a GT6 challenge? It has the most cars in the series.

Another iconic Gigachino playthrough
37:00 I can think of two reasons you beat them at Super Speedway. From experience, I suspect they take Turn 1 too cautiously. The other thing I know for sure is that their transmissions are too wide for that course. My lap times with the R30 Silhouette are better than those for the Unisia Jecs or even the HKS Drag for that very reason.
It seems like it, because their downforce levels should be way higher than mine…
Congratulations for golden licenses, I'm yet stuck on on it, let's talk about another tiny big one: if you liked the Cappuccino, you will enjoy the Barchetta. 🎉🎉🎉

Always great to see the Gigachino in action, but man that Pulsar certainly pulled better than expected!

here is a video idea: Can You Beat Gran Turismo 2 With Only French Cars
Dude, I try the GT300 Cusco Subaru Impreza in GT2 and there's a fishy cheat code in this freaking car.
All thoe in the dealership they only said the Silvia has 415 BHP while the Cusco Impreza has 403 BHP however you will imidiatly confuse where the hell this freaking AI Cusco Impreza grab another extra 120 Horse power compaired to a Players Cusco Impreza's 450 Horse Power?!
and in fact that all AI cars in GT300 to GT500 due to game issue this use Normal tires all of them, well except on Subaru Impreza Cusco which is the only car use Slick Tires.
I recently came back to this game. I do remember the Pulsar being pretty cool.
quality video :) i watched it while eating
22:38 - funny story, the 306 kit car (with dirt tyres) wasn't supposed to be there; it results from the same mistake that sometimes dropped the Vector LM in the 30 lap Trial Mountain race, and the Xantia in the SSR5 all nighter 🚗🏎
Ah, that’s pretty unsurprising then - although it’s actually naturally aspirated from what I remember, so it’s actually not as out of place as it seems :)
Yeah. All kit cars from the F2 rally category were to be 2000cc, with NA engines, and FWD. I love this class of rally myself, so I'm glad a bunch of kit cars are in GT.@@mrxbas
16:15 Yeah, I learned that the hard way when I tried doing this after playing Need for Speed Underground 2, where "drafting" is a thing.
I am so glad we've reached the logical endpoint of the Cappucino's reign hahaha, awesome job :)
Thanks, I was very glad that a suitable successor had been found in the Pulsar for this run :D
The Pulsar is really good in TXR Drift 1 too! With only Tires Lvl 3 Upgrade (you get it after Hakone and you don´t need it in there) it demolishes anything from Hakone to Iruha B except Mid Engine Roar´s NSX (managed to beat it with only Engine Lvl 2 & Tire Racing Lvl 3 as Upgrades installed)

@@glurak888 I just love the car I used it alot in the Redrock Valley race to farm money by selling the prize TVR SPEED 12

There are plenty of surprising cars in GT2.
I remember being shocked at what an absolute monster the New Beetle GT is.
449HP, 4WD, and it weighs less than a ton.
Oh yeah, the New Beetle (and Audi TT) LM/GT are surprisingly quick! The fact that you often see them alongside other (more iconic) race cars is always fun to see.
I played this game a ton as a kid and i'm sure there's no slipstreaming in this game, also don't think there's rubber banding. You can prove it by driving the escudo, in a lot of races you can lap the AI. Fun video though, I'm surprised its taken this long for a good GT2 video streamer play through given its popularity

Is that a translation error ir is this thing really rear engine fwd?
I need to know your tunes for the parts fr, cause I started a run with the pulsar and have been constantly outgapped by other cars
Did you fit all max upgrades on it yet? Even if you have the right tunes without the max upgrades/parts the pulsar will remain poopy. The tunes are simple. Give it Max rake and shorten the fourth gear. You can also play around with the strut and suspension settings for a grippy track monster. If you wanna dominate every race in GT2 and be able to tune any car? Go watch TeaKanji's "Gran Turismo 2: The ultimate guide" video. The best guide for GT2 ever made. I enjoy the game so so much more now because of tea kanji's video's and tunes.

Why are you asking me if I can beat Gran Turismo 2 with only cheap Japanese turboboxes like the Cappuccino? Am I the one being challenged here? I think I am. Or maybe it is just you? Were you just wondering if you could beat this game, or are you just challenging me?

32:40 A long time ago, a Pulsar admired the Cappuccino when it became a legend that is now known as the Gigachino. The Pulsar witnessed the Gigachino's ascension to the Ultrachino. The Ultrachino chose the Hachiroku as its successor to continue the Gran Turismo World League but it was defeated by the dreaded Impreza. The Impreza saw its comrades got defeated by the Ultrachino so it took matters on its own wheels. Unfortunately, the Ultrachino did not race so the Impreza took the next best car, the Hachiroku which the Ultrachino chose to be its successor. The Pulsar felt a great despair saw its idol's successor got defeated. The Ultrachino began its seach for its worthy successor and took revenge from the dreaded Impreza. The Pulsar, being there at the beginning and admired the Gigachino which is now the Ultrachino, volunteered to be its successor and win the Gran Turismo World League. The Pulsar trained hard for the World League not only to win, but to beat the GT-One and the R390. Having proven that it can beat both of them, with all of the racing data it gathered, the upgrades it received and the racing modifications, the Pulsar made its decision to become the Gran Turismo World Champion. The numbers in Super GT's classes aren't power limits.
Current GT300s are, well, mostly GT3s. GT500 are the fastest GT racecars in the world, just being a couple seconds of the pace from old LMP1s.
It’s ironic how nowadays the power figures of GT300 are around 500 BHP. However, when JGTC was just getting started, these were the actual power limits: the Supras, Skylines and NSXes all had around 500 BHP while GT300s like the Silvia had around 300.
A better name would of been the the TerachinO
