Many browsers that you mentioned have distinct features that should be a competition to chrome. However, they don't get the platform the trio: chrome, firefox, edge gets. So, they are less used.
To my opinion in order for a browser to succeed it should have its own adblocking feature pre-installed.
I think I will try Vivaldi now, that you mentioned of its distinct and useful features.

    • @BrettInTech
      @BrettInTech  7 років тому +3

+Dhaval Shukla The only thing keeping Vivaldi from truly competing with the big browsers is the lack of a mobile app and syncing.

    • @DhavalShukla
      @DhavalShukla 7 років тому

TechGumbo Have been using Vivaldi for a few hours now. And to my surprise it is pretty cool. I can customize where to stack my tabs, what theme I'd want it to display on new tab and the comfort of taking notes or capturing the page. I'm intrigued and it is truly helpful.
In the matter of speed, what I felt is that it has the same speed as chrome. However, the many features it comprises it, is making me feel comfortable. The adjustable screen size right downside proves to be helpful in some websites. The start page is the most impressive. There are sites that I can just put on the speed dial section and with no matter of time I can go to that. Chrome chooses this by itself. I'm feeling a good liking towards Vivaldi.

LUNASCAPE. That is the name of the browser I was talking about earlier. I strongly recommend everyone to try it. It is world's first browser to incorporate three different rendering engines, and man, they run really smooth. It takes a long time to start, though. It loads up lunascape.tv website after it is loaded by default. But once it loaded, it really runs smooth. The animations are very graceful. Try it out, Techgumbo, and please do the next video about browsers featuring this one. Looking forward to it !!!!

That feature you said was exclusive to Ghost Browser, multiple sessions in the same window, is currently available in Firefox as part of their test pilot program, where users get to try new features. It is called Containers and although it is like an official Mozilla extension right now it seems it will be a built in feature in FF 57.

In your recent video, Mozilla Firefox got the top spot but your comments took me to this video. Right now I'm simply considering something other than the Big-3 (Firefox, Chrome, MSIE) so I'm looking closely at and will likely try out Opera and Vivaldi. Mozilla has been sooo dominant the past few years as the best alternative to MSIE that IMO it's become mainstream and subject to all sorts of issues related to all the plug-ins, extensions and bonus features.

Seamonkey is more of what I prefer in a browsing environment. With DDgo and others, as an artist, I feel confident my net usage is not an ad waiting to happen, the gov't. won't flag my outside searches which leaves me off their totally asinine "tsa" or worse radar (just remember: no system is completely safe and/or secure) and thus, potentially blocked from viewing the entire world(not just what they want), gathering my art supplies, interfacing with other artists and any other oddities I may happen to discover useful or find intriguing.
Maxthon, though useful, is still based in China. Flashpeak Slimjet is another I find useful with Firefox as the fallback.
Personal sentiment and opinion: if a company has to know what brand of tp might appeal to me at this instant, then that company is too far up my background! If they're that close, they know they should send it to me and then leave me alone until I require more by notification. Entirely too intrusive. And with outfits like Google kowtowing to certain governments and lobbying our own with funds amounting to more than many countries worth, I need to find fair and decent methods which agree with an honest and wholesome lifestyle approach. Keep the spies out my world. Keep the money away from government agencies who view dissension as a disease to be crushed...yes, even the u.s. would do it openly if they could get away with it.
My life, my choices and my family are not to be viewed without asking me first. Up front and open. Not a dos if I do not agree completely with some verbose novel of fine print.
So, ideally, I guess I'm wanting an operating system and search engine which is inherently ad-free, of course, within reason...I believe in a fair profit for fair product, meaning non-targeted, random ads which standard business operations and dealings necessitate thus are necessary; Spy-free...completely,totally and without any hesitancy or stipulations; and some form of civility and humanity within the structure...absolutely no pandering or any greed-motivated actions selling out.
    Utopian ideals.
Apologies if it seems I soap-boxed and ranted. Just opining on what is out there and why the choices are easier.

Thanks for the tip Soulaesthete. I agree, the chinese cannot be trusted. Lonovo computers are prohibited in the government arena because they have software that can steal your data. The chinese have stolen huge amounts of our technical data. Any company doing business in china has to team with a chinese firm and hand over it's technology. Also, if it's made in china, don't put in in your mouth.

Happy Vivaldi user here since August.
I remember when I first launched vivaldi, to test how optimized it is, I opened up about 20 youtube tabs with all of the pages loaded but videos paused. If this was chrome, about 6-7 gigs of my 8 gig ram would've been cannibalized in seconds, vivaldi on the other hand, was using 1.6 gigs only. No lag switching between tabs either. This browser needs some proper love from us.

+nmeunier Jeez, condescending much? Being a computer tech doesn't make your personal experience the standard, it doesn't work that way.
And both laptops were brand new with only the brand's pre-installed software - of which some had been removed and nothing was added - when I tried Opera, they were not _messed up_ before it....and went back at working like new once the browser was uninstalled.
P.S. = Opera also caused issues to my uncle MacBook Pro as well, but it wasn't a first-hand experience of mine and his MBP was not new so I didn't include it in my first comment.

+TechGumbo Yeah, I saw that too....but I've actually never got why SeaMonkey existed in the first place, since there already was Firefox. Why keeping both alive?

UC browser is a great chromium browser. Blazing fast lunch time, adds on supported and many features already included, like Adblock and video pop-up.
Opera, in my opinion, is the most respected company among all in this video.

Linux lesson you can't just go to a website like with windows / Mac and download the browser you have to get them through the repository and not all versions will necessarily work on your desktop example apps for Gnome will seldom work with the KDE desktop and visa-versa, sometimes you can find thing at distrowatch.com/ you'll need some workable knowledge in BSD programming this is done in the terminal window

+Richard Golden-DeWitt That is good information Richard. I'll add that not all software will work with all distros of Linux.

  • @ArthasHastingsMenethil

Torch is the best for me cause it's faster than Chrome, got more feature, got built-in Torrent client so I don't have to Download Utorrent which is very expensive
Torch is like Chrome but better
You should included Côc Côc it's Vietnamese browser but I don't use it that much due to the language issue which very inconvenient for me but it's got Built-in Download Manager to download faster

Just using the regular Opera browser after a long stint with Chrome.
Enjoying my time with Opera, but I'll have to give Opera Neon a go now,
actually had no idea of its existence until now. Great video, thank you.

+Andrew Osier Neon is cool but does lack many of the features of the normal version of Opera. Opera Neon is an experimental browser where they test features that may eventually make it to Opera.

Fantastic !! I didn't know about many of these !! Definitely try them out. Opera Neon looks very cool !!!
Maxthon is a fantastic browser. I've used it for a long time. Epiphany and quipzilla is missing here. They are also very good. There is another browser which has three rendering modes like one of the browsers here. But I forgot the name. I'll share it here if I can find it. Oh, and SeaMonkey is also a very feature rich browser. A bit on the slower side, but a potent browser. Thanks Techgumbo for sharing these with us !! 👍👍👍🙌🙌

+TechGumbo *I LOVE* the new intro change you show here at 0:23 - 0:25 . *It's cool*. I love the web browser you show called "Comodo Ice Dragon". I love a browser that checks for Malware, spies and "fishing scams". *At 1st before watching this* I thought this video was going to be about search engines and that "web browsers was what search engines are called in America. Why not make a video about "10 Alternative search engines you may not know existed"? Of course we all know about Google and Yahoo. I've heard of "Web Wombat" but never used it. Would be nice in a video like this to see the search result differences from {these} different search engines. :)
