Tank Car was the BIGGEST meme in GT5 online. In open lobbies, if anybody started to rage, they'd pull out the Tank Car (with 100 ballast added for the initiated) and drive backwards. The thing would stop nearly any car at any speed dead in it's tracks. Sometimes you would meet an unbreakable wall of 2 or 3 of them in a race.
To give a bit of context on the GT40 in GT2 Historic race 2 and why it's so fast: most special cars are hard-coded so their stock tyres have the same grip levels as medium racing tyres. In that race at Rome, all of the AI cars are equipped with stock tyres, including the GT40, which is why it has so much grip. In race 3 at Grindelwald, the GT40 is given sports tyres instead, overriding its stock tyre grip and making it much slower around corners. Some things to note about Lan Evo V's inclusion in GT2000: The car was previously featured in GT2 Demo which I played two decades ago. Based on that, plus the fact that the handling model is almost the same as GT2, it makes sense that Polyphony included Lan Evo V again for GT2000. Now, as for why the car itself is also popular, in addition to Lan Evo V being the only playable car there, I think it has more to do with the face. Look at Lan Evo V's overall front face, it's simultaneously angry and so done with life. Pair that up with the hype/rage-inducing M I R A G E, and we get a perfect mix of absurd E A R R A P E and ANGRY car. I think it wouldn't work with any other car, let alone Skyline GT-R R34, unless someone at Polyphony were able to find an even angrier car than Lan Evo V
Polyphony is so good at making everything realistic, to the point that they recreate the experience of waiting a red light for 2 minutes in that SLR McLaren race
10:00 as someone who doesnt play GT I apologize for making the wrong assumption, but it feels like the reason GT4 One Lap Magic races force you to sit through all your opponents starting is an engine issue, can GT even fast forward the game?

But he said he wont be going back to any of these type of games or game modes anymore. If he draws he draws he is done multitasking and frying his braincells. 3:35 finally a race that i can enter in 😃
That was great and probably the most necessary video in this channel. Also would be cool to see one about the most iconic cars in the series and their story within (and outside of) the games. The Castrol Supra, the Mazda 787 etc. Great work!
20:20 I always loved the Blackwater city theme in R&C 1
One of the best parts about browsing old GT dealers is seeing stuff like the Nissan Z "concept" or Mazda RX-8 "concept" in GT3. They were all shiny new and hyped up in 2001, now I see beat up or rusted out RX-8s on craigslist for 3 grand all the time. How quickly time flies.
I can't believe HOW MUCH you fit that specific criteria I've been looking for in a UA-camr. So many of your statements could have been mine. Even name dropping ColourShed lol.
Keep on keeping on Waffle!
Ah yes the Suzuki "Fuck it I wanna win" Escudo.
Ah yes, the Garage Glitch go-to car.
There is a lot here. If there were to be a Part 2, here's maybe a starter kit:
The Green Catfish Camaro: GT3 license at Seattle. We've all seen the Quasimo edit of Jimmy Broadbent getting that, I think
The black Group C cars in the GT4 used car dealership: 'nuff said
The Gillet Vertigo race car: easily one of the slowest and most infamous for failure in the latter parts of GT3 (and GT4, I think, but I don't remember exactly)
I don't think it ever reached memeability because it was short lived, but what about that license test in GT7 with the blue Toyota Tundra on the offroad section with comfort tires? i think it was A-8 or something. Jimmy made a video on trying to gold that while he still could. It wasn't around long enough to really stick, but I think that that's a very interesting part of GT lore that usually goes unmentioned
To a smaller extent, the NASCAR stuff in GT5: Jeff Gordon and his similar-to-Formula-1 "tEcHnOLoGy"
Not a car, but the Kart Space circuit in GT5/6. I don't remember which one of those two had this, but you could take anything you wanted onto that circuit.
Of that same ilk, literally any of the goofy stuff that people made in the GT6 track editor. Again, hasn't really seen light of day in quite a while, but some of the stuff that people have created is some of the most goofy GT tracks in history.
The Red Bull X2010/2014 cars. Memed for being like, THE fastest thing to ever appear in GT, so much to the point that it lives on even now in Assetto Corsa as a mod. Well, at least just the 2010 car.
Jay Leno Tank Car: goofy ahh open wheel thing with massive engine and no grip
SRT Tomahawk X: nerfed in GT Sport, but close, if not faster than the Red Bull X2010 around the Nordschleife.
That's all I can think of right now, if I have more idea I'll edit the comment lol.
I’d also include the Vector M12 LM Edition from the glitch in GT2 the Deep Forest 300km race, the WW2 Volkswagen cars in GT5, and the Renault Espace F1.
@@Zerobeat2004oh wait you know what else? What about the 1886 Daimler cars, or the Ford Model T from GT4? Slow, old, funny looking. Memes in and of itself.
@@barisaxmax Yeah, those too, alongside the Formula GT since GT5 has a race for them without giving an easy way to get one.
@@Zerobeat2004 The best way to get a FGT was that online used car dealership. Now after the server shutdown, players need to get lucky with the normal used car dealership.
Not sure how many people notice this, but i love your inclusion of music from the Ratchet and Clank soundtracks! David Bergeaud is my favorite composer
I know this is meant to be meme cars but c'mon...
*GT AUTO GLUG GLUG GLUG*
I wonder if the footage of the Black Impreza flying through the air at Trial Mountain was caused by a glitch in the original JP version of GT1, whereby accelerating against a wall while turning with a 4WD car caused the car to start sliding sideways at ridiculous speed...
No the thing that is kinda lost here is that most people are not familiar how other racing games of that time have been, like the suspension system that GT had in place was very impressive, this trailer pretty much made us buy the game because of this drifting and jumping that looked "very realistic" to us. Same goes for the incredible detail, i remember drooling in front of my CRT when i saw this game, and i was shocked when GT2 came around.
@@Hammster1911 GT1 was the first racing game where I could actually see a functioning suspension system. Driver technically counted, and was from a similar time frame, but it wasn't a 'racing' game per se.
@@Housesiderhaha I remember being obsessed with the suspension in Driver 2 as a kid. Also Re-Volt series has working suspension.
@@HousesiderGran Turismo 1 realistically is the only ever game to have Black colour in Impreza Rally Car 1996.
Wait a minute, is the font they used for the 6 in GT6's logo the same one as on Escudo's rear wing? Pretty cool
As much as the GT series strives for ultimate realism, I'm glad it indulges in moments where it doesn't take itself too seriously.
@26:33 ALSO to add to this, Hot wheels put this car out in one of their Gran Turismo sets in 2018 . There also was a 2008 Yellow Evo in that set.
I enjoy the swapped Abarth a lot, make sure to put maximum ballast at the front though if you want to at least sort of keep it stable around the corners
I really appreciate how laid back and well produced this video is. I was expecting talking about meme stuff, would make a painfully unfunny meme sound effect filled video. Very pleasantly surprised :) (the mercedes SLR bit was maybe too much though lol)
Thank you! That's kind of what I aim for with my videos, but the part with the SLR was supposed to be painful for everyone involved (if you watch it in full), so mission (heh) accomplished, I guess...
@@Roflwaffle16 I did watch it in full and the pain was real lol. I actually played through gt4 only a week ago and gosh those 1 lap magic missions were painful. Again great video and will check out more 🙂
thats my bloody wife x
what makes the vitz meme even more funny in german is the fact that vitz sounds like "witz" which is the german word for joke. So you win the pink joke.
And the subaru had a red version as well
Great video! Really well presented.
Thanks man! Your videos have always been a great inspiration for me. I started watching them waaaay back in the day when you did those secret cars and tracks videos :)
@@Roflwaffle16 Wow, they're super old now! Thanks for watching for all that time. Just subbed to you. :)
Fun fact: Skyline Pace Car is featured in Gran Turismo for PSP and it's a beast.
ok but they need to bring pod racing back to gt7 that'd be hilarious
Fantastic video, but I think some were left out:
-Like the floating glitch license cars from GT2
-The Suzuki Cappuccino (or BRAPPUCCINO) for being an absolute favorite in K-Car events, then it became a monster thanks to the 1.34 engine swap update in GT7
-The Gillet Vertigo and the Lister Storm V12 Race cars for being usually last place in their super car events
- and probably, the Dodge Viper GTS for the license test, which takes place in Laguna Seca's infamous corkscrew
As a kid my fave track was laguna seca and my fave car was the viper. I didn't spend much time on track.

The yellow evo is available in GT4 as a used car that you can get very early and its a bit OP to start with.
Maybe that explains it.
I think you're confusing it with the silver evo, that's the one that appears in the first lineup of used cars in GT4
@@realFlamefammyou can paint it yellow tho

Polyphony is so good at making everything realistic, to the point that they recreate the experience of waiting a red light for 2 minutes in that SLR McLaren race
23:21 That’s the 32-bit integer limit. I’ve seen it achieved in Ace Combat before.

For me, the biggest meme is a 600+ BHP car in a 295 endurance race...
"What I wonder now is where do we go from here. 2022 has come and gone, and obviously the Nike One isn't in production..."
Hear me out: Nike Two 2040
not having THE coffee break car be the cappuconi is sacriledge
Nike One 2022 exists bro, it's just in the universe where Harambe lived and is serving his second term as POTUS.
The Toyota Pod is the cutest thing ever omg
20:14 Ratchet and Clank music?? Let’s goooooooo!!!
Can't wait -2 years to drive the Nike one!
I'd argue the Nike became a meme in the same way the Mercedes Patent Wagen did, with gameplay modded in such a way that they become insanely fast
10:00 as someone who doesnt play GT I apologize for making the wrong assumption, but it feels like the reason GT4 One Lap Magic races force you to sit through all your opponents starting is an engine issue, can GT even fast forward the game?
The Spongebob YTP reaction bit with the Pod was hilarious lol, great video
I love how much we learn about you from that time where you waited for the “1 Lap Magic” lol that was hilarious 😊
My friend told me that the only way he coped with loading screens and similar built in nonsense where you sit and wait is either drawing in his sketchbook or playing Tetris on a handheld. But he said he wont be going back to any of these type of games or game modes anymore. If he draws he draws he is done multitasking and frying his braincells.
I remember working out while waiting but yeah it's kinda messed up.
If you even played GTA Online or Sims, you know what I mean, they are loading screen simulators...
Imagine winning a Vitz after playing a 5h vitz championship lmao
YES, the strawberry wheels complete the look of The Pink Vitz indeed.
So glad you’re not losing steam after the GT Critique series. Keep it up.
Still gutted you didn’t mention the Ferrari 420 ‘69. Striking looks, mental performance, superb handling… love that car. Praying for a part 2, all jokes aside.😊

OMG!!! The double Skyline GTR R34 Pace Car pic it's mine!! I took that pic man!! I'm glad in seeing this!! One of many pics with the pace car that I took appearing here!! Thanks a lot!
12:29 it’s also that “pink vitz” is close to “pink bits”, a schoolyard reference to genitals
Honestly this very helpful and informational. I always enjoyed GT games but haven't ever engaged with the online community, and now I am much more equipped to dive into it.
heey thanks for all the extra info about the cars and events. really in depth. I love it!
The Chrysler Phaeton was a concept car that was meant to slot above the PT Cruiser. It obviously never saw the light of day, but that explains its old timey styling, but good performance. American car manufacturers were really going on a big nostalgia trip in the late '90s.
What tops off Ryno’s reaction to the pink Vitz is the fact that he’s normally not one to complain about what he receives as a reward or to have to drive but this was so bad he could not help but verbally wretch
"The first car we are going to talk about is the Daihatsu Midget"
Stop, you had me at Midget lol
0:35 Weeeeee
That SLR McLaren bit is just hilarious. Great video overall!
The fact from Gran Turismo 3 for the beginer events for the FF challenge is to win the worst car is the pink vitz
They must've hired a young Nikita Mazepin to drive the black Impreza.
I love the gt2 bleep that somehow is funny.

2 take aways I got from this.
1) The Escudo is the definition of "What a fuckin' Legend" in car form. I don't care if there are other "Boss cars" in the series now, to me, that title belongs to the Escudo.
2) Someone should edit in some classic comedy screaming to the footage of the Black Impreza flying through the air.
One of my favorite youtubers, thank you
I feel like the Vector M12 LM Edition deserved a shout, even if it is a bit more underground than most of the other choices.
What about that minivan that has an F1 engine in it in GT2? Didn't know that car existed until I saw somebody's walkthrough on the game. I'm surprised that car hasn't been talked about or made a meme out of cuz it certainly looks weird.
How about its victim, the Citroen Xantia?
We should gaslight future generations that the Nike one actually existed
