May Un Mar Language Part 1 of 4

May Un Mar Language - The Dialect of the Potteries is the first feature length documentary created by Inspired Film and Video.
Filmed in 2009 it explores the unique dialect that comes from Stoke-on-Trent and grew up in the pot banks, coal mines and other heavy industry of the city.
Interviewing those who grew up with 'Potteries Dialect' and those who keep it alive to this day it is a window into this unique world of language.

This is lovely. My grandma , mum and uncles all spoke like this. Brings back some lovely memories. Such a special dialect. Thankyou for sharing

Born and bred in Stoke but been away a while. I remember as a kid being taught: Cost kek a bow gen a wo 'ed it back un bost it? (Can you kick a ball against a wall, head it back and burst it?)

I'm Potteries born and bred. The lady quite clearly says at 3:17 : 'this Barolo is questionable, may I see the sommelier?'

Can anyone translate the people talking around 3.20 ? I only understand ‘ey up duck ow art?’ and the guy who says ‘teowk proper’

"A conna, a shonna, a wunna... Wut thay?" (I can't, I shan't, I won't... Will you?) is the old fella after 'Ey Up duck, ow at?'

The lady is harder to make out, but I think she says "Why, what's up with the road [way] we speak?" at first... she definitely says "Everybody knows what I'm talkin' about, don't they?" after that
